Drudge Retort: Red Meat for Yellow Dogs

The Bush administration extended a test program allowing long-haul trucks from Mexico full access to U.S. highways for up to two years, despite pending legislation from Congress to shut it down.

It's only a matter of time before Wal Mart starts using Mexican ports and Mexican distribution centers for their Chinese goods. They can then use Mexican truckers to ship everything directly to their stores.

Deal with it.... a time will come the US will have to come to grips with doing more business with our neighbors North and South --- actually, the time has come.

No more paranoia please. Share your wealth while making more money.

Remember, America has been the economic machine of the world: Japan, China, getting their wealth through American market. Its time to pull up Mexico economically so we don't have to attract too much unwanted immigrants.

This isn't about pulling up Mexico economically. This is about breaking the Teamsters Union and forcing all U.S. Truckers to work for $250 a week. This is about more good jobs being destroyed and more money for corporate welfare. This is about another attack on the middle class by the Republican greed machine.

"But who's really out of touch? The Bush Administration estimates that expanded offshore drilling could increase oil production by 200,000 bbl. per day by 2030. We use about 20 million bbl. per day, so that would meet about 1% of our demand two decades from now. Meanwhile, efficiency experts say that keeping tires inflated can improve gas mileage 3%, and regular maintenance can add another 4%. "...McCain and his surrogates are ... insisting, over and over again, that tire pressure is the entire Obama energy policy. Who, exactly, is supposed to believe such transparent nonsense?

Consider a counter-example. McCain was talking about skin cancer the other day. McCain emphasized that skin cancer is preventable, and implored Americans to wear sunscreen, especially over the summer. Whats wrong with this advice? Not a thing. Its a smart, sensible thing to say.

But imagine if Obama and his surrogates said the entirety of McCains healthcare policy is sunscreen application. McCain doesnt really care about cancer, they could argue, he just wants everyone to run out at get some SPF 30. Those vying to be Obamas running mate started holding up bottles of Coppertone during their speeches, saying things like, We want you to wear sunscreen, you know, it will very mildly improve your chances of not getting sick. But wearing sunscreen is not a healthcare policy for the United States of America.--

This, of course, would be insane. And yet, thats pretty much whats become of Republican campaign rhetoric of late."

"Who, exactly, is supposed to believe such transparent nonsense?"

The same numbskulls that believe the e-mails that say Obama is the anti Christ because it's in the Bible. Except...he ain't and it doesn't.

The alternative to the Mexican long haul trucking policy would be to drop their loads at the border to be hauled by American trucks. That would be a very inefficient plan, protectionist, and amti-free trade. That would be something that Obama and the dems should love.

Yes, and i suppose you drive a truck. What this is about is the idea that real competition in the transportation industry might lower costs of good for the rest of the middle class that doesn't drive a truck for a living.

Now, i'm not stupid enough to believe that bushcocksucker is doing this for any other reason than to reduce support for the vaginacrat party by breaking the union, this is obvious. However, the vaginacrats have been in control of congress for 2 years and haven't done shit squat on a fucking myriad of REAL issues that would benefit the average person.

Moral of the story here is that this is just another political distraction/machination brought to the public by the same bunch of corporate fuckers who own both parties.

Actually, you're both right. We don't have a real government anymore, we have a corporate sponsorship.

Corporations need customers. And they don't need unions. Unions have terminal cancer.

You know, it just occurred to me that the wierd politics we are in right now makes liberals agree with Pat Buchanan.

Unions helped the under classes buy homes that they would otherwise have to rent out the land lords dumps.

I like Obama, but I wish he would stop using obviously unamerican tactics like

We should give Americans a rebate of $1000 per family and where are we getting this money? From the huge profits of Exxon!

LOL!!!

At least he's honest! A dictator in the making, but honest!!!

I thought Exxon was a private company!

Let me ask you a question. If you made a huge profit on an investment that you had been working on and waiting for over 60 years would you be happy to give most of that hard-earned profit over to the Government!??!

No! You wouldn't!

Do you really think that Exxon had anything to do with the price going up? They control less than 3% of the world's oil. How can you explain that they corner the market?

Rob, you are using the retort to pump up your own website. if your link got changed, that is why.

rcade knows who you are and isn't about to let you make money off his website.

BTW, McCain's "Energy Policy" is the same as Bush's. I really can't believe people are going to vote for this guy!

oh, and by "rob" I mean ETSTOW.

"What this is about is the idea that real competition in the transportation industry might lower costs of good for the rest of the middle class that doesn't drive a truck for a living."

Trucks can be very dangerous. Are Mexican trucks held to the same mainetnance standards as US trucks? Are the drivers put through the same kind of training/testing?

I don't know the answer. But if they aren't, then they shouldn't be on our roads - unless we decide that trucks are no longer dangerous and that anyone should be able to drive them and lower the standards for our own truckers.

Bah. Tell it to your 2-year old for whom you just bought that toy made in china.

Nope!

These assholes will be running back across the border after causing an accident!

OH COMEON! You really think a Mexican driver is going to stick around after accidently killing a family on the Interstate?

That's a chance that Bush is willing to take to have the North American Union become a reality!!!

West Coast Longshoresman still have effective powr, but today even the teamsters have been severely crippled. Its all part of a Chicago Economics Schools Think Tank Plans. Money is everything, people are nothing.

"OH COMEON! You really think a Mexican driver is going to stick around after accidently killing a family on the Interstate? "

Some would some wouldn't.

My point is that people want to talk about "fair competition" while ignoring the fact that differing standards placed on US and Mexican truckers put US truckers at a disadvantage.

It doesn't make sense to have out truckers accountable to certain safety standards and then to let Mexican trucks in without adhering to the same standards.

So we should either hold everyone who is going to drive trucks on our roads to our standards or drop the standards.

Its time to pull up Mexico economically so we don't have to attract too much unwanted immigrants.

Posted by takitez

That was the plan in the 90s with NAFTA. Mexico went broke right after.
The truckers won't be hauling Mexican products, except maybe poisoned jalapenos. This is part of the NAFTA Superport in Kansas-crap from the far east gets unloaded in Mexico and shipped to Kansas for dispersal, (and vice versa) effectively killing the west coast ports.

People are Soylent Green

I know that this is a political issue and the LAST FUCKIN THING A dem wants is for the price of a gallon of gas to go down........
but ONE MORE TIME>........we are talking about ALL OF THE ABOVE when it comes to energy.......

and bush threw out the presidential thing against offshore and I now pay 3.69 instead of 3.99

if congress votes to drill offshore in about two weeks I might be paying 3.49 a gallon

it shows we are serious about drying up the gas from our enemies.....WITH OTHER SOURCES OF ENERGY, of course.........

oh yeah,..............arent the figures on conservation going pretty good.I know that my driving milage has been cut over half........

damn forgot...........isnt this all a part or carryover from NAFTA and wasnt that a gift from blowjob billy.

and by the way.
this superhiway thing that was going to cut through farmland and all from mexico to canada
THEY LISTENED TO US........plan is to stay right with existing interstates.........

Rob, maybe you'll talk about how unfair rcade is on air sometime? At least that would be some quid pro quo that would benefit you both.

But, for the record, the links to your station's website often suck as far as informational value. If you were more concerned about substantive dialogue than with your own self-promotion ... eh, screw it. we all know why you link to your station's website.

"and bush threw out the presidential thing against offshore and I now pay 3.69 instead of 3.99

if congress votes to drill offshore in about two weeks I might be paying 3.49 a gallon"

Just a coincidence that the election approaches isn't it. Can't remember how many posts I've read where folks predicted exactly this price reduction just as we have seen before other elections.
Would major oil companies, rich with huge profits, manipulate gas prices for political gain....yes of course they would and are.

"Regardless, we are provided content nationally, and I posted it. If there was something wrong with it, it should be deleted, not edited."

Unless I missed something, your original link was a site that had the Reuters story on it. Rcade changed it to link directly Reuters.

If your intent was simply to get the information contained in the story out to the DR denizens, what is your issue?

"and bush threw out the presidential thing against offshore and I now pay 3.69 instead of 3.99

the fact that gas use is at a 20 year low has nooothing to do with it.

of course it does...........dont try and make us on the right as stupid as you would like....
that's profiling and stereotyping and prejudicial and all of that shit you rail against.
but the price of oil is 'speculated' is it not?
and the speculators now are getting a whole different signal from us about being serious about shoving barrels of oil up the saudi's ass.......it MAKES A DIFFERENCE>

and its rich that the left adopts supply and demand when it can be used in place of saying anything good about bush on this issue.
YOU CANT HAVE IT BOTH WaYS..........

and we shouldnt be arguing about the price coming down anyway......
LETS CELEBRATE ANd make sure it comes down more and that will only be done when we adopt what I heard Joe say on morning joe this morning

tell republicans they can have this but have to give in to dems on that

tell dems that they can have this but have to give in to republicans on that.......

see how that works????????????

but even then
PELOSI WONT ALLOW THE VOTE BECAUSE SHE HAS A WORLD TO SAVE...........

Never mind the article on the back page which talks about amount of oil we are currently exporting....never mind the fact that Bush indicated clearly that he was not going to bomb Iran....never mind the drop in demand.....no...BLT figures that a lame duck president saying he wants to allow more drilling....which could eventually add a tiny percentage to supply in ten years....is responsible for lower gas prices today.......is BLT that gullible or that dishonest????
That is the question I wish I knew the true answer to.....

PELOSI WONT ALLOW THE VOTE BECAUSE SHE HAS A WORLD TO SAVE...........

Posted by bushlovertwo

Actually, it's because she has an incumbency to save and knows she's got a tenuous hold on it.

If it were true that Shrub's offshore drilling words can change gasoline prices "overnight" as many munckins assert, it becomes proof positive that the market is manipulated, since supply and demand did not change during that same period.

Cheney made it stone cold clear he wanted to raise gas prices in August 2000. This is BushCo's parting shot at people around the world no less. Nicely timed with his flipping off leaders at the G8 summit. Raise you hand if you like being fucked in the ass.

I wish the president would tell me whether to wipe two or three times because I love a leader who micromanages

hope thats not being too gullible for you......

you cant deny that the price JUST HAPPENED To come down after he did that............

and yes you are correct.

pelosi is lying when she says the novote is to save the world. its to save her ass and the ass of dems who would have to vote no to save wacko support and yes for support from people who put them in there.

Somebody who is using this site as a free self-promition vehicle, that's who.

Congress is going to take care of shutting down Bush's sneaky move again allowing Mexican trucks on our highways as soon as Congress gets back in five weeks. Bush illegally reauthorized the trucking bill again just two days after Congress adjorned for the summer even though Congress had overwhelmingly voted against it before they adjourned.

Bush is a true dictator and blatantly disregards our Congress' decisions and our laws but our Congress (including a number of Repubicans) have had more than enough of Bush's arrogance and dreams of being a dictator.

I, my friends, am proud to be an Americano, fortunate enough to be born outside the USA,which is why I should be Presidente de los Estados Unidos y Mexico."

"you cant deny that the price JUST HAPPENED To come down after he did that............"

If your best buddies own the oil companies you can pretty much tell them the date for the price to drop and they can arrange it. Especially when the discussion has turned to additional permit to drill. But hey, for simpletons it was the lame duck's empty words that don't even have any significance since it is Congress that would need to open up drilling. For the dishonest it is just the pretense that those words accomplished the price drop. A wise man once told me, there are no coincidences.

true, but the danger of that kind of humor, BL2, is that many less intellectually advanced individuals will take it seriously and that kind of error may very well be all a dud like McCain needs to get into the White House. Gawd know he can't do it based on his own merits.

That's what cookie the shithead is hoping for, and you know it.

"..However, the vaginacrats have been in control of congress for 2 years and haven't done shit squat on a fucking myriad of REAL issues that would benefit the average person. ...Posted by Shawn"

90% of bills put up by Democrats have passed with solid majorities from both parties. The other bills have to do with social issues that Republicans have fillibustered. You know what that is? The thing that the Republicans wanted to get rid of when they had the power.

You will not see any real social issues passing in the congress till the democrats have a veto-proof majority (see 'November').

And then, of course, you still won't like it.

But hey, here's something shiny to play with.

Where's FURIO? He was always one of Bush's biggest supporters when it came to letting Mexican trucks -- safety issues be damned -- drive all over the USA and undercut our truckdrivers' wages and take over their jobs.

Unsafe drivers driving unsafe food to market.

So. Not. Yum.

Do Not Want!

Be Well.

Someone needs to show Bush where the border is and then push him south!

Free Ramos and Campean. Why do we let thousands of illegals over the border every year? Why do the illegals get free health care? Good old Estados Unidos!

El Pesidente Bush!

Bomb the White House?

On the Drudge Homepage at the top is an ad thats states "Bomb Iran?" and then asks you for a vote on it!
Seeing that Iran has done none of the grievous harm or damage to America that the Bush Regime has and continues to inflict, why don't they run another ad in that same space that states "Bomb the White House?" It would be very interesting indeed to see the vote count on that proposition!!!

This is just the beginning of the NAFTA superhighway sending import garbage all over our nation on sub standard inferior trucks which do not have to comply to our standards such as cruise ships.
