My S.O. took a nursing job here, that's why we moved in the first place. She now has mandatory naps breaks, half the patients of her old gig for double the money.

My only disappointment is wasting so much of my life in red-state shitholes.

There is a tree in my neighborhood older than The British Empire. Among the five closest houses to me four languages are spoken. I few miles west I surf in the ocean, a few miles east I hike in an old growth forest. My "rec. card" will allow 6 mature plants legally. All the birds are tanned and fit. And I'm pretty sure the head is better since picking up stakes.

Her career is a big reason she likes it here so much. And when she is happy, Im happy.

She loves her job. She loved her job back in CO. Hell, she liked her first job right out of school with 12 patients a shift working 7 days a week. But here she gets paid more and can give better care to the patients assigned to her. That means more people under her watch get better and go home healthy. Unlike, say lawyers, she doesn't measure her worth by the amount of billable hours she can rack up at a desk.

Hell one only has to look at who controls the State Government, US Senates, the largest cities mayors to know why they vote dems. You may be making a mistake if you are assuming the label of Republican means one is necessarily conservative... ESPECIALLY if you think Arnold is a conservative.

Some of that same stuff in reverse - this past election cycle you had fairly conservative people running as Dems in many districts.

If you do believe Arnold is a conservative, can you pick a few issues where he's on the con side? I live near the east coast and really don't keep up with CA state politics a great deal.

Firstly, he has frequently stood up to many of the State's most powerful unions. This has cost him to lost a good deal of support. He has done so in the name of fiscal restraint. He may have pissed off a lot of people in the process, but the only alternative is the tax increases we are now seeing.
Secondly, he has no qualms about the death penalty.
Thirdly, he has frequently spoken out against AA.
Fourthly, if memory serves, he has refused to go on record as supporting gay marriage.
And so forth.
