Drudge Retort: Red Meat for Yellow Dogs

Barack Obamas new campaign plane is nothing short of grand. Well, for the candidate that is. Obamas section of the plane rivals that of any first class. Recently the front cabin of the Boeing 757 was retrofitted to install four individual chairs that resemble La-Z-Boys. They are free-standing and made of plush leather with pockets on the sides. There is also a booth which seats four for a meeting or a meal.

In other words, McCain's funny ads make a good point, don't they?

"First Obama tried his own presidential seal, now he's gotta try his own presidential seat. He was brutally ridiculed for the former."

Only by idiots who didn't realize the Republicans had done it several times before.

www.politicalbase.com

Kind of reminds me of the interviews John Kerry gave on election day in 2004 when he thought he was already president.

"Only by idiots who didn't realize the Republicans had done it several times before."

Well, I guess that when Obama said during the primaries that Reagan was a transformative president and that Republicans had had many ideas in the past two decades he wasn't kidding.

Withe the FISA law he helped enact, he'll have the power to govern like Republicans.

"Republicans had had many ideas in the past two decades"

Too bad they couldn't remember any of them; they wouldn't have looked so foolish bashing Obama for what they've done, repeatedly.

"...and have him annointed."

I love it! More desperation!

Hillary tought she was the inevitable candiate. We all know what happened.

"We all know what happened."

Yeah...Barack won that one, too.

Withe the FISA law he helped enact, he'll have the power to govern like Republicans.

It's okay! The righties like the new FISA law. They shouldn't have any trouble with Obama's administration using it, right?

This is really no big deal.

When you look at the pic, it's...

Obama 08
President (smaller letters)

Seems like "President" is there to indicate what office he is running for. It's not like it says "President Obama".

"This is really no big deal."

Sssshhhhh. The righties think it's a big, big, deal. Why ruin their delusions?

I think all you negative republicans are as jealous as hell. If John McCain had gone and completed tthis same trip taking this plane there
would be no complaining but the right wing machine of 527's, idiot radio and McCain's negative tone will loss out as the American people want to talk about the issues from McCain "not the anti-christ.

www.latimes.com

Nice little article on this.

I'll give this poster one thing: He's consistent . . . consistently off-base.

Since a little stitching on the back of a seat raises so many hackles, I guess painting O-Force-One on the outside of the fuselage is out of the question.

"Seems like "President" is there to indicate what office he is running for. It's not like it says "'President Obama'.

Posted by Pirate"

Exactly. Geez, LOOK at the picture folks. Its a freakin' campaign logo.

BUT... did you know Obama took the American Flag off the outside of the plane!!!!!!!??????

What? You mean they just removed the old corporate logos and put the flag on another part of the plane?

Nevermind.

And once again the McCain supporters look like hypocrites, foolishly bashing Obama for what Republicans have already done.

I'll bet McCain doesn't have that on his chair.

And rightfully so.

So, this pathetic piece of shit Cookfish starts a thread. Nah...he's the Dems secret weapon. They're all hoping Cookie will keep harping on the stitching on the seat, while ignoring the "President McCain" commercial from months ago.

I know....the standard retort. However, I just look at as "the wrong black candidate." There are plenty I'd vote for, but he ain't one.

don't even try to deny it

"don't even try to deny it"

Who is this really? Is that you, TonyRoma?

Has anyone met a McCain supporter that talked about McCain?

The Republicans are treating Obama like he is some kind of Messiah or something.

But really, what do the non-racist McCain supporters say about McCain and why he should be elected?

"But really, what do the non-racist McCain supporters say about McCain and why he should be elected?"

Pathetic attempt at a joke?

Not at all.

We know that there is a segment of America that won't vote for a black candidate. There is nothing anyone can do to combat this racism.

But not all McCain supporters are racists. I am just wondering what those non-racist supporters are saying about McCain and why he should be elected.

So voting for McCain because he's white an you're white is racist, but voting for Hussein because he's black and you're black is.....?

"... but voting for Hussein..."

It's always easier identifying the bigots when they volunteer themselves.

"We know that there is a segment of America that won't vote for a black candidate. There is nothing anyone can do to combat this racism."

There is also a segment that will vote for him because he is black, either because of a pro-black agenda or by falling prey to this odd guilt trip. I don't know which one is stronger but to deny one side can only be false.

I am not what you would call a mccain supporter. I am disappointed with both candidates, i mean of our 250 million people we came up with mccain and obama? How can these be the best we have to offer? I was hoping for someone i could vote for because i believed in him but it looks like its back to the "lesser of two evils" game. What it comes down to for me end up being experience, who can play the game. I don't like the idea of voting for someone because he says he is for change and not basing it on his merits. This is why mccain has an uphill struggle, he is fighting the stigma of bushes presidency in addition to the standard party games.

It's always easier identifying the bigots when they volunteer themselves.

Only one I can think of. McCain's presidential pension won't last nearly as long as Obama's would.

This is a bullshit subject line. It should be changed. It's has "Obama 08 President" stitched on the seat.

That's a big difference from just "President" as the subject line suggests.

By the way, did Cindy McCain ever figure out that it is actually possible to ride in a car in Arizona?

So Obama questioning if Clinton was the first black president by saying "I'm going to have to check out his dancing skills" was not something a bigot would say?

"I have 2 engineers working for me that go by their middle name."

Obama doesn't. You just undermined your own argument.

"So Obama questioning if Clinton was the first black president by saying "I'm going to have to check out his dancing skills" was not something a bigot would say?"

No, it's a joke.

Do you actually believe that's bigoted? Are you that out of touch with reality?!?

"So Obama questioning if Clinton was the first black president by saying "I'm going to have to check out his dancing skills" was not something a bigot would say?"

Shirts...you are asking a devout disciple of The One to make some kind of negative assessment of something he said. Not only is it blasphemous for you to do that, but you KNOW the answer.

you are asking a devout disciple of The One

There goes the Right again........

"the Republicans had done it several times before."

As usual, this is the first line of defense from any Obama supporter. Why is that always the case? Why is it okay for Obama to be just as big a shitbag as any Republican?

Ironic that a poster named Jest can't get the joke.

Obama doesn't. You just undermined your own argument.

Posted by Danforth

Have you ever been called by your last name? Do you go by it consistantly? If he is ashamed of his name, like he was in college, let him change it - otherwise it is fair game. Just like McCain's middle name.

"As usual, this is the first line of defense from any Obama supporter. "

Because it's hypocritical to bash someone for something they've done themselves, repeatedly.

"Why is it okay for Obama to be just as big a shitbag as any Republican?"

You've got it backwards. Rs are accusing Obama of being a shitbag, when if that's their barometer, they're MUCH MORE of a shitbag.

Do you really believe Cookie would be interested in this if he knew "President" McCain had done worse?

"otherwise it is fair game"

As is pointing out your bigotry.

"Ironic that a poster named Jest can't get the joke."

I get the joke, Danny. You and your little friends in your Obama frenzy are the joke. The whole fuckin' campaign is some kind of joke.

And yes, I get the dancing joke for what it was. You and your little friends have to stop being so sensitive when it comes to posts that don't drip with adoration of your candidate. maybe you should just stick to reading posts by TonyRoma.

His age is a factor in his ability to lead.

Well then so is Hussein's race.

Its an anthropological thang.

Dawg.

"Because it's hypocritical to bash someone for something they've done themselves, repeatedly."

What about people who don't care much for Republicans either? Are they supposed to be satisfied with the excuse that a Democrat's conduct is okay because a Republican did it?

"Are they supposed to be satisfied with the excuse that a Democrat's conduct is okay because a Republican did it?"

No, they're supposed to see this bullshit of stitching on a seat as meaningless, and hypocritical if the Rs want to hold it against Obama for doing what they've done, repeatedly.

Truly: how big a deal is this stitching to you?

"I get the joke, Danny"

Hey, you're actually addressing the same person who addressed you! That's an improvement.

Truly: how big a deal is this stitching to you?

Everyone knows it's just being used as a diversion and an excuse so the Republicans don't have to talk about the real issues or their record for the last eight years.

THE EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
I know that some of you don't like to read long drawn out missives...so here's the executive summary for the candidates for the nation's Chief Executive Officer:

Military: McCain 22 years. Obama 0

Congress: McCain 26 years. Obama 143 days.

Summary concluded

"Have you seen all his video blunders?"

Really your going to pretend obama doesn't have just as many?
Seriously?
I'm just having trouble, i mean you can't be serious.
Remember Obama is the guy that has many, many errors that should have ended anyones political career yet survived with the help of his sheep.

"Because it's hypocritical to bash someone for something they've done themselves, repeatedly."

Its intellectually dishonest to equate using the likeness of the POTUS seal for a task force, to a presidential candidate using it on his podium, when addressing the public.

I don't find it illegal, just presumptous, something an arrogant American would do, this screams of everything I thought the democrats were against in Bush, but I suppose its your man.

"they're supposed to see this bullshit of stitching on a seat as meaningless, and hypocritical if the Rs want to hold it against Obama for doing what they've done, repeatedly."

Again - there's clearly no excuse for the conduct itself if the only thing you've got is that Republicans have done it too. I don't like Republicans and when the story is about them, we can talk about them.

"Truly: how big a deal is this stitching to you?"

I wouldn't put it at the top of my list. At the same time, it does tend to contradict Obama's image as being a "man of the common people" for him to have a jet that nice at all.

I gotta go...reluctantly as this is great entertainment. I may be stricken with that light from above The One mentioned and have that epiphany on the road to Damascus, but I doubt it. If not, I'll probably see y'all tomorrow. Play nice now.

www.youtube.com

I LOVE this ad.

"Its intellectually dishonest to equate using the likeness of the POTUS seal for a task force, to a presidential candidate using it on his podium, when addressing the public. "

Was it intellectually dishonest when the Rs used it, repeatedly, in their fundraising and other efforts or is it only that way when someone with a (D) after there name does it?

"I don't find it illegal, just presumptous"

As presumptuous as the "President McCain" ad?

thepage.time.com

"Really your going to pretend obama doesn't have just as many (video blunders? Seriously?"

Seriously.

Congress: McCain 26 years. Obama 143 days.

Problem is, McCain was one way on a lot of things for 26 years and has now flipflopped on so many of the issues in just the past one year while he's been campaigning it doesn't matter what his previous record in Congress had been. It's as if he's starting from scratch.

What good is a long record and a stance on the issues if it takes only a year of campaigning to undo McCain's previous positions on everything. Who can believe anything he says now?

Face it -- we all know McCain would not have been given the nod by the GOP to be their choice if he had not promised to follow ALL of Bush's disasterous policies (privatizing and downsizing all our goverment agancies (like the FDA), free trade disasters, making all federal rules and regulations voluntary only in order to increase corporate profit, and I don't have enough bandwidth to list them all.

I may still be leery about Obama as he is too liberal for me on many positions but God knows this country cannot survive any President who will agree to continue Bush's term in office by proxy.

"I gotta go..."

Before linking to lefties using psuedo-religious words about Obama? Again?

I'm starting to believe there aren't any....

Like the Rs who all condemned keeping your car running efficiently, just because a guy with a (D) at the end of his name said it?

Nah Dan...nothing to do with the (d)...car maintenance makes total sense. Like turning down the AC and driving less to cut consumption.
It was this ""all the oil that they're talking about getting off drilling"

thecaucus.blogs.nytimes.com

www.snopes.com

"bogus non-story " little things...add up.

""all the oil that they're talking about getting off drilling""

Have you done the math? It's quite possible the inefficiencies of current cars, if corrected, could more than make up for what we could get by drilling.

I'm betting they did the math, and that's what they discovered.

Doc...down boy...I made an observation not a demand.
You lefties are getting more inclined to hysterics by the day.

"thecaucus.blogs.nytimes.com"

Kerrin,

Did you miss the part where it turned out the Republicans had done the same thing three times?

You seriously think this will negate the need for drilling? Would that really take us into the future...or just be a band-aid?
So how are we going to enforce this...traffic stops with cops armed with tire gages?

"You seriously think this will negate the need for drilling"

No, and that wasn't what was suggested. Merely that we look at the big picture, including things like running the car at maximum efficiency.

"Would that really take us into the future...or just be a band-aid? "

Not the thing to ask after a pair of oilmen increased our dependency on the ME.

Republicans had done the same thing three times?

It wasn't in the NYT...who did it?

"Republicans had done the same thing three times?"

Yes. For fundraising.

www.politicalbase.com

Americans drive approximately 2,880 billion miles per year. If we average 24 mpg, we use around 120 billion gallons of gasoline in our vehicles. If, through perfect tire inflation, we improved our collective fuel efficiency by 1.5%, that would be 1.8 billion gallons. A barrel of oil produces around 20 gallons of gasoline, so the total savings available through tire inflation is approximately 90,000,000 barrels of oil annually.

How does this stack up against "all the oil that they're talking about getting off drilling?"

ANWR: 10 billion barrels
Outer Continental Shelf: 18 billion barrels (estimated; the actual total is undoubtedly much higher, since exploration has been banned)
Oil shale: 1 trillion barrels

So, on the above assumptions, it would take only 11,308 years of proper tire inflation to equal "all the oil that they're talking about getting off drilling."

www.powerlineblog.com

Gotta jet...it has been fun!

Love how Kerrin throws out another little lie, then conveniently has to "jet".

"If, through perfect tire inflation, we improved our collective fuel efficiency by 1.5%..."

The author pulled that one out of his ass:

"Running a tire 20 percent underinflated - only 5 to 7 pounds per square inch (psi) - can increase fuel consumption by 10 percent.

www.theautochannel.com

And then he includes oil shale? How dishonest can you get? The shale is 97% of the equation!

Danforth- Where do you keep the skins of the righties you've captured? That room must be getting full.

Debunking Internet Bullshit Since 2005.

Big deal. John McSame has "front" and "back" stitched into all his pants.

Dan...you can not put hard and fast numbers on the savings...you are quoting Utopian numbers on all the nations cars.
Fact is not all tires are under inflated and not all people will follow THE OBAMAS advice.

Out of the bubble world...1.5 may be closer to the actual mark .

I won't pretend to be into numbers like you...but as long as we drill or develop the shale...what dif is it where the percentages come from?

"ABCs Jake Tapper also fact-checked Obamas statement on keeping tires inflated, and he reached a different conclusion. Tapper quoted Frank Verrastro, Director and Senior Fellow at the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS), who came up with this analysis (emphasis mine):

[T]he production offset [from keeping tires inflated] is more likely to approach 800 thousand barrels per day a tidy sum and a worthwhile target for savings, but not equal to [Outer Continental Shelf] output.

Finally, without knowing what production volumes could be expected from lifting the ban on OCS drilling moratoria, its impossible to assert that taking these fuel savings actions would exceed future offshore oil volumes, and in fact, one might argue that the combination of achieving these savings AND developing new supply would doubly enhance US energy security. "

Awww...if I had known you would be back...

Hell...I still would have left.
The pontoon was in the water with the motor running....and I was hungry.

Danforth that is a lame retort to Obamas seal.

Those other 3 images were comissioned by the President and/ or Congress and they were images used by groups whose intiative were backed by the current President, Reagan.

In the case of Obama, he is trying to fool idiots into thinking he is the President by attaching a presidential seal to himself as
a candidate....

Apples and oranges you have not proven shit.

"Finally, without knowing what production volumes could be expected from lifting the ban on OCS drilling moratorium"

That's disingenuous. All the predictions have been based on sucking every theoretical drop. If anything, it'd be less, not more.

"Dan...you can not put hard and fast numbers on the savings.."

Nor can you put hard and fast numbers on the drilling. Bush's own Energy team has said it would save pennies, twenty years from now. The "potential" is about 1% of our current usage, whereas the conservation "potential" in merely keeping the auto running efficiently is several times that.

And I'll take the opinion of auto efficiency experts, and Goodyear, over a "Senior Fellow at the Center for Strategic and International Studies", a job which probably didn't require automotive expertise.

"used by groups whose intiative were backed by the current President, Reagan."

So what? The Republicans bastardized the Presidential Seal---for political fundraising---three times, and then they attacked Obama for doing it. Hypocrisy at its height.

Your argument is just another verse of IOKIYAR.

"....and then they attacked Obama for doing it. Hypocrisy at its height."

Sacrilege! If only we had Sahria law the infidels would PAY for that!

And what if we didn't recognize them, because we are so dull, and let them slip away, not availing ourselves of the opportunity to be led by God!"
