Drudge Retort: Red Meat for Yellow Dogs

The Columbian drug cartels have acquired a new weapon in their arsenal. They are now using small, submarine-like semi-submersibles assembled deep in the jungle to outmaneuver drug agents and traffic cocaine to North America.

Great headline -- and very interesting article -- sounds like something "Miami Vice"
would have come up with on their show.

These drug cartels are always one step ahead of DEA and the other drug enforcement agencies. Now they're using semi-submersibles. The money to be made in the drug business is astronomical. That's why we will never win the war on drugs.

When you take in the casual way that the Colombians treat life and the somewhat serious nature of a screw up on even a semi-submersible, Maybe this would be a good time to be afraid of the water-be very afraid.

Visions of the Hunley dance before my eyes. If there is any consolation, the men of the Hunley died famous. That isn't quite what the drug smugglers have in mind-that is sinking. I am surprised that the bosses that sent of this scary thing didn't put locks on the hatches. Those same locks being accessible from the outside only. This leaves few if any witnesses.

That's why we will never win the war on drugs.

Win? Who wants to win? Do you know how many people in this country earn a living fighting the war on drugs?

The war on drugs is great for our economy. Let people become addicted.

The harder we make it for heroin and cocaine to get into this country, the more people we get to employ to "try" to prevent it coming in. Its a self fulfilling prophecy.

Well the War on Drugs is going as well as the War on Terror, as well as the War on Poverty, as well as the War on Insanity.

It takes a stupid voter to vote for a stupid politician. That's why we have the system we have.

The PRC "won" the "War on Drugs" by executing users as well as dealers.

We just don't have the stomach to follow a program that eliminates users, and the market.

But, maybe marijuana should be legalized.

Or we could have the approach tried with borrachos. Give the skid row inhabitants enough money to buy enough booze to drink themselves to death.

Similarly, flood the market with cheap drugs for addicts. Provide them with unlimited supplies for their own use - give them fixes, under supervision of course, and let them leave "the use house," stoned.

But we're too humane. Then be cautious. Look what repeal of Prohibition did to the American economy. Post hoc ergo propter hoc.

"We" have no intrest in stopping the flow of drugs into the country, in fact in time you ever hear that "we" down a big dealer it was an accident or because they stepped on "our" feet. If it weren't for the big guys they wouldn't be able to fill prisons with the small guys, then how would they justify stealing all of our money from us to pay for it all? I liked a lot of the ideas that the late great George Carlin put out there, I'm paraphrasing now:

If you want to get rid of drugs in this country all you'd have to do is start publicly executing the bankers that allow drug dealers to launder their money for 50 cents on the dollar. Christ, you wouldn't even be able to buy drugs in a public school or a prison anymore. . .

CC, you got that right.

Is this another Bush/Gannon thread...you know, Bush Das Blow!............

If we make ignorance illegal.....the pRez would be in jail now.....

Along with most of America FrankF.

Larry

if there was a higher power to enforce the Geneva Conventions Bush/Cheney and many of their puppets (like Addington) would be in the Hague right now facing War Crimes.

but even with no higher power than the United States, these shitbags can't control Iraq or Afghanistan, given more time and money than WWII cost. The whole thing would be a fucking joke (or just an excuse to feed the military industrial complex) if not for all the unnecessary human suffering and capital carnage. Why don't alleged Christians care about these things?

This is nothing new. I was a Sonar Tech in the Navy back in the mid 90's and they had trained us to listen for these very things.

Also, the Cartels had so much damn money that they were planning to buy an older Soviet-era D/E submarine. I believe it was a Tango class boat and they were supposed to use it for drugs. I never heard much about it after that.
