They burn the American Flag in the fireplace.

This is a really dumb move.

Who owns this rag?

I can't find the name of the owner of this magazine..

Too sophisticated for this electorate. Obama knows that.

I found it quite humorous, though. What a slap in the face to the idiots that won't let the lies go. It's a huge poke in the eye of the rumor mongrels and GOP myrmidon.

McCain spokesman Tucker Bounds quickly e-mailed: We completely agree with the Obama campaign, its tasteless and offensive.--

Aw. McCain's gotta come up with something else to run against him now.

Don't get your ankles all up in the air over it Murph. The New Yorkers been around a very long time with great authors and a biting New York satiric wit. Something that you sorely lack..

I can't find the name of the owner of this magazine..

Posted by MURPHY at 2008-07-13 09:15 PM

Well I could and did.

It appears this sleezy hit piece on Obama came from the highest level of the owners of "Advance Publications" who own the New Yorker and many other magazines. The owner is a long time Republican billionaire buddy of the Bush -- Samuel Irving Newhouse, Jr. He and his brother Don Newhouse evidently worked with some hit pieces along with Rove and other assorted Bush hit men to help take down a former Democrat Governor of Alabama. It didn't take long to find all the sleezy connections.

Even though this article pretends to be satire and only dissing the so-called "politics of fear" about Obama being a Muslim radical, they know all too well the damage is done because 90% of the people who see this anti-Obama cartoon will never bother to read the article. The cartoon image however, will remain in their minds which is just what the Bush operatives want to happen.

Anyone who thinks Rove, the GOP smear machine, and the Bush cartel are not out to get rid of Obama and put their boy McCain the the White House for Bush's 3rd term in office is too naive and dumb to vote.

Wikipedia:

Samuel Irving Newhouse, Jr. (born November 8, 1927), nicknamed Si Newhouse, is the chairman and CEO of Advance Publications, which, among other interests, owns Cond Nast Publications, which owns magazines like Vogue, Vanity Fair and The New Yorker among many others. He is the son of Samuel Irving Newhouse, Sr., founder of Advance Publications. His grandson, S.I. Newhouse IV, appeared in the documentary Born Rich.

Newhouse attended the Horace Mann School in New York City. He is a billioniare with an estimated net worth of $8.5 billion, and he is currently ranked the 37th Richest American by Forbes Magazine in 2007...

Too sophisticated for this electorate.

LOL I can't wait for the likes of sniper to be pointing that the left knows how radical Obama is after all just look at the cover of That NY magazine.

As Murph ironically points out you can't make this stuff up...

This is a really dumb move

No, Murph.

It's satire.

The rightwing smear machine has gone into overdrive this time.

Painting Obama to be a million negative and often contradictory things.

He's a secret Muslim.
He's a radical Christian.
He's a racist.
He's too black.
He's not black enuff.
He's a corporate tool.
He's a radical marxist.
He's an elitist.
He hates America.

And a whole host of similar lies that when you compound them (as the right surely has) They begin to appear, to even the dimmest of wits, as laughably absurd.

That sed, the pic was bound to cause controversy and to cause both campaigns to decry the depiction on grounds of class, taste and non-PCness.

Spud sez Feh.

People who get uptight about obvious satire need to chill out.

In poor taste?

The smears themselves?

You bet.

A picture satirizing them?

Not so much.

G08ama.

Be Well.

/Poppin' his wee head in the door is the DR's one and only talkin', typin, tater o' doom, entering as ya do,
stage left.

I don't like hit pieces and smear campaigns of lies no matter which side does it.
I hope Obama is ready for what is in store for him when the Bush political attack machine get into high gear. Obama ain't seen nothing yet. What's worse is he and McCain are almost tied! How can that be when McCain is openly running for a third term of the WORSE President in U.S. history?

I sure hope the Democrats did not totally f--k this up by putting an almost unknown Senator -- with some quite questionable buddies and a wacko racist spiritual mentor-- to run in this election. God help us all if we get stuck with McBush and 4 more years of Bush's disasterous policies. I will blame the Dems for not picking a stronger candidate. When you bring a new guy in almost no one has heard of before you also allow your opponents to define him and that's what the Bush operatives are trying to do. Just look at this cartoon.

Thanks for the info CC--

This magazine does hit pieces on Republicans!

"Much is said in Jest"..posted by poster in the link.

So this is ok by folks?

And if they do the same thing with McCain--it'll be the Jest or Satire or the Truth?

Tater

People who get uptight about obvious satire need to chill out.

You're not thinking straight. If you believe the blue collar guys in Pennsylvania and Ohio and the rural states Obama needs to win are going to read the article you're sadly mistaken. How many of those households are going to have copies of the New Yorker on their coffee table next to their copies of "Rod and Reel" and "Sports Illustrated." Get real.

But this cartoon I can guarantee you will be seen on every right wing blog and commented on by every right wing talk radio show from now until the election. And NO they will not give much talk time to the "satirical" nature of the cartoon -- if any at all. The damage is done.

CC

They should have given Bush a reading comprehension test before they ran him, eh?

Obama's smart. He'll surround himself with the best and the brightest people.

CC--Obama is being defined by his own actions--Obama sat in the church for 20 years, friends with bombers of the Pentagon and Capital and running so fast to the right he is tripping over himself to get there. He is an elitist and embarrased of America. Wait for him to speak in front of La Raza--McCain too.--The most radical latino group in America--these guys are going to pander to tomorrow here in San Diego.

This is not going to be taken as "satire" by a great deal of Americans who are going to be bombarded by this cartoon.

Michelle looks like Angela Davis! Is that Osama over the fireplace mantle? In the OVAL Office?

And this is satire? Excuse me for not getting the joke.

And this is satire? Excuse me for not getting the joke.

FF for Bani--

But Obama hasnt been to Germany yet! ;o)

MURPH

Is it safe to assume you're a staunch right wing Republican?

Guess so since you voted for a proven moron twice who's gotten us in the biggest mess a President has ever undertaken without cause, especially after the lessons of Vietnam. But, since he was drunk all throughout that war wasting his million dollar training in bars he must have missed those few years which would should have served as a huge STOP sign.

Then there's the massive debt, enriching and borrowing from the Communist Chinese (who supported our 'enemies' in Vietnam and Korea), etc etc

Thanks for nothing

But, if it rocks your world to bash Obama have at it. Means nothing. You should check out Zogby's state by state polls. Gonna be a rout by Obama. America's had it's fill of 'conservatives' for a couple of decades at least.

:-)

Here MURPH

PS MURPH

I think you're a pretty decent person from what I've seen. Just ill informed and on the wrong side of history this time..

:-)

But this cartoon I can guarantee you will be seen on every right wing blog and commented on by every right wing talk radio show from now until the election. And NO they will not give much talk time to the "satirical" nature of the cartoon -- if any at all.

~CChris

Uh-huh. While Spud appreciates the fact that a lot of people on the right are stupid enuff to drink the kool-ade and buy into all the smears (regardless of whether or not they contradict themselves) Spud also appreciates the fact that they will be openly mocked for showing themselves to be the fools they are.

Deservedly so.

Anyone who can't see the smear campaign fer wot it is and who can actually take the caricature of Obama projected by the right wing smear machine for the man himself will be derided as being the assholes who didn't get that the joke was on them.

And as you say, ...The damage is done

This picture satirises Obama's enemies not Obama himself.

This will help Obama, ultimately.

Be Well.

Interesting data from your link AU:

State: Arizona:
Obama - 42%
McCain - 39%
Barr - 7%
Nader - 2%
Someone else - 5%
Undecided - 5%

9% of Republicans choose Barr, including 16% of the Very Conservative. Obama beats McCain among Independents, 51%-28%.

Would have thought McCain would be doing better in his home state.

"Obama's smart. He'll surround himself with the best and the brightest people."

Just like he did before he ran for president. Right?

AU--

You assssssume tooo much! ;o)

I voted for Gore.

I figure I am more conservative now--but more independent and democrat for 20 years.

I wasn't bashing Obama on this.

Everyone knows that Republicans and "people who cling to their guns and religion" dont' have a sense of humor! ;o)

So when a left leaning magazine does this cartoon?

What does that say?

Much can be said by Jesting--you read between the lines.

And what rout? Obama leads by 3 nationwide and the states are going nowhere...

How do you explain if there are 15% more Dems and Obama is only leading by 3%??

BTW--I can't stand Obama--but for his stance on issues along with his lack of judgment in picking friends.

CC,

But the New Yorker supported Kerry, can you find when this ownership happened...
www.smh.com.au

So when a left leaning magazine does this cartoon?

What does that say?

It says your wrong about this being a "left-leaning" magazine. Didn't you read my 9:37 p.m. post about who owns the New Yorker and many other publications -- Newshouse -- a big billionaire Bush/Rove Republican buddy. Why keep saying you're surprised? It's no surprise to me or anyone else who looks at the owner.

How do you explain if there are 15% more Dems and Obama is only leading by 3%??

MURPHY

Because, after that Newsweek poll you were incensed about (because it had more Dems than Reps in the sample), everyone is making sure they have an equal number of Dems/Reps/Indies in each poll. There is still quite a large 'undecided' share too. But, not enough to guarantee McCain a victory. The shame of it is that had McCain STAYED McCain he might have stood a chance, but THIS McCain is someone people like my wife and I, who used to respect, don't recognize anymore.

But, and this is a BIG but, the state by state polling shows Obama will most likely win with well over 300 electoral votes no matter what national polls show. They're so undependable. A moth farts in Iowa and they're changed again.

Barr will also be a huge factor this time. The GOP base is not excited about McCain, and if he adds Romney to the ticket it will be even worse. All they'll have to do is show Romney as Gov. of Mass and compare those words to what he says now.

Anyway, I think the nation is just plain tired of 'conservatives'. They had their shot and blew it huge. Now we're 'nation building' in the wrong nation, heavily in debt, and have lost our moral high ground around the world. Pretty sad state of affairs compared to where we were January 20, 2001

Farmer John was in the fertilized egg business. He had several hundred young layers (hens), called 'pullets' and eight or ten roosters, to fertilize the pullets eggs.

John kept records and any rooster that didn't perform went into the soup pot and was replaced. That took an awful lot of his time so he bought a set of tiny bells and attached them to his roosters. Each bell had a different tone so John could tell from a distance, which rooster was performing. Now he could sit on the porch and fill out an efficiency report simply by listening to the bells.

The farmer's favorite rooster was Kevin, and a very fine specimen he was too, but on this particular morning John noticed Kevin's bell hadn't rung at all!

John went to investigate.

The other roosters were chasing pullets, bells-a-ringing. The pullets, hearing the roosters coming, would run for cover but to Farmer John's amazement, Kevin had his bell in his beak, so it couldn't ring.

He'd sneak up on a pullet, do his job and walk on to the next one.

John was so proud of Kevin, he entered him into the Sacramento Exhibition and Kevin became an overnight sensation among the judges.

The Result?

The judges not only awarded Kevin the No Bell Piece Prize but they also awarded him the Pulletsurprise as well.

Israeli traitors control the american media, the republican and democratic parties, congress, the pentagon, the office of homeland security, the cia, the defence intelligence agency, the state department, the national security council, and the presidency. The american military is implementing the foreign policies of the jews-only state in palestine. There is nothing american left about america. Is it not true that, "The neoconservatives are the greatest threat America has ever faced .." (Paul Craig Roberts Outfoxed by bin Laden www.antiwar.com). The battle for american independence was lost before most americans realized they were under attack. America is now the biggest and most powerful colony in the jewish empire.

...well, you get the gist. What was the article about? Anyone notice?

AndreaMackris

Got stuff to do now but here is a link to the New Yorker
New Yorker and scroll down to "Politics" and read.

As for Kerry, did it matter if the NYer wanted to endorse him and keep their liberal NY readers content? At the very top, the owners (Bush buddies) probably already knew the fix was in for Kerry to lose Ohio's electoral thanks to Diebold's owner announcing he would "make sure Bush carried Ohio." It didn't matter whom they endorsed then, did it?

Oddly enough...the new yorker was making fun of fox news here...since they called that the "terrorist fist bump" between the two just before his acceptance speech for the nomination. But the new yorker staff is SOOOO far inside their bubble, that they didn't understand that normal people wouldn't get the joke and be offended by it.

And since it has NOTHING to do with the article, that pic IS over the top and stupid.

Andrea mackris- I am a Republican supporter, voted twice for Bush

Conservatism is not dead--but does need electric shock. The Republicans blew it. Instead of leading the way further they blew our friggin money --they do need an attitude adjustment..

Bush legacy is SCOTUS picks --and for the record--(FTR)--that is MY biggest concern. POTUS come and go with their goofy ideas. That is the same this time around. Obama is NO changer--he is inexperienced and has no judgment and no core. He is from the Daley machine--he is not the changer--just look at his flip flops..

"AU--Bush is not a conservative--not like Reagan. "

He was a conservative hero 4 years ago.

FACT!

Bush is nearly exactly like reagan, he just doesn't have the popularity, so now all you people are turning on him.

Reagan cut domestic programs, gave tax cuts to the rich, and gave us a record debt.

What exactly has bush done to lose his "conservative" cred? He's anti abortion, anti stem cell, pro capital punishment, and prefer saber rattling to actual diplomacy.

Just because he surrounded himself with older less impressive versions of reagans staff, and it blew up in our face, doesn't make bush NOT conservative overnight.

You same folks were creaming your panties over him a few years ago. Now that it's obvious your ideology sucked it...bush is suddenly a "liberal" or "not conservative enough".

Why should we let the country go down the shitter voting on abortion and gay rights?

I just read a very interesting book by Mickey Kantor, former GOP Congressman from OK called "Grand New Party".

He's incensed, as many REAL conservatives, over how that term was hijacked by Bush, Rush, and their ilk.

REAL conservatives, like Barry Goldwater, didn't think it was their business what a woman did with her reproductive rights.

You same folks were creaming your panties over him a few years ago. Now that it's obvious your ideology sucked it...bush is suddenly a "liberal" or "not conservative enough".

HW Bush lost because his lips moved about taxes and looked at his watch during a debate and Perot.

I will defend the Conservative priciples which are Pro-American and Pro-US.

We can have disagreements over ideology--no problem--but we can agree that both sides of the aisle do WANT the BEST for the country.

I mean that in the best way.

I was talking to his PR man days before his loss at the Rockerfeller Center (we met at my brother's reception) & he agreed with me that Rubbers was going to lose because of his abortion stance...

(which is kind of funi...the bush legacy & all that:>)

years ago Bill Clinton stated that GW never would have had a chance (even with the massive vote tampering that did occur) if Gore had been more pro-guns.

but we can agree that both sides of the aisle do WANT the BEST for the country.

And Obamas have lied that they never knew about those preachings. Everyone knows about their preacher and what they preach--especially what the preacher talks about for the last 20 years.

It is a right and wrong thing.

Obamas are lying.

Bani--you make no sense--go look at Clinton..

Black Theology is ANTI-AMERICAN.

My preacher growing up made Wright look like Billy Graham in comparison.

Shoot, there are a host of right wing white preachers like Hagee who've said the most inflammatory and ridiculous things I've ever heard.

Sill no answer.

That's an interesting way to phrase it, whitey.

:)

hey, I graduated from an accedited Billy Graham's HS in his Hq town...I even ran for President of Student Council ~ but then they found out I wasn't a Christian

at least Obama, McCain, Cheney & GW pretend they are Christians & Murphy loves the murderers on Sunday for going to church, but is hugely disappointed that Obama hasn't been certified as Muslim yet.

I still wish Obama was part Muslim/Sufi/Zen/Jew for the only Christian President that has recently been worthy of their faith has been Jimmy.

That's an interesting way to phrase it,

Since it's so important to you, what churches do Bush, Cheney, McCain attend REGULARLY?

You mean insofar as inheriting a massive war debt and record prices - none of which he caused, but which the GOP was salivating to blame him for?

Obama's gonna inherit a war, and the largest debt in the history of mankind thanks to the GOP and Bushy.

And inflation can't be far behind as a result either.

The right wing idiots will be salivating to blame Obama for all that too even though they caused it all.

Some of the comments that the article elicited on that website are priceless.

There are those who are irate because Obama was treated with such indignity, and then there are those not as solicitous of his situation and fitness as a candidate.

There does not seem to be as much love or as universal adoration of Obama as the media and the leftists seem to find.

Here are a few gems.

****************************** ******************************

what is a cocaine spoon? Oh, and, I don't care about the satirical cover of the nyer

It's about time someone told the truth about these two...they're just poster children for the left over 60s radical, America hating, Black Power movement.

Where's Rev. Wright, Bill Ayers, Resko, Jesse, Big Al, Maria and Arnie??

NObama doesn't need a gun to promote his socialist agenda. The weapon is the IRS. Oh, I forgot, Senator Reid (DEMOCRAT) says taxes are "voluntary".

This has nothing to do with the GOP. It has to do with the New Yorker. A picture is worth a thousand words. The man is the biggest tax and spend liberal to ever come down the pike, and with the economy in the toilet, all we need now is for a President in office who doesn't understand that the taxpayer's money needs to stay in their pockets, and not the government's.

That is exactly how many folks picture those two - (for real) Love it..! - Sam -

Too funny! Hey, the truth hurts. Can anyone tell me what religion Obama was before his wife brought him to the infamous house of the Rev. Jeremiah Wright? Yep, you guessed it, he was a Muslim.....and still would be if it was "politically correct"....

As they say, perceptions are 90% of reality...

There is definitely a kernel of truth in this satire. Barack (middle name censored) Obama and his vile partner hate super-power America and are itching to transform it into a socialist, sharia-bound Euro-state.

Well Osama's, oops I mean Obama's half brother has recently come out and stated that Obama was raised a moslem as a youngster. So if the turban fits...... And his wife, she's an ultraleftwing America hater, so the Angela Davis fro and the AK fit her perfectly. I'd say the cover is spot on. Think that I'll pin it up in my office it should prove to be quite a conversation piece.

Obama?s admitted heavy marijuana and cocaine use in high school and college may well have played a decisive role in the development of Obama?s inflated sense of his own importance; and, his pretentious demeanor. Heavy drug use can lead to hallucinations concerning ones status of grandiosity. Another clue is Obama?s frequent confused and unintelligible babblings whenever he is subjected to a public forum where he is devoid of a prepared text by his handlers to read from; which is the reason that Obama's controllers will resist any attempt to have their candidate exposed to town-hall style forums. Considering the fact that, if elected, Obama would be in proximity to the Nuclear Football 24/7, the American electorate has the right to know if Obama has any residual defect from his admittedly heavy former drug use. Obama's inability to overcome his nicotine dependency suggests that he remains vunerable to such addictions. Obama has the responsibility to submit to an independent medical examination to ascertain the facts concerning his substance abuse. Until such concerns are put to rest, this man, who has exhibited a profound lack of common-sense, should never be allowed anywhere near the Oval Office.

There does not seem to be as much love or as universal adoration of Obama as the media and the leftists seem to find.

Yea, I'm sure those comments are from "leftists". And it's only wankers like you who seem to think folks think Obama is the second coming. Most of us realize he's a politician running for office.

Here's what the artist of the NYer cover said about the piece:

I think the idea that the Obamas are branded as unpatriotic [let alone as terrorists] in certain sectors is preposterous. It seemed to me that depicting the concept would show it as the fear-mongering ridiculousness that it is.

www.huffingtonpost.com

Epic fail for johnson.

www.huffingtonpost.com

David Remnick, Nyer editor:

The fact is, it's not a satire about Obama - it's a satire about the distortions and misconceptions and prejudices about Obama.

Seems my first impression was fairly close:

Oddly enough...the new yorker was making fun of fox news here...since they called that the "terrorist fist bump" between the two just before his acceptance speech for the nomination. But the new yorker staff is SOOOO far inside their bubble, that they didn't understand that normal people wouldn't get the joke and be offended by it.

And since it has NOTHING to do with the article, that pic IS over the top and stupid.

JOHNSON is too busy typing manifestos than knowing or acknowledging the truth, choosing instead to ramble off idiotic statements he got straight from Rush.

Sychophant (look it up Johnson)

You bash Obama over and over, yet YOUR hero can barely read let alone talk.

You grossly misoverestimate Bush's abilities to the point of blindness.

Are you married to Murphy?

Political figures are a favorite subject of cartoonists, Obama. Get used to it.

Interesting analysis on this by Michelle Malkin. Scroll down to see some of the cartoons of Condi Rice and President Bush.

Barry,

So, you found this satirical New Yorker cover art tasteless and offensive.--

Welcome to public life.

Guess what? In Washington, political cartoonists and caricaturists spare no one.

Heres a reminder of the crap Condi Rice has had to deal with over the years:

And this is satire? Excuse me for not getting the joke.

99.9% of the rightwingtards won't, so don't feel so bad.

"Yes--Obama would be the second term of Jimmy Carter"

Jimmy Carter was a bad president. But he was much better than Bush. Carter was only a failure. Bush is a traitor.

I don't see why this magazine cover is getting any attention. I don't get it. What's wrong with the picture?

You can tell a lot about a person with the church they attend.

Posted by MURPHY at 2008-07-13 10:51 PM

How you coming with the earlier question?

And another one: Karl Rove?

I know you're a fan of his work.

As soon as I saw the cover it was obvious what the New Yorker was doing... simply common sense that no serious press organization would put that cover out as anything but satire. Everyone should calm down... I was kind of hoping Obama's campaign statement wouldn't be so filled with fake outrage.

Was hoping for something more along the lines of: "We understand what the New Yorker was saying with their cover and that no offense was intended against Barack or Michelle, and as always Senator Obama supports the Freedom of the Press."

Oh well... just another fake politician...

Pretty stupid cartoon, but it conveys the fears of a lot of dumb voters. Image sells and the conservatives want to play up the images that the New Yorker magazine is selling.

Great pic--lol--

So MSLSD was over this cover this morning.

This was bad taste.

Satire should be funny --not derogatory.

This does not help the Obamas.

This is such an incredible non-issue. Just like the Jesse Jackson "nuts-off" comment, it won't hurt or help Obama because thinking people will see it for what it is and anyway most people already have their minds made up about BO and McCain.

Satire or not...many people won't buy the mag or read the explanation. They will just see the cover.

I got an email this a.m...just the cover...no article.

Fine - did it change your view or your plans for voting in November?

Gosh, whose ox was gored?

As old Harry Truman said, "If you can't stand the heat, get out of the kitchen."

Obama has been treated with kid gloves. He has shown many inadequacies and negatives. But rather than acknowledging, who and what Obama is, a product of the ghetto community in Chicago, who has thrived politically by dwelling on the doctrine of victimization and entitlement, Obama's background and "essence" has been ignored.

We often project our hopes upon others, and endow them with capabilities and other attributes that we would like them to have. This unrealistic appraisal of Obama has been ongoing. It's good that Ms Hillary has bloodied him by discussing some of the realities. The Clintons, acting in their own interests, have performed a service for this country.

The Obama-worshippers rather than supporting his positions, have been reduced to generalizations, and have focused on the deficiencies of Candidate McCain, which many of us acknowledge. It's just that as an addled druggie with flashbacks, steeped in hate-mongering, hate whitey, hate Jews, hate America, associate of bomb throwing radicals, married to an alienated woman, exposed children to ongoing hateful sermons and Sunday School, lacking in experience and judgment, and what have you Candidate Obama is a certain disaster waiting to happen.

By the way, the cartoon is a work of genius. I'd bet it would bring a million dollars if the original were auctioned. The cartoonist has made his career.

The work embodies many of the problems that beset Obama and anticipates how he will be depicted as the campaign progresses. If reality seeps through the screen, then the Obama candidacy is doomed. If the illusion is maintained, then we'll all suffer.

glad my ex is half Jewish...can we be Jewish the same way Tiger is black? Might be some payola there...

Glad that your ex was only half-Jewish, Bani. I can't imagine the extent of your focus and rage being any greater, and you might just burst an artery.

Your ex-spouse sure must have alienated you, or did you marry the spouse to have the ability to personally administer punishment to the Jew half.

Did you learn a lot of this stuff regarding the Jew plots from your spouse? Did you get in on the inner workings of the cabal, even though your spouse as "half-Jew" probably would have been excluded from the inner circle, and would have been operating on the periphery of the plotting and scheming.

Are there any modern day protocols similar to the "Protocols of the Elders of Zion" to which you can refer us in which the Jews set forth their plans for world domination?

I learned that there is a tribe of black jews of sorts, the Lemba tribe, in South Africa, and a settlement in India, and one in China. Are these communities linked under an umbrella? Could you explain the organization to us?

I'm fertile ground for recruiting Bani if you just lay it out for me. My late mother-in-law remarked when she learned of a white girl who had run off with a black, "Well, at least he's not Jewish." So, give us the real scoop that you learned from your ex half-Jewish spouse, and provide direction to some of the original papers delineating the plan for world domination. Also, I'd be interested in their purpose of attaining world domination, if you would expound on that.

Shucks Danforth, I reply with deserved humility that I am but a lonely poster on a blog, and do not represent the mainstream media, nor are my posts indicative of the fawning coverage that Obama has heretofore received. My seemingly aberrant critical commentary is isolated, and certainly not typical of information and perspectives widely disseminated.

No darlin' cause I know the New Yorker, and am aware of the "satire". Some don't and won't.
You know it doesn't have to change peoples minds either...it only has to put a burr under some saddles and help voter turnout against BHO.

I haven't found anyone to vote for in Nov. I want to vote against Obama...but I don't know if I can stomach any of the offerings.

They burn the American Flag in the fireplace.
This is a really dumb move.

Maybe Obama shouldn't have voted against the flag amendment.

"Grow a pair, Obama" ... "So, you found this satirical New Yorker cover art tasteless and offensive.-- Welcome to public life. Guess what? In Washington, political cartoonists and caricaturists spare no one."

So Obama plays his race/cultural card against a friendly publication while many of his allies on the left dutifully follow his lead and condemn the piece because most of them fear that those of us who live out in flyover country "won't get" the satire.

Kerrin - good point.

Has anyone seen this cover on Rolling Stone Magazine last month?

www.thehotjoints.com

I didn't think so.

Funny. The Obama camp didn't have a problem with our media being "respectful" to the candidates when that hit the press, did they?

Way to go american. Now McCain will denounce that as well. I wonder if the Boy Wonder has something to say.
