Alex--I don't hold Savage to anything..
I am not and could not back up his statement of 99%.
And if you want to tear down the premise of Savage's premise that something is wrong with the diagnosis of autism--you have to do better than that.
A person's arguement is not based on just ONE comment to prove it wrong. You know that.
From your link--
People with autism also process and respond to information in unique ways. In some cases, aggressive and/or self-injurious behavior may be present. Persons with autism may also exhibit some of the following traits:
Insistence on sameness; resistance to change
Difficulty in expressing needs, using gestures or pointing instead of words
Repeating words or phrases in place of normal, responsive language
Laughing (and/or crying) for no apparent reason; showing distress for reasons not apparent to others
Preference to being alone; aloof manner
Tantrums
Difficulty in mixing with others
Not wanting to cuddle or be cuddled
Little or no eye contact
Unresponsive to normal teaching methods
Sustained odd play
Spinning objects
Obsessive attachment to objects
Apparent over-sensitivity or under-sensitivity to pain
No real fears of danger
Noticeable physical over-activity or extreme under-activity
Uneven gross/fine motor skills
Non-responsive to verbal cues; acts as if deaf, although hearing tests in normal range
There are millions of kids who exhibit this behavior and the quack doctors want to put pigeon hole the kids into some BS category of autism????
Does it occur to you--if you have kids--that kids exhibit ALL--I mean ALL these behaviors--at some time or another.
How would you like your kids put into a box of autism --just because--
"Difficulty in expressing needs, using gestures or pointing instead of words"
Every 18 month child does this!
"Insistence on sameness; resistance to change"
This is every rightwinger for eternity!
"Repeating words or phrases in place of normal, responsive language"
This is BBob!!!
"Laughing (and/or crying) for no apparent reason"
This is for women on menopause!
"Noticeable physical over-activity or extreme under-activity"
What the phuck is this?!!
So if the child is over active or extremely UNDER Active--they are autistic??
It is horrible for folks--families and kids who actually have autism.
Doesn't this SEEM to be OVERLY BROAD?? Just a bit??
But don't try and fool folks about this as being the "TEST" for autism.
