Drudge Retort: Red Meat for Yellow Dogs

Billions of people face shortages of food and water and increased risk of flooding, experts at a major climate change conference have warned. "Poor people even in prosperous societies, who are going to be the worst hit," said Rajendra Pachauri, chairman of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change.

With savages, the weak in body or mind are soon eliminated; and those that survive commonly exhibit a vigorous state of health. We civilized men, on the other hand, do our utmost to check the process of elimination; we build asylums for the imbecile, the maimed, and the sick; we institute poor-laws; and our medical men exert their utmost skill to save the life of every one to the last moment. There is reason to believe that vaccination has preserved thousands, who from a weak constitution would formerly have succumbed to smallpox. Thus the weak members of civilized societies propagate their kind. No one who has attended to the breeding of domestic animals will doubt that this must be highly injurious to the race of man. It is surprising how soon a want of care, or care wrongly directed, leads to the degeneration of a domestic race; but excepting in the case of man himself, hardly any one is so ignorant as to allow his worst animals to breed.

--Charles "The Poor Bring Us Down" Darwin

Climate warming AND cooling are CYCLICAL event, ocurring every 20 or so years. Nothing we can do about it, except spend several tons of money with no perceptible result!

We could, however, create an animal feed that reduces flatulence by half. That would relieve us of the vast majority of the money being asked for by these people/scientists. The difference, approximately $3.975 Trillion, at last count, we could give to the poor. That would help defray the cost of their gasoline bills, so they can continue driving their cars to and from those jobs they won't have!

Currently the ignorant, build their homes below lakes and oceans, in levees once due to extreme flooding and areas prone to mudslides and forest fires.... waiting for that Darwin award.

There are too many people on the planet anyway. The more intelligent and adaptable will survive. That will be good for the human race.

According to chaos theory intelligence may have little to do with who survives. Random chance is more likely to play a larger role.

Maybe we should just let the wild fires burn freely and not put them out? Maybe nature is taking back the land we took?

If the levees fail do not rebuild. If mud slides let it take its course. This is the ultimate environmentalism!

MODER8,

I thought you were a Darwinist and believed in the doctrine of "survival of the fitest"? There might be some luck involved but as an evolutionist you can't believe in chaos theory, it's against your religion.

"There might be some luck involved but as an evolutionist you can't believe in chaos theory"

You really have no idea what you're talking about. Well, just the nouns, really.

African-Americans are hardest hit by global warming.

As energy costs rise the threat of global warming will subside, as food becomes more expensive overpopulation will lessen. To Mother Earth we are just on species no more important than any other and our continuation or extinction makes no difference to her. Our ecosystem will eventually balance itself even if it has to eliminate us to do it.

The ice melt at the Arctic Circle, if it happens, will not be the result of exhaust-spewing SUV's, but the natural result of volcanoes.

From Investor's Business Daily comes this insight: "Robert Sohn, WHOI geophysicist, lead author and chief scientist of the July 27, 2007, Arctic Gakkel Vents Expedition, estimates that exploding mixtures of lava and gas were expelled at speeds of more than 500 meters a second.

"Sohn says the large volumes of CO2 gas that belched out of the undersea volcanoes likely contributed to rising concentrations of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere.

"Scientists at NOAA's Geophysical Fluid Dynamics Laboratory have put together a chart showing Arctic ice relatively stable until a precipitous decline began in 1999 the very year the Arctic eruptions started."

Apparently the footprint left by volcanoes overwhelms any CO2 emissions humans can muster.

So much for Snappy's bullshit-for-idiots Arctic volcano.

By the way, humans emit 170 times the greenhouse gasses that volcanoes do.

Damn memory failures ... 170 => 130

"Volcanoes release more than 130 million tonnes of CO2 into the atmosphere every year. "

"Emissions of CO2 by human activities, including fossil fuel burning, cement production, and gas flaring, amount to about 27 billion tonnes per year (30 billion tons)"

As for "undersea volcanoes" in the Arctic ...

I call biodiesel.

Carbon dioxide accounts for 3% of global warming. 97% of carbon dioxide is naturally caused. That leave 99.8% of the greenhouse effect has nothing to do with human activity. Human activity is insignificant. And Zat, is a fraud just looking to scare up some grants to keep tax sucking job going.

Are you stupid or just uneducated? 170 times more "greenhouse gas" than volcanoes? I call bullshit.

Did you know that methane and water in gas state are greenhouse gases also?

So every time you drink water think about all the greenhouse gases you're emitting! So make sure you stop drinking water. Oh, and stop eating food because the food from animals emit methane. A greenhouse gas.

OH! stop using gas, stop driving a car... why don't you kill yourself. Then the world can "live". *rolls eyes*

Stop reading phony websites and learn the science you ignorant buffoon!

It's common sense to say the only thing we know about climate is that it changes...

I finished the second detector Friday.

Hint: I never finished the Phd; Motorola made the pay scale obscure the Phd.

Now I just show up for lawsuits over my patent.

I have an acquaintance with 45 patents.

Much more interesting than Zed; Or even RCADE.

But Rogers is OK, ...

Global Warming Message Morphs as Earth Cools

"This cooling has occurred even as CO2 increased 3.5%. A similar decoupling took place
from the 1940s to the late 1970s when temperatures fell as CO2 accelerated upwards into
the post-war boom years. This on-again, off-again correlation suggests CO2 is not the
primary climate driver."

Well, at least I made Honorable Mention. We could spend all day debating what that means in terms of Zat's mental landscape.

Ray, in his inability to construct a sentence, calls the University of Texas a "fraud."

Duh. I called you a fraud.

I have an acquaintance with 45 patents.

This phony changes the topic because I nailed him for what he is.

Ray I need so me advice.

Go ahead, Zat----Hit me, I can take it.

One hopes for Ray to argue with Goatman over orbital mechanics calculations which are BoOB insane.

I think of RCADE as a partner in crime since my ex's family created his Houston Chronicle venue, however he's not in the top three tiers for the rendering plant.

Later, Rogers, when I told my broker to buy DELL in '91, he said it was a "bad investment."

Gold eagles are a fine choice. My personal favorite is silver eagles for the reason that silver is both an industrial metal and a monetary metal. The price of silver (and gold) has been kept artificially low for the past 30 years which had the effect of drawing down the world's above ground reserves. Silver is now more rare than gold. Silver has been rising at about twice the rate of gold and has the potential to catch up to the price of gold.

I think the chances of gold confiscation are remote because too few Americans have any interest in it. Buy for the long term, five years or more. Take possession. Put it in a safe place (not a bank). Don't be concerned about the price fluctuations. This is a volatile market.

If the interest strikes you, this site has some good reads. www.drschoon.com

Ray,

What do you think of bags of "junk" (90%) silver coins? Just curious, thanks.

bullion.nwtmint.com

What

Junk silver is easily recognizable for barter in a worst case scenario of a systemic banking collapse. I don't know if that will happen, but you can't lose by stocking up. The fundamentals for silver are so fantastic that I believe silver coins are the buy of the century, maybe the millennium. (Google Ted Butler)

Dealers are running low on available stock of junk silver and the US mint is rationing silver eagles. You can also purchase 40% silver. There is a reasonable chance that the next wave up will exhaust available supplies, so I recommend loading up the truck while it's quiet.

The gold and silver bubbles are over. Same with the oil and gas bubble. I like certain ADRs.

Financial Wizard Thom

If you want to believe that, Whiz, be my guest. The way I see it, the credit bubble is over. It's humongous and has many years to go before it bottoms. As the general public scrambles for tangibles that hold their value, gold and silver go in the opposite direction.

According to chaos theory intelligence may have little to do with who survives. Random chance is more likely to play a larger role.

you need to read up a bit more than just on wikipedia regarding chaos theory.. chaos theory expounds that it really isn't chaos but extremely orderly and predictable.

we have flaunted the laws of nature and the check comes due at some point.. guaranteed.

So in your opinion, the 6.5 billion plus people on the planet and their activities have no effect on global climate, nor are they (we) contributing to the destruction of essential ecosystems.

Except in Russia, where there is no climate change. Russians are allow to pollute. There are no restrictions on drilling. There are no restrictions on the use of nuclear power. There are no restrictions on anything they wish to do. Russia good! The United States evil! Does that about sum it up Comrades?

Antarctic cooling pushing life closer to the edge
From USA Today

While the rest of the world has generally been warming up, much of Antarctica has been cooling for the last 35 years, scientists report.
At first glance, cooling the already-coldest continent might not seem to make much difference. Researchers say, however, it's making life even tougher for the few hardy plants and animals that struggle to live in the Antarctic Dry Valleys, the continent's largest ice-free area. No plants or animals, only microbes, live on the ice that covers about 98% of Antarctica.
Also, the cooling helps illustrate how little is known about some important aspects of Antarctica's climate.
Thirteen researchers, who work with the National Science Foundation's McMurdo Dry Valleys Long-term Ecological Research program, report in the Jan. 13 online edition of the journal Nature on both the cooling and its effects in the Dry Valleys, an a little larger than Rhode Island on the west coast of the Ross Sea.
Dry Valleys temperatures dropped an average of 1.23 degrees Fahrenheit a decade from 1986 to 2000, with the greatest cooling during the December through February Antarctic summer, they report.

Global Warming Did It! Well, Maybe Not.
We're stuck on the notion that climate change is the culprit every time a natural disaster strikes. But that's just muddying the waters.

We're heading into the heart of hurricane season, and any day now, a storm will barrel toward the United States, inspiring all the TV weather reporters to find a beach where they can lash themselves to a palm tree. We can be certain of two things: First, we'll be told that the wind is blowing very hard and the surf is up. Second, some expert will tell us that this storm might be a harbinger of global warming.

Somewhere along the line, global warming became the explanation for everything. Right-thinking people are not supposed to discuss any meteorological or geophysical event -- a hurricane, a wildfire, a heat wave, a drought, a flood, a blizzard, a tornado, a lightning strike, an unfamiliar breeze, a strange tingling on the neck -- without immediately invoking the climate crisis. It causes earthquakes, plagues and backyard gardening disappointments. Weird fungus on your tomato plants? Classic sign of global warming.
