Wow!!!Hard to put into word the value of this soldier. If it were proper for a civilian to salute I would. Thanks is the best I can do.

I thank this soldier for his service. I revere him for his steadfast courage and devotion to duty. I admire him as a human being and an American.

What I do not admire are the partisan political lies and misrepresentations of the draft-dodging civilians that put him there.

And this is the crux: People who are against the Iraq invasion (many are Republicans) are not against the troops. The Cons are simply using the troops as human shields to cover up their malfeasance. They call themselves patriots; I call them something else.

All except the most stubborn Americans realize that now. I don't think the cons fool much of anyone any more, least of all themsleves. Now they use the threat of an attack on Iran to bully Congress and protect their own guilty asses from serious investigations. As the election draws nearer and the possiblity of their secrets being revealed the danger increase for America. We will not truely be safe until these criminals are safely out of the WH and the top ranks of the military and our intel agencies purged.

Every soldier who is in Iraq right now is there for one reason: because the Democrats want them to be. They campaigned to cut off the funding for the war and to bring the troops home, but when push came to shove--they don't really care that much.

So you guys on the DR need to quit pretending it bothers you. I know better. Now that Obama has sewn up the nomination, it seems that he isn't beating the drum for withdrawal either.

I'll be glad when he's sworn in, and suddenly we won't be hearing about all these issues anymore. Kinda like that campaign line from 1964: "If you guys vote for Goldwater, we'll be in Vietnam for ten more years."

Well, we did, and we were.

For one in his twisted life, RisR mutters a semblance of truth: Yeah, the Iraq war IS now almost as much the Democrats' fault as the Republicans'. Invading another sovereign state to steal its oil is pretty much a GOP ploy, but the Demos have had a chance to cut off funding, and instead turned around and supported Bush's call for a mere $400 million to fund covert operations in Iran. Yes, and to someone who is active duty, it's obvious that he volunteered for some of those tours. As much as you see in the press about those who spend two or three tours in the war, most soldiers do no more than about 1 or two over five years. Plus, listen to air force and navy when they say they have done "tours". Most of the time, they only do 3 months or 6 months. The army and marines do 12 - 15 months. That's a tour. This CSM was obviously looking for tours to further his career...

A CSM is a thinking man or he wouldn't be what he is. Robots do not achieve this rank. He is a professional soldier, but not a politician(sorry). He follows the orders of those above him and commands those below. He doesn't create policy he is a soldier and obviously a damned good one.
