"It could take years before the United States would be allowed to impose economic sanctions on Beijing for failing to comply with the ruling. If it opts not to appeal, China has an undefined "reasonable period" to end the tariffs. If it does not, the United States would have to appeal to a separate WTO panel and win a ruling that China had not taken corrective action before it could impose sanctions. The process is designed to convince countries to work out their differences."

China will ignore this or postpone changing their laws for long enough to insure that they get as many American jobs outsourced as possible and the corporate executives in America will cooperate with them 100%. We should ignore WTO and immediately impose tariffs to protect American jobs and give the finger to any nation in the world that objects. To most other countries America look like the biggest sucker in the world. They laugh at us as we conduct "free trade."

I think we need to be out of the WTO. We should impose tarrifs, not to protect anyone, but in response to them closing their markets to our goods. Reciprocal free trade would work best. If they have quotas or tarrifs on our goods, we should have quotas and tarrifs on their goods. And we should have tarrifs on countries that don't let their currency float freely. I don't care if the Chinese need time to do this, it's not our problem, we should look out after our own national interests.

Also Liberals have a point when the talk about environemntal issues in trade deals. We should not agree to any emissions targets unless other countries do so as well. The fact that they are poorer and want to develop is not our problem. We should not commit economic suicide while our population declines into poverty just because they millions of their people to get out of poverty. Again, not our problem. Our national interest is our problem. I'll let others worry about their own damn country.
