Drudge Retort: Red Meat for Yellow Dogs

A new nationwide poll shows Barack Obama securing a majority of electoral college votes over Republican opponent John McCain in a new state-by-state poll. The Zogby Interactive online survey also shows Libertarian Candidate Bob Barr shaping up as a substantial factor in this year's election, pulling 6 percent of the vote. (He was substantially outperforming then-Green Party candidate Ralph Nader at a similar point in the 2000 campaign)

I think Barr really speaks to a certain segment of true conservatives. This has got to be a nightmare scenario for the GOP.

With Barr on the ballot, real liberals can enjoy their freedom of conscience and vote as they please rather than being forced at metaphorical gunpoint to vote....

Bob Barr is just another flip-flopper!

www.drudge.com

For the first time ever, I won't be voting for the Republican candidate for the presidency. That said, I won't be throwing the lever for Barr either.

Might just stay home. Why fight traffic, if Jeopardy's on?

"Barr Could Hurt McCain"

From what I'v heard of McCain's arrogant new budget ideas, McCain will hurt McCain. Good.

i'm voting 3rd party though i don't know where it will fall yet. as they won't win... does it matter whether it is for barr or nader?
my rationale is my vote is meaningless as i live in his home state... and that means the electoral college is, in every sense, nullifying my vote unless i vote for mccain.
there has been talk here that mccain could lose az. apparently the old guard who loved the 'maverick' isn't so inspired with him anymore. i've heard many a republican dump on him for a variety of reasons as of recent.
not much of a word from them, however, that they would vote 3rd party as well.

all the best.

"does it matter whether it is for barr or nader?"

Only if the notion of voting for Nader AGAIN is boring.

I'm voting for elvis.

Elvis? Costello's not a citizen. But I'd vote for him if he was.

I'm writing in Teddy Roosevelt

This perfect storm of events going against John McCain like the 100 foot wave in the movie and there's Bob Barr with his feet in the water kicking in the same direction.

Might just stay home. Why fight traffic, if Jeopardy's on?

I feel your pain RiR--

But for the country to go to Obama is worse than "fill in the blank".

McCain was not my first choice--and I find I agree with him about 65% of the time.

He is not very conservative except for SCOTUS and abortion and certainly not very Republican.

If he picks Romney or ?? would that bring you out of the house to vote?

Nader is up to 6%--and with Obama running to the center--this number will go up.

"Nader is up to 6%-"

Oh, you mean Barr....

ANKLES UP!!

Nader at 6%

Null--You really like Barr?

Did you like Ron Paul in the primary? Or someone else?

If you want to vote your principles, Murphy, you should vote for Bob Barr, rather than that socialist McCain.

Null--You really like Barr?

Posted by MURPHY

I'll wager Roseanne more than Bob....

Socialist McCain? You've got to be kidding! John McCain was implicated by the US Congress in aiding and abetting the Savings & Loan crooks in the 1980's.McCain is a corporate lackey from head to toe.
Bob Barr doesn't have any of the smelly baggage that McCain or Obama has but Mr.Barr unfortunately could very easily end up like Paul Wellstone, because he is a serious threat to both McCain and Obama!

"Real" conservatives who vote for McCain over Bob Barr are pussies without principles.

have you read anything about him? He's a typical rightwing hypocrite-co-authored the "Defense of marriage Act" (even his friends couldn't figure out which of his marraiges he was defending) and used anti-abortionists lobby money to pay for his wife's abortion so he could divorce her and marry his secretary.

Big Government and Big Spending The Root of all Problems.

www.bobbarr2008.com

This is your guy, conservatives.

This is not a nightmare for the GOP, I'm just thinking of the gas maoney I will save NOT driving to the polls. Neither of these guys are worth a shit, and the American people will have the golden opportunity to learn their lesson of why a marxist in the White House will weaken America beyond recovery.
The Bible predicted the fall of America at this time, nothing can change the word of God.Once God was kicked out of America, he has no reason to bless us. Americans deserve everything coming their way.You voted for it,you got it.

"the American people will have the golden opportunity to learn their lesson of why a marxist in the White House will weaken America beyond recovery."

Or...they'll realize that the nuts who scream "Marxist" at every shadow are, indeed, lunatics - just as they suspected all along, and with the weight of the Bush years too!

"God was kicked out of America"

What kind of pathetic, impotent god do you worship, rightnut?

"Once God was kicked out of America, he has no reason to bless us."

I thought it happened right when you could only get this powder that they claimed was "creamer" for your coffee, like everywhere, all at once. That's when we kicked God out of America. They kicked Him out with the cream and real sugar, and we just went along...

The root of all evils (including big government and out-of-control-spending) is the Federal Reserve. Bob Barr is addressing the result, not the cause of the problem and that in itself is the problem. A while back Ron Paul mentioned in a CNN interview that Barr "speaks the langauge and says the right things" but I wouldn't even give him credit for that. Ron Paul was just trying to be nice without calling the guy a flip-flopping opportunist.

Once God was kicked out of America, he has no reason to bless us. Americans deserve everything coming their way.You voted for it,you got it.

Well, at least no one can accusse this guy of false advertisment. His posts are true to his handle 110%.

Well Null that might be correct except voting for Barr takes away votes for McCain who is 1000 times better than Obama.

Soooooo--why are your voting for Barr or at least promoting Barr--You are Not a conservative??

"Soooooo--why are your voting for Barr or at least promoting Barr"

Bob Barr is not a RINO like McCain. All conservatives shoud vote for Barr. Assuming they have any principles.

Soooooo--why are your voting for Barr or at least promoting Barr--You are Not a conservative??

It's Nully's version of Operation Chaos, lol!

"Bob Barr is not a RINO like McCain."

That's right, he is a LINO.

Yes--McCain is not a Republican--but I don't vote straight party line.

But McCain's epiphany on immigration is great for the heart.

And he is right on about SCOTUS appointments.

He is right on spending and tax cuts.

He is right on energy policy.

He is certainly right on Iraq and the surge. He recognizes evil and that islamic terrorism are the threat to the country.

He has the character and judgment and experinece to be POTUS. He loves America.

Obama has nothing except higher taxes, wrong on Iraq--Watch him change his position after he talks with Petreous. Wrong on bigger gov't, UHC, pre-K school--which is only babysitting and taking over the lives of kids from the parents--but it's free --sooo what the hell. The gov't does such a great job with 1-12 grades--why not start earlier??

Obama sucks big time--but he has a great speech--Watch his speech in Denver--it will be the same as MLK.

Which you know Null--I admire greatly (MLK)--but don't try to pass him off as something original or some kind of change. Obama is the worse person to run for POTUS.

MURPHY

I'm glad you're getting a lot of experience saying 'Obama'. You'll need it the next 8 years LOL

The problem with Obama is that he says he has to "earn the repect of the troops".

He has no concept of what the POTUS is.

He is without character, experience and mainly without judgment.

What can be expected of someone in the Senate for one year and the Daley machine for 7 years??

He won't win--it will be a sad day and the downfall of our economy if he is elected.

I believe folks will see the light--not Obama light either--

And repeat my prior post MURPHY LOL

Hey Murphy,

No matter who wins maybe you should just follow your savior GW to Paraguay, where you'll be able to continue worshiping at his ass. None of us would mind if you went along....really.

And ditto my post AU--ha ha ha !

And RE-RE-ditto mine MURPHY LOL

(plus 1 ha ha ha)

"But McCain's epiphany on immigration is great for the heart"

McCain's position on illegals is the ONLY reason I won't vote for him. The other stuff I disagree with him about I'd be willing to bite my tongue and/or just bitch but the illegals need to be booted out of OUR country wholesale!

Bob Barr could hurt John McCain?

Well, ...of course he could.

McCain's practically a cripple and he's old as dirt.

Anybody could hurt McCain.

A 5 year old with a wifflebat could take him out.

Sorry? Wot's that? "Politically"?

Bob Barr could hurt McCain politically?

Well, yeah ...guess there's that to consider too.

Kinda silly really ...Obama's gonna win.

08ama!

Be Well.

If he picks Romney or ?? would that bring you out of the house to vote?

Posted by MURPHY
* * * *

Nope. You mentioned that he was right on energy--he isn't. He's a global-warming-embracing cap-and-trade carbon credits big-government moron. His system would wreck the energy markets--as well as American manufacturing--over a problem that doesn't even exist.

His views on spending are refreshing. They're also new. If he voted against a single monstrous Bush spending program, I don't know about it. He also pushed through the constitutional abortion known as McCain-Feingold. And his proudest accomplishments--such as they are--are working with liberal Democrats pushing through legislation that is abominable.

Republicans deserve to lose, and we will. Hopefully when the party drags itself out of the cellar in a couple of years--maybe more--we'll have better guys to rally around than a bunch of retreads who promised to be out of Washington after two terms, but stuck around for two decades, indistinguishable from the liberals they feign to disagree with when election time rolls around.

If I knew that somehow, my vote--and my vote alone--would deny Obama the White House in favor of McCain, I would still stay home. While I've every confidence Obama will be awful, more form than substance, I'm not going to vote just because the Republicans think I'm duty-bound to do so.

Other than Georgia Bob Barr won't get 2% in any other state in the country. But as usual some lefturd has conjured up a batch of wishful thinking. Now Ralph Nader could really hurt Obama especially if Obama keeps trying to act like a republican.

Magic Negro

Democrat For BARR '08!

Well, not really, but the repubs used the tactic and turnabout is fair play.

Democrats For BARR '08!

Barr is a crappy pick by the Libertarian party. They could have done much better.

Obama, although I won't vote for him (or Barr, or McCain) is basically guaranteed to win. If you are Libertarian, that is a very good thing. The numbers of republicans (and democrats) that saw the light in Ron Paul's words will be doubled when the dems realize their is no hope or freedom in a 2 party system. If Ron Paul picks a worthy successor, things will be very interesting in 4-8 years. I am very hopeful...
