Drudge Retort: Red Meat for Yellow Dogs

A House of Representatives committee's investigation into Cpl. Pat Tillman's death in Afghanistan has hit a dead end -- nobody in a position of responsiblity could remember when they were informed of the fratricide or what they did about it.

The "I don't recall" defense is well chronicled. As much as some people would like to see something, anything, that would make those in the military or Dubya's administration look bad... here's a major case of CYA. The likelihood of those in power revealing their duplicitous acts is slim to none. And it looks like none left town.

Tillman was fragged but no one wants to say it. Bad PR.

I second those thoughts. What a shame. A guy who gave up a promising career making tons of money to be a patriot who puts his money where his mouth has his memory and honor treated like this.

This is an example of the liberal MSM politicizing the war.

FACT!

(Started my post and got interrupted. Should have checked before publishing. You get the idea)

"Friendly - Fire" is not uncommon, but it happens
in the heat of combat. It's shameful that the truth
was not immediatley told, but that doesn't mean that
Tillman was murdered. He was famous, so the brass
wanted to portray his death in a false light. There
was no evil-intent, but, yes, it was wrong to report
that his death was not a "friendly-fire" incident.
This also doesn't take away from the fact that
Tillman was a hero and died in the service of his
country.

Pat Tillman was a straight-up person; what you saw
was what you got. It is ironic that the military
portrayed his death in a phoney way.

"Pat Tillman was a straight-up person; what you saw
was what you got."

Sorry I never met him.

They do come by from time-to-time.

Sometime they're uncles; Sometimes they're IBM fellows; Sometimes they're cats; Sometimes they're crickets; Sometimes they're Prime Ministers with a taste for cognac.

They make getting up in the morning worth the trouble.

The knowledge that you might meet another one keeps suicide at bay.

Everything James Dean publishes is troll spam.

Is this putz one of Ozzie Oozeswallow's coven? I'm having a little trouble telling the special bussers apart without a program.

Between these 82 "umm I fogot" and Speedy Gonzalez' umpteen "I forget"s its easy to understand why MCSame is the GOPpers choice.

They are celebratign Reagan's alzheimers.

I'm all in favor of the ADA, but brain damaged folks are hardly the ones you want to run the country, though they seem to be the choice of the Right.

You are trash!!! I hope you have to answer to the Tillman family eye ball to eye ball you right wing COWARD CHICKEN HAWK!

GOD BLESS PAT and KEVIN TILLMAN AND FAMILY.
The rightwing piece of crap who posted the above may you burn in hell with Bush, Cheney and Rumsfeld

The knowledge that you might meet another one keeps suicide at bay.

I hear that loud and clear. But then again, you knew DeBakey. I can only hope.

From all I've read, it seems Pat Tilman himself was politicizing the war, being disillusioned once he actually got into the field, despite having volunteered. Rumour has it, he was fragged to put a stop to him opening his famous mouth in the states, which given his "martyred patriot" status was a double win for old Rummy.

Until of course, it all came out.

Of course, that's just a "liberal" slant, right?

The left here gives the appearance of praising a soldier for the sole reason that there was an investigation with the possibility to blame some Republican somewhere. The left doesn't and hasn't praised the thousands of other soldiers and instead call them stupid, murders, tools etc. But I will give you the benefit of the doubt and accept your humble sincerity in honoring one of America's finest even as you rant, cuss, and belittle others as you do in the process.

KBM

For all Tillman sacrificed to be in Afghanistan, and then losing his own life, don't you think his family deserves to know what happened? I would if it happened to a family member of mine. All these folks who suddenly lost their memories of the aftermath of the event should be ashamed of themselves. Of course, they were all sitting in offices somewhere instead of out there with their asses on the line.

It's not a political issue. It's a right vs wrong.

For his family to not have closure is w r o n g

"It's not a political issue. It's right vs wrong."
AMERICANUNITY

Every day I become more convinced that trying to explain right and wrong to the Rumsfelds of the world is like trying to explain color to a blind man. Our first clue should have been when they said we were involved in a struggle of good vs evil. They didn't say which side they were on.

Completely off topic, but I can see that you're already preparing for the next four years, when everything will be McCain's fault.

Same lame-ass pathetic knee-jerk as blaming Bush for everything. Automatically and without thinking.

Must be lonely to be you.

And since McCain is responsible for Tillman's death (in your weak and confused mind) how many times did Hillary! 'not recall' during the Rose Law Firm investigations

And the public falls for one every time...

And will continue to fall for them...

We love to be lied to so we can get back to our ball games, must see tv, blissfully ignorant lives.

See ya soon, Springer is on.....

Pathetic deflection, Vern, even for you. Aren't you the in the least curious as the real reasons and maner of Pat Tillman's death? I'd like to know, and I don't much care where the rabbit hole takes me.

Posted by vernon ******

......nobody mentioned Bush until you did........

......no one assigned blame to Bush for Tillman's death.........

......however, lets change the concept of "blame" to "responsibility".........

......who is responsible for killing Tillman from a few yards away ?......and who is responsible for lying to the family & the world about the circumstances of his death ?.......

............R-e-s-p-o-n-s-i-b-
i-l-i-t-y.............

Aways suspected it was all about drugs myself.
He got whacked by his own unit because he was gonna blow the whistle on a little opium trafficking. Just my gut feeling.

"""Based on the characteristics of the entrance wounds, the doctors who performed the autopsy on Tillman said it appeared as though he was shot by a United States Navy Mark 12 Mod X Special Purpose Rifle from approximately 100 yards (90 m) away. The Mark 12 chambers a 5.56 mm round (versus the traditional 7.62 mm or larger sniper round). It is likely that a Ranger sniper fired the three single shots that formed the shot group on Tillmans forehead.[citation needed]"""

Accident indeed. Imagine the impact of a Tillman that would have morphed from a patriotic cheerleader to an anti-war activist. Can't have that uncle rummy now can we?

Pancho,
Why would a sniper put 3 rounds in anyones forehead? One is enough. 2 is overkill. 3 sounds like somebody on "burst" and at a much closer range than 90 meters (nobody, lucky or otherwise is placing 3 rounds in a forehead on burst unless they are within about 20ft of the person).

The conspiracy around Tillman is laughable. There are way too many Rangers around. Many of them undoubtably his close friends. A few that liked him, but not enough to hang with him. A few that thought he was a douche.
Either way, there's no way he was killed in some conspiracy, especially with his brother in the same unit. His brother may be sour grapes, who wouldn't be after your bro was killed.

"""who wouldn't be after your bro was killed."""

Agreed, but why not just tell the truth if it was an accident? The autopsy reports are a bit strange:

Good call on the distance though.

......why are the witnesses unwilling to tell the truth ?......

It sounds like a major cop-out, but the military is their own worst enemy when it comes to PR.

I read that the Platoon Leader and his RTO were both injured and medivac'd. When they left, they were unaware that the parties involved in the shooting had basically agreed it was fratricide. The PL had reported that it was an ambush and subsequent firefight that claimed the life of the 2 soldiers (Tillman and an Afghani Soldier). Once that ball got rolling the follow-up that it was most likely friendly fire got left in the dust. The story and legend grew, and the higher-ups ran with it.

It was a horribly bad fuck up. There shouldn't be any excuse for it. The only thing I can say is it's par for the course.

It was like Jessica Lynch and Shoshone Whateverthefcuk her name was...Anyone that ever served knew their story was bullshit. The whole idea that they were involved in some serious shootout defied logic. The truth (that they were lost, failed to maintain weapons, and were in disarray) was exactly how I envisioned it. Before that war, support staff always had an attitude that they didn't need to know how to read maps, maintain essential combat equipment, pay attention to infantry tatics etc...Especially their officers.

no matter how many medals the leaders of this fiasco investigation may earn they will never
hold a candle to this guy.

So once again your talking out of your ass.

There's my puppet.
How's summer school treating you?

Did you get that $.15 an hour raise you were hoping for? Maybe when you get your diploma you can negotiate a $.25/hour? Dare to dream huh bitch?

I wonder if some advanced interrogation techniques would get Rumsfeld and the other 'senior officials' to start recalling facts in these situations.
