Lip, thanks for at least being honest. Question for you: With the whole PC movement going forward the past decade or so, why is it still "PC" to make fun of religous people? The only other group that gets made fun of like that are fat people.

Well, let's dissect it.
Fat people, by most peoples estimation (not the fat persons estimation, to be sure), are fat and it is preventable and has no upside. therefore, open game. Arguing in favor of fatness is kinda like trying to argue against executing a mass murderer.
If you don't buy into the basic premise of a spiritual world and creationism, then no religion is going to provide any meaning to you. So you could say religion, to non-religious people, is evil, mis-leading and 'preventable'. And what's worse is that they are 'in-my-face' all the time. So, to non-believers, there is no upside to being religious. Open Game.
What is destroying you mind is that you feel however you feel about your religion (even probably have emotional feelings for it) at a time when all religions are dying and being replaced with an egalitarian group philosophy. (I am well aware of the fact that this is the battle of the next century to get rid of this egalitarian system)
I used to be very religious too. The hardest thing I ever did was listen to what my own mind was telling me, which was that this fairy tale called religion was not only wrong, but destructive to an enlightened society. You have the same doubts or you wouldn't be asking the question.
In any event, I wish you peace and happiness, and if you get that from religion, more power to you. I will fight for your right to do so, but i will also try to persuade you to look within.
