Drudge Retort: Red Meat for Yellow Dogs

New York City has long been the highest tax jurisdiction in the United States, but California politicians are proposing to steal that brass tiara. California faces a $15 billion budget deficit and Democrats who rule the state Legislature have proposed closing the gap with a $9.7 billion tax hike on business and "the rich." There's a movie that describes this idea: Clueless.

First, the AAA auto club declared it will close its call centers in California, meaning that 900 jobs will move to other states.

Yes cause we all know that every single call center worker is in the top income tax bracket.

Glad I left!

I'm next to go.

We are too.

900 jobs is "very large"? Oh, it's the WSJ, of course.

Did you miss the part about Toyota taking their factory to Mississippi?

How long do you think it will be before other jobs start moving out of california?

Everybody in California, including the Republican governor, recognize something needs to be done. It is that simple. Given the size and strength of Cals economy, most of those affected by any increased taxes should be able to absorb it over the medium run.

Good for them dumbasses.
They made their bed now whine in it.

rwd

Once again, RWD is an idiot. There is a reason why California, on it's own, is the seventh largest economy in the world. It seems only right wingers and people not in California are "whining" about it.

Damn it, this just pisses me off!!! Somebody go out and do a drive by for me.

I'm next to go.

Why don't you just bring yer little butt down here, Sugar.

We don't have a state income tax.

Our economy and job growth is booming.

We'd love to have you.

Our economy and job growth is booming.

shhhh. Don't let the secret out. Everyone else thinks it sucks here. Let them keep on thinking that. I'm tired of hearing the immigrants with a Brooklyn accent whine about how hot it is and how bad the pizza tastes

You're sweet to say that, Pinche. You had me at "howdy." (grin)

You seem like you would fit in CC. I have a feeling you would not be one of these los estupidos who come here for a better life, but bitch, bitch, bitch, that it ain't like home, but stay anyway.

Your type is welcome. I wish the whiners would stay away, though.

Would I be allowed at least one "bitch" if I can't have all three?
Could never live anywhere that didn't allow me to bitch just a little. (grin)

...I'm tired of hearing the immigrants with a Brooklyn accent whine about how hot it is and how bad the pizza tastes...

I don't have an accent. Seriously, don't know where I'm headed just yet. Too much other stuff to take care of first before I give any state some serious thought. But if I ever did get down that way, although I might not like your Texas heat, I'd never complain about Texas pizza -- or your Texas chili or Tex-Mex -- or even you Texans. (grin)

Bitching is OK. I think what pisses Texans off the most is that people whine and bitch because they don't like the lifestyle or heat or whatever, yet they stay. A Texan's attitude is, "If you don't like it, leave".

I'd never complain about Texas pizza -- or your Texas chili or Tex-Mex -- or even you Texans.

Most Texans would welcome you with open arms then. They are very friendly and very accomodating people.

mmmmmm,Tex-Mex!

I'd move back to Farmers Branch if I knew I could eat lunch at Mercado Juarez every day.

goatman - have you seen any of those bumper stickers that say "we don't give a sh*t how you did it in california!" love those and have not missed cali one single moment in the last nine years.

i love texans!

Hollywood liberals shouldn't mind. So many of them are upset about the Bush tax cuts; what should be the difference to them, whether to send their money to Washington, or to Sacramento?

My only concern is that taxes in California are too low. For everybody. What the legislature should do is retroactively take back ALL the Bush tax cuts, for everybody--including child tax credits, adoption credits, capital gains on home sales, and so on--and send out invoices to everyone. Rich, middle class, poor--it's time everyone paid their fair share of taxes. What Bush giveth, Arnie and the Dems (no difference these days) taketh away.

My only concern is that taxes in California are too low. For everybody.

RightisWrong

You're insane. At least financially insane.
