Drudge Retort: Red Meat for Yellow Dogs

Former Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Ridge said Sunday Republicans would accept a vice presidential candidate who supports abortion rights, but McCain's choice should defer to his view on the issue. "The last time I checked, the vice president is not an independent voice," Ridge said. "He echoes the position of the president of the United States."

IT DOESN`T MATTER PRO-CHOICE OR PRO-LIFE VEEP. McCAIN STILL LOSES THE ELECTION. HE BELONGS TO THE RETIREMENT HOME PLAY BINGO...NOT THE WHITEHOUSE

i don't understand how conservatives could be ok with this.

mccain is old and the possibility of his death in office due to age is greater. thus vp becoming pres.

How bout a pro choice VEEP who would appoint a supreme court member that would overturn Roe V Wade? Thats all a president would be able to do with this issue.

i don't understand how conservatives could be ok with this.

It's called bipartisianship. Look it up, kliff

They still call it the White House? I thought that after Bush sold out the whole country to his corporate buddies, as reported by Jeff Gannon, that it had been affectionately renamed The Whore House.

Ridge: GOP Would Accept Pro-Choice Veep

Woo Hoo Sounds like a great idea...

"The last time I checked" Tom Ridge was a big fat idiot and John McCain was a pre-Alzheimer-addled old fool.

"The last time I checked, the vice president is not an independent voice," Ridge said. "He echoes the position of the president of the United States."

So the Ridge is promising the opposite of the current Administration?

There is no way in heaven or hell that the GOP will accept a pro-choice VP. Not with the possibility of McCain dying or becoming mentally incapacitated in office (and if you dont think the GOP is worried about this, you will see how concerned they are if the VP pick is not conservative or neo-con.) But the McCain and his campaign is so willing to be dishonest in order to win, its a good lie that no one can disprove. That said, I think Ridge is at least an OK guy - although like most politicians, he expressed regrets for being used by the Bushies AFTER he allowed them to use him for their own dishonest means (ie, raising the alert levels when it was politically expedient for Bush & co. and wagging the dog).

McSame will never ever select a pro-choice candadate.

'My administration will be a pro-choice presiderncy' McCain from last nights debate.

I'll stick a pair of scissors in the base of somebody's skull, suck their brains out until their skull collapses then spin them around with some mean ole' forceps if that happens...

Thank god for the wack jobs.

The VP for McCain will be pro life..

"I'll stick a pair of scissors in the base of somebody's skull, suck their brains out until their skull collapses then spin them around with some mean ole' forceps if that happens..."

Masturbatory fantasies, writ large.

Most people keep such fantasies private. Or is this a case of Drudge Retort=Penthouse Forum?

For once Murph gets it correct.

You phony uckers... squeak about abortion while justifying bush's homicide in Iraq.

That's rich

Uh huh Tom, sure they will. Lets find out.

Never mind that you allowed the Bush administration to manipulate a national security department for the last election. That kind of leadership on your part is just what McBush is looking for.

You phony uckers... squeak about abortion while justifying bush's homicide in Iraq.

Oh, that's not homicide. It's freedom. Haven't you heard, they say it 10 times a day.

Every time I kill a child in Iraq, I think to myself, that's just one more child that won't be aborted. --- GWB ----

Some of us don't get hung up on RvW but we do worry about socialism creaping into our system. We also worry about judges that make up their own law without regard to the constitution.

abortion rights aren't going away so what is the point in being held up on a candidate over that issue?

" We also worry about judges that make up their own law without regard to the constitution."

Unless, of course, it's Scalia.

We also worry about judges that make up their own law without regard to the constitution.

Seriously, how can you even make that charge with a straight face after 8 years of Bush?
If you were really concerned about the Constitution being violated (instead of using it as a talking point) you'd be working for Obama's campaign.

Wrong. Bipartisanship would be selecting a Democrat, Independent, or anyone from another party. Selecting someone from the same party with a different opinion is not bipartisan. How do you seriously fuck that up? The word is Bi (that's two) Partisan (that's party/parties). It's right there in the damn word! Damn you're stupid.

I believe the word you're looking for is hypocrisy, or perhaps pandering. Though I doubt you understand either of those as well but I promise you both fit perfectly.

Really? So all this time you haven't been one of those lock-steppers that has just sat back while the current administration shredded the Constitution? I'm sure you're extremely concerned with the amount the Government has grown over the past 7 years as well. All the new (unconstitutional) powers they've given themselves. I'm sure you're also very concerned with their credit spending habits and have just been waiting (many years) for the right time to stand up and say something.

More likely though you just care about the freedom to place a baby Jesus statue in the town square and your right to have a M4 (for hunting of course) that you can shoot into the sky in a fit of celebration.

We can't have socialism, we haven't first finished with fascism.

I thought everyone knew that.

"Former Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Ridge said Sunday Republicans would accept a vice presidential candidate who supports abortion rights."

What a laugh, Ridge is lying out his ass.

"Not with the possibility of McCain ... becoming mentally incapacitated in office..."

Just wait until McSame implodes on the campaign trail. Repubbers will never care. Ronald Reagan was totally incapacitated during his eight years. No one I know thinks otherwise. herm
