Drudge Retort: Red Meat for Yellow Dogs

It's tempting to think of Libertarianism as nothing more than old-school Republicanism, but it's always been partially left-wing, drawing from a long history of American anarchism. The modern challenge is to unite those two wings--or, as magician (and stalwart Libertarian) Penn Jillette said, "Convince the dope guys that the gun guys are O.K., and vice versa." And many Libertarians believe the time is now. "Everyone is Libertarian about something," said Bob Barr, the party's presidential nominee.

Bob Barr - The perfect idiot to represent one of the kookiest of political ideas.

Right, because the alternatives are SOOOO much better... and you think you look smart when you say it.

Vote Libertarian

Because:

Fire Departments
Police Departments
Highway Departments
Sewer Systems
Army
Navy
Air Force
Marines
Coast Guard
State Parks
National Parks
etc.
etc.

...are all highly overrated

I'm curious to see whether the libertarians on this site really believe that, or if Rasta is just a fucking idiot.

me too!!!
HAHA!!

Rcade is about 80 year old strippers...

As the cost of everything goes up. The value of everything you own goes down. You lose your job. And war rages in the ME. Just remember. Libertarians warned you. But you wouldn't listen.

Albert Einstein when asked what he considered to be the most powerful force in the universe answered: Compound interest! What you have become is the price you paid to get what you used to want.

Don't Vote Libertarian:

Because

The Constitution
Bill of Rights
Freedom
Individual Rights.
etc
etc

are highly overrated.

Republicans and Democrats, leaving the Constitution and Bill of Rights by the wayside to wither in the vines.

Libertarianism is the ignoramus offshoot of liberalism. True the whole power structure is and have always been a big f#cking scam. The problem is that libertarianism will never attract many real believers because the nature of all scams is to incorporate or marginalize opposition that can do it harm. A natural way around this would be to represent the masses against that very power structure: i.e. LIBERALISM...

(note: I didn't say vaginacrat)

The new GOP platform

This is funny.

Bob Barr is a government in your bedroom libertarian, an anti-abortion abortionist,eg full of shit.

FECESFACT!

"Author's Note: Democrats will also be revamping their platform for 2008, but a blog entry for them is not necessary. It is clear that the Democratic Party no longer believes in anything at all, except that which will do best for them in the polls. We could post several predictions for what they would promise to do for Iraq or civil liberties, but we'd have to take them down after they go unfulfilled."

Yeah, sure.
Name one issue besides drug legalization that libertarians share with liberals. Would you like a list of issues that they share with conservatives?

My favorite part was:

"If gas prices get too high, we'll just invade Canada. "

The problem is that libertarianism will never attract many real believers because the nature of all scams is to incorporate or marginalize opposition that can do it harm.

Libertarianism is a philosophy of individualism and self reliance. It doesn't sell well today. The many who have grown dependent on government are in for the shock of their lives when government defaults.

Bob Barr is a government in your bedroom libertarian, an anti-abortion abortionist,eg full of shit.

I think he is more Conservative then Libertarian. The Libertarian Party is a shell of its former self. The earlier crowd didn't expect to win. They saw elections as a good time to get the word out.

Or in Ron Paul's case a good time to get the money in.

His pocket.

Conservatism is the bastard offshoot of corporatism(fascism). Doing drugs while supposedy fighting a drug war(hypocritical and self rightous) How dare the n#ggers/mexicans get uppidy(class pretentious). It appeases its xenophobic underpinnings with wars which are quite profitable (etc). And ultimately is absorbed by the regular nazi/republican party when its members grow up enough to realise that they are the same type of whores(yawn)...

note: a portion of the even more self deluded of these used to be libertarians...

Bob Barr is so not Libertarian. I don't think he even has a sense of humor.

Politicians are graded on how much money they bring home. Given Paul's rhetoric and voting record, I long wondered how he managed to stay in office. He kept his pork projects hidden by earmarking them. It's become a common practice in Congress.

You can't get beyond your local school board without being a bought and paid for whore. Period.

BTW the reason Paul's rhetoric is popular to the folks back home is because they think it applies to OTHER districts.

Remember this when your house is taken and you have to move to a tent: Libertarians have been warning you for decades.

"Bob Barr - The perfect idiot to represent one of the kookiest of political ideas."

Voting for the the same two corrupt organizations year after year as they get more and more brazen about screwing us is just moronic.

Kooky > Moronic.

Ive long believed that we should have a three party system. IMO, like, the three branches of govt theory, they would balance themselves out. Unfortunately, weve not come even close to a real third party. IMO, we never will, especially when the best we can come up with is libertarianism. Which could work if we had 3 million people living in this country. But would be a disaster in the present reality. Perhaps we should just survive through the upcoming cataclism described by the prophet Baby Ray, and hope something better arises. Damn, I once was an optimist.

The third party of politics will never happen because the Corporations will not allow it.

Imagine having to give $$$$ to 3 candidates!

My god, the horror.

The third party of politics will never happen because the Corporations will not allow it.

Ironically, the people most opposed to election finance reform are the people most hurt by thier opposition.

Barak Obama is as close as we will ever get to a middle class Presidential candidate, family wealth-wise-only millionaires will be able to run for President and Senate, and before long, Congress. And once they get into Congress, their main task is to garner enough money to run in the next election.

"Name one issue besides drug legalization that libertarians share with liberals."

-Ending the Iraq war.

-Ending corporate welfare.

That's two. Of course, prominent liberals only pay lip service to those two ideas, and I'd be very surprised to see any of them actually take steps toward ending either.

To paraphrase Bob Barr "Everybody is Democrat about something", but in my case you'd have to go back at least to Truman Era to find a Democrat value I could live with. Substituting Republican it'd be at least the Jerry Ford Era.

Back to Barr - he ain't no Harry Browne Libertarian but for a comparative political opportunist Newt Gingrich comes to mind and that ain't good.

Be wise vote Gimme anuthah Scotch in 2008 cause there ain't 2 cents worth of difference between 0bama, McCain, Baldwin and Barr in the long run.

Libertarians are the social misfits that joined the Chess Club in high school and think they're SOOO much smarter than you are...but they have no social skills and couldn't sell themselves out of a paper bag. Politics is all about selling, and as long as you think you're so fucking superior to us mere mortals you'll be stuck at 1.5% of the electorate.

Soooo, Scotch, that whole "equal rights" shit still pissing you off??

What year was the civil rights movement again?

Wow.. Talk about putting people in boxes.. How many Libertarians do you know personally? I was never in chess club, and I have enough social skills to maintain a couple dozen close friendships, some of whom are also Libertarian.

Its cool if you don't like the message, but your post was just plain ignorant. And if you think that dems and reps don't act like they are smarter than everybody else too, then you haven't read any of the posts here...
