The man's a rock star, what can you say?

"A fool and his money are soon parted"

FTA: He's now lost a big part of the national spotlight to presidential contenders John McCain and Barack Obama, but he remains a formidable force on the fundraising circuit, mostly at private affairs closed to the media. His total so far this year is roughly $70 million.

The singularily least liked, most loathed, least respected POTUS in living memory and he's still pulling in the the deep pocket donors.

He's even beating his take last year of 66 plus million. Of course it is an election year but the bigger point here is this...

The fact that the GOP continues to exemplify the credo of early industialist robber barons who once sed "We, who own everything, should also run everything".

Continue to support these goons and you'll just end up getting more of the same. An increasingly unfair, unjust and rigged system of government where corruption and over-influence and cronyism are the rule and not the exception.

And they try and tag Obama an elitist cos he actually speaks english and not gibberish.

The GOP are easily the most elitist, the most blood-thirsty, the most socially divisive and morally regressive of the two parties.

Obama has over 2 million individual donors to his campaign. He's a true populist candidate.

The GOP can't match him there so they stick to pulling in a coupla whales here and there like the elitists they truly are.

They should be reduced to a shadow of their former selves after all the fuckups, crimes and misdemeanors of the BushCo regime but they still manage control a large mass of the LCD genpop with fear and misinformation on RW Radio, in email smears campaigns, not to mention their babyfactory Talibaptist contingent.

Feh. Wotever happens it should be fun to watch.

Be Well.

That goes for the 2 million reportedly who have given to Obama..

That's a lot of money for someone who is hated so much, at least from what you see in the press and on TV. Could it possibly NOT be true? Over $950 Million dollars IS a lot of money! Could this be why he was disliked so much, by the Liberals? He's a veritable ATM machine for the Republican Party?

It's only a lot of money if you ignore the fact that he got it from very few people...in big huge chunks.

Hey, wake me up when Bush OR McLame collect from over 2 million people...okay?

He's disliked by MOST americans. Or are you ingoring his approval ratings.

Maybe you've forgotten about a little something called Iraq War????

Wake me up when He and his buddies pay back the american people for that Folly.

ingoring=ignorning

HERE LET ME HELP THE LEFT ON THIS ONE...

WHY DID BUSH RAISE UP SO MUCH MONEY = OILMEN + RECORD PROFITS

But I thought 99.9% of America hated him, how could the unbiased media have gotten that wrong?

Sorry about the previous post, I forgot that it is the Congress with the lowest ratings in history; once again, sorry.

Oil & Gas:
Total Amount: $5,102,650
Total to Democrats: $1,409,050 (28%)
Total to Republicans: $3,693,600 (72%)

opensecrets.org

Other interesting breakdowns:

Telephone Utilities: $3,713,917
42% to Dems / 58% to Repubs

(AT&T really loves the GOP, btw - wonder why?)

But I thought 99.9% of America hated him, how could the unbiased media have gotten that wrong?

Naw, Rasmussen says 33% think he's fine. All you need are some really rich people donating, like the Bush has - and then you don't need 2,000,000 giving little donations to a candidate.

Unless you're saying the GOP is a "populist" party these days?

I don't know why, but the comments from the right are particularly humorous to me tonight.

Yav,

Going from memory here....Bush received more total donations (total number of individuals donating) than Kerry in 2004.

Ok. So, are you saying that's happening now, when all the fundraising events Bush has been at are closed door (from the article)?

I believe your point was correct in a specific timeline, however Kerry and the Democrats flipped that according to Business Week:

The Democrats have also leapfrogged over a traditional weakness in direct-mail fund-raising by using the Net to reach contributors -- vastly increasing their take from small donors who give less than $200. Democratic Presidential candidates raised a mere $10.5 million from small donors in 2000. This time, Democratic candidates upped that by 927%, to $107.8 million, the CFI says.

(and yes, you made me go and research it because I didn't know!)

Jeff - hope you're having a good night, bro. I'm outta here. I have to hit the sack.

I am having a good night, Yav.

Thanks for the kind wish.

Make sure you hit something else, before hitting the sack.

Hit it and forget it.

"are you ingoring his approval ratings."

DUMP...

Potus "approval ratings"??...if I were to ever answer a pollster ...instead of tell'in them to F-off...I would also give Bush a low score.

But for many of the opposite reasons that lefties would state.
Same goes for Congressional ratings ...
It would take an awfully conservative dem to get my vote.I have occasionally voted dem in local elections.
It would take a lot more to fool me than the song and dance the dem convention is dancing with the pro life faction of the party.
Mac doesn't have much going for small gov-cons-libertarian either. So I just vote the lesser evil this year as usual.
I sent Mac a donation just yesterday....the lesser evil.

and the classwar continues.........

er, the people who donate that cash would give to the Republicans no matter who the mascot is.

Obama Raises $51 Million in July and Bush Rakes in Cash for GOP..same page and same BS. LIBS ARE SHEEP!

GW Bush can't even give a speech from a public venue anymore without creating a near riot the majority of the American people hate the cocksucker so much...so what dumb-ass Republicans continue to contribute to this idiot and for what reason?
