FIRST!!

Never been first on The Nooner (blushing)

Congratulations on your first Nooner, Fair.

Wait, that doesn't sound right...

I had a fair nooner once. herm

Just little ol' me confusing cauliflower with electrolytic fruit juices.

"Democrats brought forth their 'Use It or Lose It' bill without knowing it was already the law of the land," said GOP Whip Roy Blunt, R-Mo. "Today we're reminded that the majority's efforts to 'unlock' NPR-A are about as necessary as passing a bill ordering the sun to rise."

OIL

Decided to put this post on the Nooner as there are so many oil drilling threads up I tbought I'd use the Nooner to catch everyone.

Right now on CSPAN both the Senate (previously) and now the House are debating the oil issue -- drilling, oil leases, who's lying and who isn't, etc. It may sound boring but you sure learn a lot of facts. Both sides are weighing in. Anyone who's interested in this subject which is affecting us financially should tune in.

btw -- It was revealed today on C-SPAN in one of the Senator's debating points that the head of Exxon and another oil company confirmed (they were under oath at the time) that the price of oil should now be around $50 -$55 a barrel. The number of oil speculators (one of the things driving up the price) have doubled since 2000 when Bush took office. Just like I posted yesterday, one Senator confirmed today that Bush has gotten rid (or castrated) most regulators who are government watchdogs and that includes for the oil industry, banking industry, you name it.

Lots of info being tossed out there on the House floor. Good ammo for our dicussions here. Turn on CSPAN

Interesting side bit on oilspeculators-step daughter is dating a pilot. He says airlines are among the biggest speculators-buying lots of oil for future consumption and paying a premium to get it secured.

Need to ask some advice.

Headed to the Market Street Oyster Bar tonight for dinner with my cousin.

Anyone know the best type of RAW oyster to order?

Here are the selections they offer on thier website.

Blue Point, Chesapeake Bay, Virginia
Medium, Firm, Briny, Fresh, Strong
Royal Miyagi, Cortez Island, British Columbia
Medium, Mild, Clean, Kiwi Finish
Mirada, Hood Canal, Washington
Medium, Sweet, Firm, Crisp
Deer Creek, Deep Bay, British Columbia
Medium, Delicate, Sweet, Fresh, Fruity

So you're a Carnie. That explains quite a bit.

Steamed clams are my favorite with melted butter and lemon. Yummm.

Which explains why Southwest Airlines bought their futures at about $50 a barrel? As for these so caalled speculators... Are they not investors representing unions, PERS and every other 401 or pension funds? Because they are making profits it is a bad thing?

Don't know much about the various oysters but Blue Point oysters mentioned as good ones. Some oysters are saltier than others so I guess it's a personal preference.

Here's a link to some different types. Blue Point is mentioned.

OYSTERS

Bon appetit

Thanks Cali,

I did a little research as well and I think I'll stick with the Blue Point.

BTW, I have to ask again. It was only a month or two ago I figured out you were female (not that it matters). I always assumed you were a guy. I'm not sure why.

Did you do that on purpose or am I just an assumptive idiot?

Who is that guy on the upper left side of the comments page wearing a flight helmet and why is he there?

That there is the Deserter-in-Chief, aka worst president in history. He's there to serve as a constant reminder to the Right that they shouldn't vote.

FAILED FACT!!

2112,

The only name I am familiar with is the Blue Point as well. Quite amazing. Also remember some from Cape Breton as well as BC that are worth mentioning.

A bit of tobasco, or lemon...down the hatch. Sprinkle generously with beer and vodka shots.

Hope your gfriend is well rested.

We have positions established, but at declining amounts. Last year, more than 90 percent of our fuel was hedged at approximately $50 per barrel. This year it's over 70 percent hedged at approximately $51 per barrel. In 2009, it's over 55 percent at $51. In 2010, it's nearly 30 percent at $63 per barrel. In 2011, it's over 15 percent at approximately $64 per barrel and in 2012, it's over 15 percent at approximately $63.

Can you believe this shit? I just went to McDonalds, and finished eating my lunch on the car ride. I threw the bag and wrappers, as well as a half finished coke out the window, and at the red light some liberal had the fucking balls to bitch about it!

Yeah! And he probably would have bitched about it even if you had missed him!

CalChris-Leaving the hospital at last. Should be within 2 weeks or less. I will be quite near in the Long Beach/Lakewood Area. Over 3 years, it seems like forever. Somebody pinch me! Not that hard!!

Jesse Jackson has apologized for all of the crap he said including the "N(igger)" word.

Hey asshole, why not make a special apology to Don Imus for all of the crap you put on him!

Think how Don Ho must have felt!

Translation: I was dumpster diving and scored a half eaten Big Mac but it fell out of my shopping cart/home and when some liberal offered to give me lunch money I threw up my sterno on his shoes.

Why is it Imus making a joke was front page news, but Jackson throwing out the N-word is not?

Come on NG3 we all know facts, conservatives are bigger donors to charity than libs (even though libs have more money to give).

Don't worry Rob, Sharpton will be demanding Jesse step down from whatever he does.

Since you've asked me about it before and now today, I went back and found my post in which I pretty much explained things. Just click on
this link and see my 12:21 a.m. post. I don't want to take up a bunch of room on the Nooner so it's easier if you just read the link.

If Rev. Hagel said what Jackson said and there was video of it it, RCade would have it as a huge headline on the front page... so why not this?

Imus was a front page story, Michael Richards was a front page story... what the fuck?

James Dobson, Oral Roberts Pat Robertson and Swift Boat Veterans for Bush all prove you right.

LOL....you should have put up a better alternative than Ketchup Kerry.

LOL....you should have put up a better alternative than Ketchup Kerry.

We did, but Harris the hag and five assklowns on SCOTUS made sure he wasn't elected.

And God has been punishing us ever since....

On Tuesday Bush gave a speech at exactly the same time that Bernanke was speaking (10:20), concidently of course. In his analysis of the State of our Economy, Shrub made a string of hairbrained statements in direct contradiction to what Bernanke was saying.

Housing inflation and bursting bubble is a direct consequence of Greenspan's efforts to shore up an economy otherwise dead, with fraudulent home loans and ramapnt home construction. No big deal, the Democrats will have to clean it up, at which time they can also be blamed.

That's terrific news and I'm glad you didn't have to wait a much longer time to transfer out. Now you'll have a regular place be able to just settle in. Plus this should enable you probably make some steady friends instead of seeing different people come and go. Time for a shot of VO to celebrate! (grin)

Maybe your clock is four years too slow....I said Ketchup Kerry. Also, the other one couldn't even carry his home State of Tennessee.....you look so sad when you cry.

My A/C is broken, I got home this evening and walked into a 90 degree house and got a clue. I am sat here in shorts and a t-shirt, front door is open (with a baby gate in front of it) back door is open (it is cooler outside that it is inside), I have showered down myself and all three dogs to keep us cool, arghhhhhhh,

LilBrit

What's the matter with your A/C? You need to be sure you've got a clean filter if it's working but maybe not pumping out enough air. Or else you need some of that coolant that's put in the A/C. One thing you can do is get yourself a fan. Mine is about 20 inches across and slowlly moves back and forth at 3 speeds. I keep it nearby when I go to bed at night so I have a breeze and it feels great. Otherwise it would be too hot to sleep. I'm getting a taste of what summers must be like back East and in the South. We've had unually humid weather for California and it's that way again tonight. Just sucks the energy out of you when you're not use to it.

bwt -- I left Katieberry a post on the "Fattest states: Mississippi" thread about how you are able to grow so many things. She grows stuff in her yard also. Why don't you two guys think about starting a gardening/cooking thread once a week? But wait until this hot summer is gone!

Chris - it is the heat pump that has died, the air handler is working fine, but the big ole unit out in the garden is deader than dead, it was only replaced in 1999 after Hurricaine Floyd, guess we shouldn't have chosen a cheap one.

To the tune of "Swing low sweet chariot""

Swing low old Jesse Jackson
Benden down for Al Sharpton
Bend low old Jesse Jackson
Sharpton's gonna be ball deep!

That aught to be about right! ?

The preceding song can have Don Imus substituted for Al Sharpton, in fact make up you own chorus.
