Got to admit I cheated a bit by using BabelFish. (grin)

This weeks winner for the Describe the following in one sentence or less-- is going to a relative newcomer. I dont remember seeing him post an entry before. But his effort this week is sufficient to claim the brass ring.

BiggieDan is a first time patient and who know just what will be inside his head at the unveiling?

Good luck and we hope all of the pieces find a place to return to.

Dave, that is quite disturbing. Thanks!

Is it just me or does the color of the type on DR look a little too light?
I don't need bold but a little darker will do. Or is it the way I have my own computer set? How do I fix it if it is my computer? It only seems to be this way on here.

btw - I'm only talking about the color of the type on the posts, not the story headlines.

Thank you. I stumbled onto the DR a while back by accident, and now I'm an addict. Many of the members remind me of my relatives, so I feel right at home.

Regards!!

Well, in this case BabelFish did a great job. It's not always the case with translation software. I don't think that interpreters will be going out of business anythime soon.

BTW, cafe' came out caf. Avoid diacritics in this page, that is, accented letters

I have IE 6 but use McAfee, not Firefox. Any more suggestion I could try? Thanks!

The ones you keep in your attic?

"Thank you. I stumbled onto the DR a while back by accident, and now I'm an addict. Many of the members remind me of my relatives, so I feel right at home."

I am sorry to tell you, but you have a dysfunctional family my friend, lol!

Sorry, couldn't help myself.

The DR is kinda like Hotel California, you can check out anytime you want, but you can never leave, unless of course you are bad and get dumped.

Speaking of leaving:

U.S. and Iraqi negotiators have abandoned efforts to conclude a comprehensive agreement governing the long-term status of U.S troops in Iraq before the end of the Bush presidency, according to senior U.S. officials, effectively leaving talks over an extended U.S. military presence there to the next administration.

In place of the formal status-of-forces agreement negotiators had hoped to complete by July 31, the two governments are now working on a "bridge" document, more limited in both time and scope, that would allow basic U.S. military operations to continue beyond the expiration of a U.N. mandate at the end of the year.

Hello everyone!!!!

Behold how good and pleasant it is, for brethern to dwell together in unity.....

Most people aren't fluent in the language of the Inbred.

I think it has something to do with the number of teeth in one's jaw.

Buying bread from a man in brussels
He was six foot four and full of muscles
I said, do you speak-a my language?
He just smiled and gave me a vegemite sandwich

I messed around with my computer -- resolution, fonts, etc. -- and was able to fix the way I wanted. Thanks for helping out earlier.

One more, and we can drop the gavel!

Welcome to the DR, BD!

Did someone say Dysfunctional?

Oh! How right they are......the DR is a nice place to be-butt-you have to watch out for-and not feed-the trolls. (It doesn't help that rcade has never put screen doors on the place to keep flies out either....)

All the anti-discrimination blowhards here on the DR (and elsewhere) have no problem picking on the most discriminated against group in the U.S. nowadays which if you don't already know what group that is it's the native-born, middleclass, work for a living, nonpolitically correct, heterosexual, English speaking, white males in this country.

Signed, a proud member of that minority.

...which if you don't already know what group that is it's the native-born, middleclass, work for a living, nonpolitically correct, heterosexual, English speaking, white males in this country.

You've got that right, Gimme_A_Scotch.
This place turns into a kumbaya, bash whitey, and minority whiiiine festival at the drop of a hat.

Gimme - LOL that is the one thing my boss tells people who come into the office asking about a discrimination suit, discrimination laws are so specific these days that it is almost impossible to prove it, and yes you are right, the most discriminated against people in this country are white males, they have absolutely zero chance of getting a government contract (either local, state or federal), because all of the rules are skewed towards females, minorities etc., (for instance we have a client whose wife is like 1/16th cherokee, she is cleaning up on government contracts because of that).

I cannot believe what I found on Youtube. The Light Division, Royal Tournament, 1985 "High on a Hill". This takes me back like you would not believe, I was there, manning the static display for the Royal Navy, met and got a serious crush on one of these guys (not the guy in front, one of the three guys behind him), hmmmmm I guess you will have to ask AU about that particular obsession, you know the guy was a bugle player, (my current husband is a trumpet player), *blush* I cannot believe that I can go on Youtube and pull up an incredibly happy time of my life, I mean you would not believe how happy I was at that time, it was phenominal, and there it is, on Youtube. Wonder if there is a video of the last night of the tournament, when me and a bunch of other girls dressed up in just those jackets and stockings (complete with high heels) and marched THAT FAST, behind the band. *sigh* good times.

I will allude to, but not disclose specifically, my trumpet playing, sex thrilling tricks.

Not for amateurs.

LOL

Have folks seen this?

Screw Kumbuya, out of VO, out of Cope and finally, out of money.

Those wishing to send care package see profile. Hurry, I'zz fadun fass.....

LilbBrit

I watched your video last night. Great precision marching.
Hmmm, now what was it you were saying again that these trumpet playing bugle boys all seem to do so well? (grin)

CC

That's a secret (like the Masons) that only a trumpet player can show you. It's punishable by lip removal for anyone to divulge it in any other way

LOL

Sorry -- this is the best I can do for you stuck out here in cyberspace.

Seagrams VO

It's Margarita night! Whoo hoo!!

Chris AU would tell you but then he would have to kill you :) However, the best pick up line in the world has to be "I play the trumpet/bugle/trombone," if anyone says that to you tackle him, tie him up, take him home, and never let him go again :)

Amateurs. Bah.

LILBRIT

LMAO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

PS LILBRIT

Trombone players don't hold a candle to trumpet players.

That's like comparing a Volkswagon Beetle to a Ferrari
Trumpet players are revved a LOT higher if you catch my drift.

LOL

Whoooo hoooooooo, they actually have Field Gun on Youtube! (I am continually amazed at what you can find on Youtube) Field Gun is the hardest sport in the world, I mean really. Watch this.

www.youtube.com.

What you don't see (and don't get told) that if something or someone falls into the "chasm" then it is lost forever, cannot be retrieved. So for instance, on the "run home" as you see in the tape, if for instance you lose a bolt that attaches a wheel to a gun carriage you stick your finger in there and let the carriage rip your finger off but hey at least you won the run right? These guys are so focused you would not believe. I can honestly say I was a proud "Fleet Air Arm" gunny bunny, in fact I still have the t-shirt!

Oh by the way, the chant you were hearing in the background is "mini, mini loo, AIR, mini, mini loo, AIR, mini mini loo AIR, AIR, AIR" I have no idea what it means either!

AU - I included them so as not to leave out the low brass section, but I get your drift!

Trumpet players are revved a LOT higher if you catch my drift.

I thought I'd just add that BushLover is a trumpet player and that should be enough said to put this to rest.

Besides anyone can hum a tune.

Bushlover blows.

Into his trumpet.

Rusty trombone.

PS) these guys are so dedicated it is not even funny, you have to know them, you have to have spent time around them to realize that their dedication is absolute. Another thing they don;t tell you on the tape the "penalties" they speak about are, they are not allowed to move their feet once they have fired their guns, they can move their upper bodies (move the ropes and stuff) but if their feet move an inch, it is a second penalty. I have always been and will continue to be in awe of these guys. They are just the consumate athletes.

Ozarkaggie - speak to BL2's wife, then get back to me. :)

BL2 hasn't found a woman ugly enough to marry - recently. But I guess we could check with his two x-wives...

PS) in case you are all wondering about my obsession with the Royal Tournament it is cause it is where I met my husband. The 100th Royal Tournament (1990), I was in the WRNS, husband was in the US Marines, 100th Royal Tournament was a celebration of Marines all around the world, and the US Marines were a part of it, we met on the 14th July 1990 he proposed July 28, 1990, we married a year later on the 14th July 1991 (after spending exactly 6 weeks together since meeting thanks to the Gulf War), and tomorrow is our anniversary, 17 years and counting, (and everyone said it wouldn't last :))

Opening of the 1990 Royal Tournament. Ahhhhh happy times.

www.youtube.com.

LILBRIT

Congrads in advance on your anniversary. Cool.

I'm coming up on 22 years. Met my wife in Sept and we were married that November.

She's my best friend. We laugh a LOT around this joint (well, unless the subject of Bush or Rush come up). LOL

CC-Considering the number of narcotics I use to get through the day and add to that only 1oz per day, and it's better that way anyway. Even Cope hurts the neurological end of the crap spectrum. (I limit myself to 1 can every 2 weeks).

I'm going back to your gift and having another--Cheers

Man, 24 year old actress/singer Tiffany Michelle is kicking ASS and taking names in this year's World Series of Poker Main Event.

She's currently 6th with only 38 players left out of a starting field of 6844. She's playing great poker. Every well known pro, except Mike 'The Mouth' Matusow' is out of the tourney.

It's fun as some multimillion dollar pots go by.

Last year's winner ($9 million and change) was an immigrant psychologist named Jerry Yang. He was so poor in his native Cambodia that all they had to play with was an inflated pig's bladder. He came with his family after surviving the Pol Pot regime and years in refugee camps to earn a Master's Degree.

The greatest thing I read while the final table was playing was that he used breaks to go into the bathroom and pray. He promised God he'd use his winnings to help people. He's done just that - building schools, a hospital, and setting up scholarship programs all over the place in partnership with other poker players pro and amateur alike. Great guy who deserved to win. He started as the short stack at the final table and knocked out every other player. Amazing to watch last year.

This year, they're not going to play the final table (everyone who makes it there is an instant millionaire) until November. They're going to do a reality type show about the players to build interest. Should be pretty cool.

It's also refreshing to see good play. I play online, but I've pretty much quit (after winning several large tournaments) because the players in the lower stakes tournaments I play ($10-20 buyins) play any two cards and call anything. Tired of "bad beats' by idiots who must be drunk or something, but manage to beat my AA pocket pair with crap cards that catch lucky boards. LOL

WSOP.com has a running "Updates' section if anyone is interested in reading the blog describing key hands.

AU - I would say that is right, my DH and I are best friends, we value each other's company more than anything else, he is gone this week, on an continuing education education thing :) when he left yesterday I was very sad, I know that I am going to get flowers tomorrow thanks to the very unsubtle hints he left, ie "are you going to be in the office all day tomorrow?" July 14, 1990, best day of my life, I first saw that smile, and I was hooked. The last finale of the Tournament, when we broke it all down, and the bulldozers came in a tore up the arena, Nick walked me back to my barracks, he said goodbye, we kissed, I walked up the steps to go to my quarters and I suddenly couldn't let go, I ran down the stairs and screamed "Nick" lots of things went on from then, not least the Gulf War, but we made it through, and 17 years later we are still the happiest couple that I have ever known. I think when you know, you know, and on July 14, 1990 I knew.

...Nick walked me back to my barracks, he said goodbye, we kissed, I walked up the steps to go to my quarters and I suddenly couldn't let go, I ran down the stairs and screamed "Nick" lots of things went on from then,

Reminds of a scene from "Gone With The Wind" *sigh*

Where has Larry been lately? On vacation? I haven't seen him around here in awhile.

"For the second straight day, the Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll shows that the race for the White House is tied."

I found the above from the Drudge Report. As I said months ago, this Presidential campaign is for the Democrats to lose. And, it appears they are not going to disappoint. Personally, I believe it all started going downhill after they selected an inexperienced rookie senator as their nominee.

Where has Larry been lately?

EATING!
