IMHO, free speach does not include the right to bother someone in their own home.

Well now that I think about it, the Chris Rock recording might be funny. "What the phuck is wrong with you mutha phucka? don't you know if you vote for X they gonna take away your kool-Aid!"

Okay I can't tell jokes, I'm not Chris Rock!

I have had some success by recording this tone at the start of my answering machine message. Of course, Caller ID is a must have to know when to not answer the phone.

This supposedly tells the predictive dialer that the phone is disconnected. It is the first note of the SIT tone for such.

The idea is that the dialer will give up on your number after a few tries

Your mileage may vary.

The point is if you can be on a do not call registry for telemarketers you should be able to be on one for political calls also.

It's your phone and house and time they are infringing upon.

Yay!

All telephone solicitation should be a capital crime.

And you should be able to carry out the sentence by pressing *666.

The point is if you can be on a do not call registry for telemarketers you should be able to be on one for political calls also.

I got that.

I also got that it ain't gonna happen anytime soon, if ever.

I was merely suggesting an alternative I have had success with that may or may not work, depending on the sophistication of the calling software.

I understand and appreciate your post.

Hey, we may have found an issue that everybody agrees on! Most of us hate politicians!

What are those unemployed robots gonna do now? Are they gonna get together and plot a world takeover? This is dangerous.

Let the robocallers earn a decent leaving damn it!

"Let the robocallers earn a decent leaving damn it!"

Soon they will start a union and for the companies to move to India and we will have to deal with robots that can't speak English.

Here's my method:

Whenever a number is calling that I don't recognize, I answer the phone anyway. Most sales calls nowadays are computer generated. I politely say "hello", and wait for a response. (Once the computer has acknoledged a voice on the receiving end, I believe it transfers the call to a waiting operator. You can tell this is happening if there is a delayed response from the caller.) If I don't get an answer after my first "hello", then I hang up. I guess many people will say it twice, but once is enough for me. They had their chance. If the caller can't be personal enough to dial my number directly and then respond when answered to, then why do I owe them more than one "hello"?

Something else to do would be to let the robot talk but you put the tube down so you don't listen. They pay for the call, but you don't get the message.

When telemarketers call (people) they will ask if so and so is in the house, even if they ask for me I will them that I will go look for that person. I then leave the phone there for two or three minutes. They wasted money on a call and couldn't sell squat. Watch as calls stop.

Member ---I do the same thing, but when they ask for whoever--I tell them that "ya man he really wants to talk to you, don't go away" and quietly lay down the receiver...................

Robocalls are on the same level as Spambots. Which is to say that those responsible fer 'em should be tarred and feathered and ridden out of town on a rail.

Be Well.
