"December 5, 2006'

I gave up my apartment in the city and have moved into my summer house year round.
I am not hooked up to city power. I run completely on solar, and I am in the process of putting in a windmill.
I have a series of 8 1100amp batteries, and a 2000watt 12v 240v inverter.
I have enough electricity to power my house, and run power tools.
I'm still doing my laundry at my sons house, but I'm pretty sure if I buy a new power efficient washer I can run it. If its not enough, I will just put in a few more batteries in.

I have a series of 8 1100amp batteries

???

Good god, man! 8800 amps @ 12 v is over 105 kwatts. You could power a small factory. What the hell do you need that kind of power storage capacity for? (I'm presuming you mean 1100 amp/hour batteries and 12v judging by your inverter)

LOL

"U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Assistant Secretary for Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy Alexander Karsner today announced that with DOE funding, a concentrator solar cell produced by Boeing-Spectrolab has recently achieved a world-record conversion efficiency of 40.7 percent, establishing a new milestone in sunlight-to-electricity performance."

Gee, think what we could have done with the amount se spent in Iraq.

Gee, think what we could have done with the amount se spent in Iraq.

Gee, think how boring the DR would be without Danni turning an unrelated topic into something about Iraq.

How sad it must be to be in possession of a brain that steers every lucid thought into an anti Bush related rant. I pity you, Danni

40.7%?
When we can get 1% with corn ethanol?
No way!

So they must be up to 43-44 by now.

IS 240v standard voltage where you are. Do you run all your stuff at 240v or is your inverter 240/120?

What kind of batterys did you use (lead-acid?). Are they all hooked in parallel or are some in series?

I was just thinking about how much current you could get off that system. Inrush on large loads would kill you.

"I pity you, Danni"

Goatman, just in case you didn't understand, this site is for discussing politics. Everything is political and ESPECIALLY things to do with alternative energy. If you can't see the connection between wasting hundreds of billions in Iraq and our unmet need for alternative energy then it is you who have a problem, not me.
I don't pity you, to be honest, I don't anything you.

Goatman, just in case you didn't understand, this site is for discussing politics.

I understand that. And that's cool. I still pity you that your every thought is turned into a Bush bash.

I am able to look at these topics and delve into them for what they are. You do not have that capability. You must turn them into a hate fest. That is why I pity you. It is a beautiful and interesting world beyond the one of hateful politics. Check it out sometime. I think you'll be surprised at what you are missing and kick yourself in the butt for allowing political hate to consume this much of your life to date.

"40% solar panel effeciency = Iraq war

Danni"

"It is a beautiful and interesting world beyond the one of hateful politics."

Over 4000 dead American soldiers might disagree with you on that, my kids who will be stuck with the debt from the wars might disagree with you on that. I admit it openly, I HATE GEORGE BUSH and what he has done to this country. I don't care if you think my feelings are too consuming, I probably won't relax until these criminals are out of our government. I don't think I am, by any means, the only poster on DR that feels as strongly as I do.

You are right. There are several others who fail to see the positive aspects in the world and only focus on the negative. I pity them, too.

I grieve for the dead, I try to fix injustices, but I also see the love in my grandaughters eyes when she looks at me and am able to talk about it. Some people only talk hate, hate, hate. It's a pity.

Anyway, no reason to belabor the point. You continue focusing on everything negative and I'll continue keeping things in perspective

Relax it's Friday.

Translation:

Goatman is a "blue pill" kinda guy. He just wants to be able to enjoy his steak.

He doesn't want to hear about the Truth. That might put a damper on things. You see that "red pill" is an unknown quantity. Too much to think about.

Ignorance is bliss right goatman?

"Goatman, just in case you didn't understand, this site is for discussing politics. Everything is political and ESPECIALLY things to do with alternative energy."

Fuck you Danni. Alternative energy may be about politics for you but for some people its about things just a little bigger, like national security and saving the fucking human race.

Hey Danni, this should put your panties in a wad (that is if you haven't burnt them in protest. LOL)

Solar Farm Environmental Impact study affects States

I'm just busting your, err, balls? (chick with dick?)

They lifted the ban quickly...

BLM says fuck mother earth, for now.

Looks like environmental impact studies only apply to profitable ventures. Guess you still can't get blood from a turnip... yet.
