Drudge Retort: Red Meat for Yellow Dogs

A Barack Obama ad ready to air on TV screens at Florida gas stations was rejected because the advertising company's chief said it reflected poorly on the oil industry.

McCain should swoop in and fill the void.

They should have edited out everything except the part where Obama holds up a tire guage and says, "This is the answer to our energy problems".

There's enough advertising at the pump as it is. Captive audiences revolt!

As if people aren't already thinking bad things of the oil industry when they are sitting at the pump paying four bucks a gallon.

Why in the WORLD would oil companies advocate ANYTHING that lowered prices?

Why in the WORLD would oil companies advocate ANYTHING that lowered prices?

They wouldn't.

Their primary concern, like any other business or industry, is to maximize profits.

That said, the higher oil prices climb the more viable alternative energy sources become and the greater the push to develop said sources.

Exactly, JEFF.

As long as fuel is reasonably cheap, reliable and profitable to produce they're in good shape. Once one of those three variables drops off, then there's trouble.

Care to link to that video?

And I must say, I hate those TVs at gas stations, and in super markets, and in diners, and in bars, and pretty much everywhere else. Why must people have a stupid screen to stare at 24/7. Is thinking painful for them?

Amazing how gas prices rose 5 times in one day at a gas station I was near when Katrina hit. Oil companies explanation: "We'll have to pay more" - even though the gas and oil shipments were already paid for in advance, with the very same gas sitting in the tanks at the station that had been there all day.

When oil prices fall it takes weeks for prices to fall.

What bullshit!

"We need an energy bill that encourages consumption." - George W Bush 23 Sept 2002.

"The American way of life is not negotiable" - Dick Cheney 2001.

"Our excessive dependence on OPEC has already taken a tremendous toll on our economy and our people. Every act of energy conservation is more than just common sense -- I tell you it is an act of patriotism" - Jimmy Carter 15 July 1979.

Followed by McCain's wrinkled mug on the screen showing him saying this:

Obama said a couple of days ago says we all should inflate our tires. I dont disagree with that. The American Automobile Association strongly recommends it."

Somebody help me! It's a killer rabbit!
Jimmy Carter

Somebody help me! It's a killer rabbit.......

And he is carrying a pretzel!

Jimmy Carter references earn no spamming points.

As old a reference as the rest of your act.

Just ask FWTHOM.

When oil prices fall it takes weeks for prices to fall.

No kidding. The price of oil has dropped more than $20 and the cost of my gas has gone down a whopping 10. Sweet!

Like you said if the cost of oil goes up gas stations will raise their prices that very day, sometimes even multiple times in a single day.

But you know, offshore drilling will fix that problem in 20 years. Or is it 10 years, or 5 years, or 1-2 years, perhaps only a few months? The time frame changes more frequently than McCain's depends, too bad the result is the same: SHIT.

whopping 10

Should have been a "cents" symbol in there but for some reason I guess that special character isn't allowed. Oh well. 10cents.

Damn!

AMERICAN-EUNUCH: We'll remember that the next time you post something related to Vietnam, Reagan, or Nixon. And I'll promise not to mention Clinton's BJ anymore.

YEAH!

Either that or they use this Maximized Profit-- to Buy off Washington via lobbyist and employ them to stamp out any alternate push to develop said sources--! You know, like how they say Solar cant replace all our energy needs (as if it has to) and that you cant power a house when we have an entire HouseLaboratory that runs in solar exclusively!

Oh, and if it takes weeks for the price drop of oil to be reflected in the cost of gas ---- why was there a spike in fuel costs the Day after Katrina?
You all remember that dont you, the overnight rise in prices was attributed by the industry to platform damage in the gulf ---- the day after the storm?

"like any other business or industry, is to maximize profits." - JeffJ

Maximizing profits is so general as to be meaningless, in other words Nullispeak.

Cute. Any corporation that is not trying to maximize profits is not going to stick around very long. Any so-called philanthropic image building activity is only done to maximize profits over the long term.

Maximizing profits at the expense of brand loyalty is a sure way to go out of business. See "Starbucks to close 600 stores"

Also see "Starbucks to offer half-price afternoon drinks"

And guess which companies are getting into alternative energy big time?

"And guess which companies are getting into alternative energy big time?" - NG

You say that like it's a bad thing. Why?

"Amazing how gas prices rose 5 times in one day at a gas station I was near when Katrina hit. Typical mindless overprivileged consumer mentality.

Consumer goods are not priced according to what was paid for them. They are priced according to what it will cost to replace them.

You don't do that, you'll soon be out of business.

Punish those evil oil companies! Keep those tires filled!

That wacky Theo Nebs. Winner of the "Johnny One-Note" award of the week.

Originality dude... you should start saving up for some.

Another one!

Hey santa man...it's "TheOne.BS" Dumb Ass!

"Hey santa man...it's "TheOne.BS" Dumb Ass!"

Better than being John McCain--The None.

Its a string of letters. Whereas you had visions that you made up something clever, the rest of us just see poor old unremarkable Theo Nebs going "look at me, look at me daddy!". But he never does, does he Theo?

Hey santa man...it's "TheOne.BS" Dumb Ass!

No it isn't. I copied and pasted your name as is.

"Santa man"? Isn't school still out for the summer, kid? Get off your moms computer.

Fill up those tires today Santaman?

lol.

Yes, you little turd, because that's exactly what Obama said.

I guess you missed the discussion on the issue - held by adults - that pretty much shamed your side into admitting that Obama's point was exactly correct, as was his mocking of the celebratory ignorance which you demonstrate so well.

Nice work, and thanks for the laugh.

Fill up those tires today Santaman?

Maybe I can borrow some air from your head.

Get a job Alexander. Stop livin' off the public teat.

You really are a clueless bastard, aren't you?

What public teat do I live off of, exactly?

(citation needed)

Alex, you have to understand that poor Theo isn't the sharpest tool in the shed and thinks that repeating the same old tired line over and over and over is humorous.

Even though he doesn't have the first clue what the adults were actually discussing, he thinks it makes him seem like a big boy.

Kinda like when a little girl puts on mommy's makeup and high heels and thinks she looks just like a grown-up lady.

Thats our Theo Nebs.

LOL..LOL...more elitist condescension from the party that's doing everything possible to prop up their buffoonobama. Cast your opponents as children and you as the "adult."

Problem: There aint enough props to transform your buffoonobama into something sensical. LOL...LOL...LOL

Keep on talkin' santaman! LOL...LOL

"Cast your opponents as children and you as the 'adult'."

Well Theo, if the footwear is of the appropriate size...

What kind of retard works for the Obama campaign, that their media buys are in Florida gas stations? Best way to get votes in Florida is to publish voting guides. And proofread them first, just to make sure you're not telling a bunch of Dem retards to go out and vote for Pat Buchanan.

"Best way to get votes in Florida is to publish voting guides."

Shee-it.

Best way to get votes in Florida is to get with your friendly Diebold rep.

And install your brother as Goobernor so's the likes of Katherine Harris are on hand to stymie any and all attempts to get to the bottom of alleged inaccuracies.

It is sad when Paris Hilton's energy plan is far superior to Obama's stupid tire gage.

"Amazing how gas prices rose 5 times in one day at a gas station I was near when Katrina hit.

This was exacerbated by the media. The guy who owns the corner gas station is a great neighbor. But, when the media went wild, it was a 'run on the bank' mentality.

There was no shortage of gas. The media's "they're going to need 1000's of body bags" lies hurt us all.

The media was the devil's advocate.

The Shell and Marathon Refineries in the New orleans area were also severely compromised during Katrina, as were the homes of many of the refinery workers. That lowered oil production in the US, and the refinery in Chalmette, LA was out of commission for a while. Plus, it had to pay the Chalmette area families for all of the chemical spill damage. The US needs to drill offshore AND build several more US based refineries!

Building more refineries would just mean more gasoline EXports.

NOTE TO THE BOARD!

Just wanted you all to know, I made sure my tires were inflated today. Just doin' my part to stick it to big oil!

Basic supply and demand would mean lower gas prices, and more EXports would mean more American revenue. What's the problem?
