Interesting. I thought Bushco granted immunity to the contractors in Iraq.

Torture:

Prisoners at luxurious Club Gitmo, on a tropical Caribbean island, got lemon glazed chicken and pecan pie. At Abu Graib we had to eat grilled pepper chicken and apple pie.

Torture!

Torture!

Torture!

Club Gitmo prisoners had cute Navy nurses in the infirmary, where they got excellent medical care. We had ugly male Army nurses, when we got excellent medical care.

Torture!

Torture!

Torture!

Oh! The Humanity of it all!

Political correctness will be the downfall of our Country!

That no doubt will be one of the excuses those ultimately responsible for it will make...

Political correctness will be the downfall of our Country!

How fucking retarded are you exactly?

Wot do torture allegations have to do with political correctness?

This has to do with right and wrong.

Good and Evil.

Sin and Grace.

Basic humanity.

Hiring contractors in Iraq so that well connected rethugs could become big money war profiteers and so BushCo could evade any kind of responsiblilty fer their heinous actions was a horrible idea on many levels.

Spud don't believe in the death penalty per se but in the case of individuals who torture other people fer a living Deth sez put them down like the mad dogs they are.

Actually Spud is quite surprised that some of these contractors haven't already had contracts put out on their lives.

They well deserve it.

Be Well.

Spud,

Wot do torture allegations have to do with political correctness?

I don't agree with you often, but that is a very fair question.

You know what? Fuck all of you. You sit there and bitch about one side or the other being responsible. How many of you have actually gotten off your asses and done ANYTHING about it? Bravo, bravo, you donated some money...but what have you actually done to get off your ass and help?

The Vernons and bogus paratroopers (wherever he may be) seem to suggest that Real Men have no problems with being tortured and lawsuits are for whimps, pussies and traitors.

As for Asshat, I'd book a flight to Kabul immediately to clean the joint out, but in protest against Homeland Security I'm not flying. And mommie won't let me cross the street. herm

No wants to legalize torture. Torture is wrong. But when we have a legal system that puts border guards in jail for defending the border because they shot at a known drug dealer, gives rights to terrorists that are in prison and allows them to sue anyone, allows criminals and immigrants more rights than a US citizen then I would say the PCness is over the edge.

The PCness is so bad in some areas when the Police have an Amber alert or Bank robbery they will not even say what race the person is when they want people to report any sightings.

Unclesam-
re: "..allows criminals and immigrants more rights than a US citizen then I would say the PCness is over the edge...."

I didn't know about this! What are the "more rights" that they get and we don't?

Your coming in more clearly now. I can hear you.

Too bad whomever you vote for will lose this time. Sorry, time marches on....

They should sue Dubya.

The vast majority of people in America and the world believes that people have been tortured in American prisons these last seven years or so. Only the American far-right believe that they haven't or at least that's what they say. It's disgraceful that Bush and Cheney are going to get a free pass for dumping America's reputation in the toilet by authorizing torture but they are. The far-right will regard this as a victory. Nobody else will.

Blue,

In Afghanistan, a supposed 'ally' came to the US with valuable information. He was treated as an 'enemy' and was subjected to a beating so brutal that he plead to be shot in order to no longer endure the pain. He died of his injuries 2 days later. The CIA interrogator, who was a violent thug his entire life, is on trial for this. Unfortunately a lack of an autopsy will make his prosecution more difficult.

Regardless, this shit has gone on for over a millenium. You are right to condemn this and to the extent that the Bush admin is responsible they should be held accountable. Nevertheless, don't sit there and pretend that this is unprecedented and has never occurred before within the US.

It's the first time in US History that Torture was sanctioned by the Administration. No matter how hard You try JeffJ You can't erase that fact.

Actually you hit on a point you may not have realized.

The US once again, does not have a worthy choice for POTUS.
We are forced to choose between constipated poop, and diarrhea.
Regardless of the "choice" they are both obviously still poop.

It's the first time in US History that Torture was sanctioned by the Administration. No matter how hard You try JeffJ You can't erase that fact.

I am not trying to erase that fact.

Yes, an attempt at setting guidelines was made and said guidelines are clearly outside of what is sanctioned in accordance with Geneva. Nevertheless, it's always been done, but in the past it was done with a nod and a wink in lieu of a defined mandate.

Funny Dat Be.

Larry

Thoes guys are living better than if they were in an AQ camp. Screw them.

Larry,

It ain't funny at all.

Anyhow, nothing I've said makes any attempt at erasing any facts.

If you can prove my historical context wrong, be my guest.

Illegal immigrants get way better health care in hospitals and if you want check out the welfare benefits in the safe cities. Hospitals actually hurt from the benefits of illegals and the working people pay for it.

Just look at the abuse on any government program.

Nevertheless, don't sit there and pretend that this is unprecedented and has never occurred before within the US.

Here's the deal, Jeff.

The US has subverted legitimate democracies and installed brutal puppet dictators in their place and in the process provided training, methodolgy and equipment in order to allow their puppets to torture their people into compliance with their draconian rule.

Mostly it was the CIA who did the torture training.

Wot Bush did was worse and different.

Bush cut out the middleman and turned the US itself into a stinking torture state.

You can't torture people w/o a part of you dying inside.

The American's who have been ordered to commit these vile acts have been lessened as has the nation itself.

Refusal to face up to these grim realities makes one an accomplice to them.

Be Well.

I am waching a program on NATGEO about the CIA. This shit has been going on forever. It ain't new with the Bush Admin.

So, it's OK then. Anything with an historical precedent is automatically not subject to ethical judgement. Thanks, I'll have my 14 year old wife pass that on to my slaves.

Easy solution. No more prisoners, just shoot them.

Well, thanks to BinB's vast research and exhaustive surveys of "the vast majority" we now have .... bullshit.

Even if it were true, surveys do not determine what has occurred on a military base in another country. Even after they are 'informed' by a few selective photos.

These are puppet complaintants propped up by some ACLU goons.
Just look at what they are asking for:
Compensation for all of the detainees and a restriction to be enacted on contractors running the site.

There never was any torture anyway. But some ACLU scumbags who hate America turn on the tears,Boo,Hoo,Hoo! liberal,60's radical dope smoking dirtbag lawyas.

Every administration has been doing it to some extent. Did you come down on any of the democrats during their administrations? Hell no. Bush is the only boogy man.

while i'm no fan of a "naked pyramid", i hardly consider it torture. embarrasing and humiliating, yes, but not quite the same as a rusty knife across the throat. are we able to sue AQ? how much do you think we can get for planes flown into 2 buildings full of American citizens?

Can they actually sue the contractors?

The company would likely prevail on a Motion for Summary Judgement and get out of the case.

The individuals have no pockets and in prison.

Are there cases in the past where folks have been able to sue the captors for alleged torture and settled or won a judgment?

"ACLU scumbags who hate America" protect YOUR sorry ass. Why? herm

Good move. So, when it comes out in court that none of the torture ever happened...

I agree with you, Bush is a moron for doing it.

But the article is talking about torture that is outside the scope of Bush's policy. However, in the eyes of the World, torture is torture.

Herm,

I really want to see these go to trial. I want to know what really happened.

The bad thing is, is that if there is no truth to the torture, then this will be forgotten.

However, if there is even a small occurrance of torture, then people like you will be shouting it from the rooftops!

That's embarrassing.

"First time in my adult life that was proud to be an American"

Does that ring any bells?

Freedom of speech brings on the freedom to be yourself, no matter how dumb you look.

What's wrong with you people. Don't you have any sense of self-worth? Time passes. Nothing changes. Conflict is an attempt by each side to prevail and/or survive. We are facing an implacable foe. And torture works.

Sadaam illustrated this when his 20% of the population kept the 80% under its thumb by being relentless and without compunction in its use of tactics. Iraq was relatively peaceful. Those Iraqis now the ones we consider so "easily insulted" or "easily provoked," were the ones walking on egg shells afraid to oppose the dominant party. Iraqis sat by silently and took no action when the sons of Sadaam would rape their wives and daughters. Nowadays we are circumspect less we "offend" them. We've conceded a sense of power to them, and they're running with it.

You pussies would rather have had our troops confronted by long-term deadly opposition than to have disposed of our enemies by intimidating them. It's management by objectives, and somehow we are so deranged nowadays that we relinquish the opportunity to reach our objectives on the cheap because of self-imposed restrictions on our behavior. By limiting our tactics,d we hobble ourselves. Why?

Bringing suit against American forces or their surrogates should be made a capital offense and the petitioner executed. That's end this nonsense.

We are facing an implacable foe. And torture works.

You're absolutely right, Johnson, if our foriegn policy were a smart idea. It's not. If we want to continue our interventionalist policy and invade those countries who don't obey us and tell them how to run their country, then you are right, torture is the only way.

However, there is a better way, Johnson.

But, are you being sarcastic? Because, that would make better sense.
