Drudge Retort: Red Meat for Yellow Dogs

Increasingly the number of illegal immigrants charged with and prosecuted for identity theft is rising. People who defend the rights of (illegal) immigrants criticize both the application of ID theft laws to such cases as well as how such cases are being handled as it relates to due process.

This is what I wrote a few months ago regarding this issue:

www.drudge.com

"Is is possible that the reason we don't get tought on identity theft is that it would harm illegal immigration and corporations could not get their precious slave labor? Might be."

I suspect that this is a thread we may all agree about.

"The issue is coming up more often because of another part of the Bush administration's immigration crackdown."

Way to go W !
Now ramp it up some more.

How in God's name can these La Raza clowns justify the stealing and fraudulent use of ID legally belonging to another person. As usual, they spit on our laws. ID theft can often cause irreparable harm to the victim to whom the ID really belongs and can takes months if not years for the victim to get his/her records straightened out. The victim upon whom this ID fraud/theft is committed often has their own Social Security work history messed up for good, not to mention their inabilty to no longer do banking, get credit and/or open new accounts. The use of false or stolen ID is NOT a victimless crime.

Where was La Raza mentioned in the article?

Side note: Definition of Irony - Lou Dobbs braodcasts his radio show from a Mexican station, AM540.

This is pretty bad... when I think of all the people waiting in line for the chance to become a legal resident alien in this country... people whose situations are just as desperate.

And I can never get a straight answer from advocates for the undocumented aliens as to why they have committed no crime.

La Raza is not mentioned here, I don't think, but I am sure they don't want any illegals being prosecuted for stealing identities. How a group that calls itself "The Race" can be taken seirously I do not know.

Now, Ku Klux Klan, that's serious.

La Raza = the Klan with an accent.

The Klan did have an accent.

Like the radical racist group "The Brown Berets" - the Tan Clan.

So how about giving me my Spanish sentence lesson for tonight. We were going to try and do at least one a day.

How about teaching me how to say:

"Do you know I can find ________"

I'll fill in the item. It might help me at the store sometimes.

wait! I screwed it up.

I mean to write:

"Do you know where I can find _______"

okay, I'll check back later.

Chris,

To ask "do you know where I can find" x, you would say:

A donde puedo encontrar ........... ?
(good for singular and plural items).

or your could also say:

A donde esta ........... ? (for singular items)

and

A donde estan ...........? (for plural items).

This last phrase would be translated as "where is" ?

HTH

"Do you know where I can find _______"

To ask a longer question, you would ask:

Me puede (usted) decir a donde esta(n) ?

Me puede (usted) decir a donde puedo encontra ?

Usted is the formal form of "you". You can use it or not in the sentence and it's still good.

This would be like asking: Can you tell me where to find ?

Gwad, I have to be careful and check my spelling, wouldn't wanna give you incorrect information. If I only did that with all my postings there would be less mistakes to regret, lol!

It's all good. So print it out if you want.

Gracias!

I'm going to bookmark this thread and put it in the "Spanish Lesson" file I put together and keep adding to it.

I figure I'll start with the raw basics and try to just remember the sentence first by repetition and practicing which word goes where and which word means what. Later, when I'm hopefully more fluent, I'll get into the formalities of using singluar, plural, and formal use of "you."

Buenos noches. (grin)

Buenos noches

Not to nitpick, but you did say you are learning the language. *grin*

'Noches' is feminine so the qualifying adjective must also be feminine. It is 'buenas noches'.

As I said, I'm not being pedantic -- just helping you learn.

Goat

I think you missed this post on another thread a little while ago.

Yes, I did miss it. I left a post for Member2586 (my Spanish teacher - grin) but didn't go back to the thread again so missed your lesson on "buenas noches" below:

'Noches' is feminine so the qualifying adjective must also be feminine. It is 'buenas noches'.

Thanks. And since you said in your other post you hoped I didn't mind you correcting me on the right word to use, let me say I never mind being corrected about anything when it comes to learning. Okay, I'll now say it the right way:

Buenas noches!

My post above is on the wrong thread. I moved it.

I am far from fluent in the language, but I can make myself be understood and can understand about 80% of it when it is spoken. I can read about 90% of it. I could probably understand 90%, but they speak it so damn fast!

While I must admit I am sympathetic to the CC's and Lou Dobbs of this world, I gotta admit, Illegal Immigration has never been much of a personal Issue for me.

Here in South Louisiana we don't see much of it. Even in St. Louis when I bartended, the biggest illegal immigrant concern was whether or not Juan's cousin would bring him to work in time to bus the evening rush.

So on principal, I'll stand behind you and act shocked and appalled at the horrible illegal immigration problem, but I doubt it'll be a voting criteria for me.

Just wait till its your identity.
For me, it started when an workers comp benefits admin. called me asking if I was working in another city, wanted to know why I had 2 accounts. I guess it was going to be cheaper to role it all into one account, and she was perplexed that I had not mentioned it for 3 years.

3 years.

They arrested the guy that same day.

"'Noches' is feminine so the qualifying adjective must also be feminine. It is 'buenas noches'."

Asi es Goatman. It's difficult to explain to people who are English speakers that in Spanish, and other romantic languages, nouns are either female or male. English is much easier in the respect because it is neutral. Of course, people call ships "she" and such, but the sme article "the" is used.

"Is is possible that the reason we don't get tought on identity theft is that it would harm illegal immigration and corporations could not get their precious slave labor? Might be."

ARTICLE XIII. Neither slavery...except as a punishment for a crime...duly convicted...

So, the employers have slaves before conviction of the crime.

Fix problem, employers. Report your illegal immigrant employees. Ask for leniency. Then, buy your employees back from the gov't after they're convicted of illegally being here. Have your slave back, legally.

Ah, the immigrants didn't know they were violating the law by using stolen Social Security Numbers.

Bad news travels like wildfire. They'll be aware soon enough.

The penalties should include beating with bamboo. We need to copy Singapore law enforcement. That would discourage them.

The effrontery of those defending the illegals and their "right" to harm Americans with the scope of their criminal conduct, boggles the mind.

But then, some of you decadent degenerates defend professional criminals who come here to ply their trade as burglars, drug dealers, and who knows what else, and would persecute a man who cleans the environment up by dispatching them. We need a song composed lauding Mr. Horn.

I have represented several undocumented immigrants charged with ID theft. Eventually the charges are always reduced to misdemeanors and the accused are released on probation. Sometimes we never find out who the people actually are. But their fingerprints are now in the FBI database for future reference.
