I was born in 1960. I was never brought up with overtly gay people. So when I think back to my high school days, the gay/bi teachers stuck out like a sore thumb.

The top music guy was married, but quit his job when is wife divorced him upon discovering him boning his male lover. It was BIG news in rural Rhode Island in the late 1970's.

I think gay people are typically more naturally drawn to creative and artistic professions than straights are. Whether you're talking fashion designers, performers, artists or any number of professions... gays are quite heavily represented in creative fields.

Music is certainly one of them. Do you disagree, or are you so politically correct that you can't or won't acknowledge reality? This is not to say gays don't pursue other professions or that straights don't pursue creative roles.

NG3--this is a non-religious charter school.

There is little control at this set up--the same as any public school.

Not to say there are not occurrences at religious schools.

So the same slut is allegedly banging two different teachers.

There is no excuse for the teachers--they are the one in the position of power and must be held accountable. The student is/has a problem here--can't imagine what her parents are going thru.

I don't think it is particularly inconsistent. The message that our society sends about murder (aside from some music and video games) is pretty straight forward. Murder is wrong. Most teens know and understand this well.

The message that our society sends out about sex in terms of when it is appropriate and inappropriate is much more ambiguous.

Murder is never sometimes right or permissible in our society. In addition, it is not an action that the average person or teen thinks will be in their particular future or one they ever wish to engage in.

Sexual activity, as you can well imagine, is a far different thing. If media is to be believed, it is the pinnacle of all desired experiences and obtaining it should consume all our waking hours.

These teens are still culpable to a certain degree, but far less than they would be if they had purposefully taken a life.

While there is no denying that the sex drive of healthy adults is very strong, our society has elevated the consummation of such desires to be the be all and end all of human existence.

The desire for food is even a stronger desire and while we enjoy our food immensely, most would say that getting as much food as you want as often as you want should not be the focus of our daily lives.

Oddly while we think too much food is a bad thing both emotionally and physically; our society does not really think there is such a thing as too much sex.
