Drudge Retort: Red Meat for Yellow Dogs

President Bush promised Wednesday to send more U.S. troops into Afghanistan, conceding that June was a "tough month" in the war. "One reason why there have been more deaths is because our troops are taking the fight to a tough enemy, an enemy who doesn't like our presence there because they don't like the idea of America denying safe haven (to terrorists)," Bush said. "Of course there's going to be resistance."

Buddies of mine who are vets of the 24th MEU say that the unit is staying a month or so extra. That's all I've heard about this. Naturally, they don't complain.

Whack-A-Mole on a grand scale....

they don't like the idea of America denying safe haven (to terrorists),"

pakistan and saudistan excepted, of course.

Failure-in-Chief has been fighting a bunch of guys in skirts and sandals longer than it took FDR to defeat the two biggest militaries in the world, or Lincoln a bunch of inbred doofuses.

But at leat they ain't bragging how swimmingly the war is going anymore. Even the Right recognizes reality when it kicks them in the balls often enough.

"Of course there's going to be resistance."

Why is it that when every critic says something like this, we're defeatist traitors who want the terrorists to win, but when Bush finally gets around to admitting it five years later, it's considered cutting edge wisdom that's supposed to disarm us all with it's realist candor?

What a douchebag.

Mission Accomplifucked!

Do we get the Flowers and Candies thrown at our feet now?

Should we check the chocolate boxes for IEDs?

Another bunch of dead American soldiers. R.I.P. Died helping Corporate America control the opium trade.

NG3 lincon and FDR both won wars this is true but as my dad tells me their is no way we could have won ww/2 if the same political attuide was in place then as now. To listen to him tell first hand of the effort it took and as the libs would say murder of inocents makes you open your eyes to the harsh truth of war. we have the best damn fighting guys and gals in the world but the politics have them tied, the last three have been this way, korea, vietnam, and now this one. one thing you must remember also if you are a student of history, Grant was a butcher he didnt care how many men died as long as he won the battle could you, assuming you are a US citizen stand to hear that another 600 troops were killed this day but we won.

gensherman, in both the Civil War and WWII, the US was in danger of imminent destruction from a clearly established enemy.

Korea, Vietnam and Iraq didn't even come close to meeting that threshold. The VERY best thing that can be said is that if we didn't do something, something bad might have happened somewhere down the line which would have negatively affected us or our allies - according to some opinions. There's a huge difference.

Moreover, in each case those wars were initially presented to the people of the US as brief, limited conflicts. And in each case, it turned out to be incorrect. So please excuse the People of the United States from being a little suspicious of the "expert" opinions of our leaders - especially when their track record - for either truth or accuracy, take your pick - is so very bad.

Right, in other words, those who believed in the cause didn't hesitate to sign up and go fight.
Why aren't you in Iraq saving America?

you broadcast one of the main reasons why its taken so long when you talk shit like this....and then to top it off with a typical biased and biggoted and predjudiced anti southern bullshit.....well you just cant get a better example of liberalism's bullshit than this.....

gensher.....your dad is exactly right.
I can not imagine the majority leader of the senate getting up on the floor and pronouncing that the war with japan is lost.

or the war with germany is lost......he would have been stoned to death before he could get out.

and of course HE HAS BEEN PROVEN WRONG AND WE HEAR NOTHING ABOUT THAT DO WE??????/
and isnt this what so many liberal fucks have said all along that THIS is the real war on terror??

and another again.......isnt this as much a nato operation as it is a US one??????/

TFD why am i not it the military? At 16 involved in a very bad farm accident, busted 6 ribs punctured a lung smashed kidney and torn splean. Walked a mile back to the house to call for help. Had a cut that started on the left scapula and ended on the right side of the belly button. This is what kept me out of the Navel academy broke the ole mans heart. And what is your reason.

You clowns that compare real war with fake war crack(pipe) me up.

The way Shrub has waged the current conflict has been a ponzi scheme. Never reveal the underlying reasons or costs. Execute the whole operation with loans, but expect full public support? Only an idiot would support such nonsense, but 19-22% still do, because they are clueless.
