Drudge Retort: Red Meat for Yellow Dogs

Long been scorned by authorities for congesting the city's already fierce traffic, bicycle rickshaws are making a comeback in New Delhi and other places across South Asia in response to the region's $7-a-gallon gas. "My rickshaw is my life. It's very cheap for my passengers," said Saurabh Ganguly, 27.

Take me to happy ending place - chop! chop!

When gas hits $6 a gallon I'm buying one.
The guy who pulls my rickshaw can pay me rent and live in what used to be my garage.

Jinrikisha = person strong vehicle.

The US will regress to this if we don't start voting out the damn environmental socialists.

No man is pulling mine no matter what you cal it.

"The US will regress to this "

In order for us to "regress to this", we would have had to been like that at one time, which we (USA) never were. It's time for someone to invent the engine or battery that can get us from point A to point B. Until then, drill 'til the world looks like swiss chesse, the age of oil is over.

A coolie pulling a rickshaw or peddling a pedicab will probably not succumb to PAD (peripheral artery disease). the cup half full.

Methane time. Refuse time. Cars able to use any of a variety of fuels should be mandated.

The oil producer cartel has set prices at what the market will bear, and is in the business of acquiring assets in Western countries to sustain themselves after oil is used up. Then we should play "our turn" with the bastards and nationalize their assets as they did the oil resource.

Is it "fair" that the Saudi population, only one-sixth of whom work, should have the per capita income they do, while the people of Kenya, who do work, have a far lesser per capita income.

The U.S. as a world power can use its resources to insure that we have a sufficient supply of cheap energy, while it is still available. Our government is derelict in not securing those resources using whatever methods are available to us. And why are we not, have we not yet, asserted dominion and control of the Iraqi oil reserves, and use them to pay ourselves back and additionally compensate ourselves for our investment of lives and treasure in Iraq?

The U.S. should not permit oil producing countries to impoverish us. That's "Rule 1."

Hey Califchris if I pull your rickshaw for you are there any "fringe benefits" involved?

The Paki motor-Rickshaw... noisy nightmare on 3 wheels. And it's everywhere because rates are cheaper than a taxi.

It was invented by an American!

Well, Gimme_A_Scotch, suppose I throw in a bottle of
1937 Glenfiddich.

A few shots should keep you happy and your rickshaw up and running. (grin)

Another kind of Rickshaw (Chinese design).

Really bad movie I remember ... but I like bad movies.

American Rickshaw.

A Miami college student finds himself framed for the murder of an evangelist's son. He hooks up with an Asian witch and a stripper to find the real killer and clear his name.

Tosser

I don't know if you've seen America's sprawling suburbs. Homes are so far from the workplace that 60-100 mile daily commutes are common. I see unskilled low wage workers who have long commutes having to quit their jobs because they can't afford the transportation. Rickshaws won't work here.

I know that.

That is also why we don't have them here... we only got the motor-rickshaw.

The movie I mentioned is pure fantasy.

Say "Greens," how much "waste" does a rickshaw boy produce per mile traversed as compared to a gas powered vehicle? Is there a real savings from the substitution?

Gird your loins for war. We've got to seize, er "appropriate," some of that oil to preserve our economy and maintain our standard of living. Are we going to allow "ragheads" to bleed us to death? Are we sheep to be shorn and slaughtered? The cost to us should only be the cost of "appropriation."

We need the oil. It's time for us to go in and take it. What's wrong with this President that he is permitting others to inflict the death of a thousand cuts on us?
