Drudge Retort: Red Meat for Yellow Dogs

A top aide to Vice President Dick Cheney had a heated exchange with a Democratic Congressman at a hearing on torture interrogations. When David Addington refused to answer a question because "al Qaeda may watch C-SPAN," Rep. David Delahunt replied, "Well, I'm sure they are watching, and I'm glad they finally have the chance to see you, Mr. Addington."

Disagree with someone politically... hope they get killed by Al Qaeda... yeah, that's civil.

That's nothin':
Massachusetts State Representative James Fagan (D) voiced his opposition to Jessica's law requiring stiff mandatory sentences to child rapists. As a defense attorney, Fagan promised if such a law were in place and victims assume the stand "I'm gonna rip them apart." Fagan continued "I'm going to make sure that the rest of their life is ruined, that when they're 8 years old, they throw up; when they're 12 years old, they won't sleep; when they're 19 years old, they'll have nightmares and they'll never have a relationship with anybody."

Massachusetts State Representative James Fagan (D) voiced his opposition to Jessica's law requiring stiff mandatory sentences to child rapists.

Add this with the 5 SCOTUS Justices standing up for child rapists and you start to get a pretty clear picture of what Liberals are all about...

That couldn't be a Romney style democrat, could it?

Party aside, the guy's a dick... i wouldn't put in a 911 call if I was the sole witness to him being hit by an H3 in the middle of the night on a lonely road.

And David Addington? Come on... that guy is far more guilty and deserving of anything he gets than any 12 year old child molestation victim.

Wouldn't lose a wink of sleep over that douche.

Speaking of losing sleep.... Hey, Rob. ;-)

Why are dems so hateful?

"Why are dems so hateful?"

Where have you been these past 7 years?

I love the Republican spin on this. A Cheney aide can't handle tough questions on the torture practices crafted by the administration, but we're all supposed to be outraged that the torture enthusiast had to endure a sarcastic remark. I rewrote the summary to show what the "glad" comment was in response to.

Right... you want us to have this philosophy

"I will love everyone
I will love the (Bush Administration) as they kick the shit out of me on the street"

-FZ

Why are dems so hateful?

I think a better question is this: Why do Republicans suddenly develop a sensitive side when they get the same kind of criticism they've been dishing out for years? Politics ain't pinochle.

'Al Qaeda May Watch C-SPAN'

Yes they do and read the New York Times, Washington Post, and their favorite site is Daily KOS. They cant wait til Obama is elected so they can have free rein.

Addington (Cheney Aid) replied that he could not discuss that because "al Qaeda may watch C-SPAN."
"Right," Delahunt (Dem) responded. "Well, I'm sure they are watching, and I'm glad they finally have the chance to see you, Mr. Addington."
"Yeah, I'm sure you're pleased," Addington shot back.

Most of the Dems are clueless on what it takes to combat terrorism. They think we can all just hold hands and show the world that we love them, ala Chamberlin. If it was me and my family was afterwards threatened as a result of that outrageous comment, I would want to kick his dem. piece of shit ass! Worthless bastard!

Correctly spelled Chamberlain - a true Dem.

Help me understand. Why is he in more danger over this comment? Addington said al Qaeda is already watching CSpan. They know who he is without this exchange. So what makes him more of a target?

To quote Tim Duncan, this is basically retarded.

So Mr Addington is in more danger now?

Addington works for Cheney, who has raised risk avoidance to an art form.

They're both weenies. Their only fear is their base is gonna figure it out.

They cant wait til Obama is elected so they can have free rein.

Posted by KBM at 2008-06-28 10:08

Obama is another Zionist stooge. They are not stupid to believe otherwise. I argue that they expect Obama to continue the Bush legacy.

They read financial news too. The game plan from the get-go was to bankrupt the US and they are succeeding beyond their expectations. Simple formula: no money = no military.

Granted, my comments were over the top. A public official should not comment in such a way that he would express gladness that such a notoriously dangerous organization was watching - If it were me I would be outraged. It is inexcusable, and warrants his profound public appology - not a qualified one.

Man, oh, manoshevitz! I'm sick and tired of these libs and their complaining about the past 8 years! Go the f away and let our leaders finish the job they were elected to do! I for one will not be happy until we bog ourselves down in Iran, get laughed at and economically trampled by China and India, wallpaper our walls with
dead presidents, allow our baser, jingoistic impulses to blossom like the battered and chastised bully who can still swing a bat, and start scapegoating everyone for these problems besides the elitist scoundrels currently hiding behind the flag! Please, President Cheney knows what's best, the fact that he's laughing at the average joe because we believe he's an actual patriot and not an elitist concerned with the protection and growth and consolidation of power for a select few, just 'cause he's doing that, I mean, it's a nervous tick is all and a liberal plot to make us believe that actually standing up for the average joe is pinko behavior. So, back off you mother fucking libs. There's work to be done, scoffing to be scoffed, and a country to fuck -- don't mess it up!

Ray -- I disagree with most of what you post, but the comment about the plan being to bankrupt us from the get go, I believe is dead on.
But I believe our treacherous leader have been complicit in the bankrupting, protecting their own. And Grover Norquist and his pals are to blame as well -- they've been wanting a bankrupt government for years. Well, here it is. Get ready for the police state, the villagers are getting hungry and the torches are being dipped.

Man, these cons are beneath contempt...

If you think the Repubs are tough on the poor misunderstood (let's see . . . let's not offend by calling them terrorists or homicidal murderers) "protesters". Let them take out an American city or two - then the real party will begin!

"A public official should not comment in such a way that he would express gladness that such a notoriously dangerous organization was watching "

Nor should a public official pretend others don't have access to Google Images.

Hey Dems, try posting an opposing view on democraticunderground.com. You won't last long. At least Drudge allows all opinions - DU can't take the heat. No wonder their leaders in their party want to revive the "Fairness Doctrine". No wonder they lose the Whitehouse most of the time! They only have a chance this time because the Repubs have been conciliatory with the Dems. Their base is disgusted and the Dems still hate them.

"If you think the Repubs are tough on the poor misunderstood...."

That's part of the point, Republicans have demonstrated they aren't tough on terrorists. That is, unless you count chasing your own tail and growling as tough.

Where's Osama? For that matter, where's the guy that attacked our citizens with anthrax seven years ago?

"They only have a chance this time because the Repubs have been conciliatory with the Dems...."

We talk a lot about myths here. I smell one developing now. Specifically, that Republicans are losing because they've been too "nice", as opposed to way too stupid.

At least Drudge allows all opinions

You really think so? I know this is your first day, but try posting anything pro Nader. you'll learn quick.

At least rcade won't dump your posts, but you might wish that he had after the mob gets a hold of you.

"Way too stupid....?"

Glad you asked. For example, why spend billions and billions on mercenaries but not expand our own Armed Forces?

Whats rcade?

Get ready for the police state, the villagers are getting hungry and the torches are being dipped.

Bush signed Executive Order 51 establishing the prerogative of the president to declare martial law under emergency circumstances.

Notice how the police are becoming more militarized? There are reports of Homeland Security evacuating flood areas and looting empty homes. Iraq is the perfect proving ground for the military to test their methods in the US. I think it is only a matter of time.

Whats rcade?

he's the guy who runs the retort: Rogers Cadenhead

Posts get dump all the time. Hell threads get dumped.

Is it spin or denial? Repubs want to talk about Dem response to Repub stonewalling. If Cheney could he would have closed down C Span.
Why do Republicans hate the truth? Why do they hate candor? The answer is simple. They are in no hurry to expose themselves as an essentially criminal enterprise, based on greed and enforced with heinous cruelty.
It's not surprising to see the usual suspects on this board lining up, lock step, to steer the subject away from the administration's crimes.
Yes, Nazis, torture is a crime. And your boys practice it. And we know it. And we're going to put them in prison for it.
Now go back to blaming the Dems.

Well he only hoped Al Quaeda tortured a republican, and the other dem slimeball wants to make rpae victims wish they were dead, but at least they didn't call anyone "Maccacca".

Rccade,
Dems are the fucking epitome of being concerned about something when the other side does it but turn a blind eye when it's their own (the mortgage scandal, the "rape" dem, sweetie, etc). You guys need a transfusion after all of the bleeding you do.

We have completely left the road. The story is about a congressman expressing that he was glad that our dangerous enemy could I.D. him on C-Span. This is indefensible irresponsibility. The congress should man up (or woman up) and apologize without qualification.

The congressman should apologize.

OK retard. Tell me all about the "we" that are going to put theem in jail. Is the "we" you and your boyfriend? Cause it certainly isn't Pelosi, Reid, Obama, and Clinton.
It certainly isn't any of the limpwristed dems that are pro-Fisa.

So who is it then you god damned fool?

Dems are the fucking epitome of being concerned about something when the other side does it but turn a blind eye when it's their own

Hey 101, have you seen this?

www.drudge.com

That's "epitome!"

Hell threads get dumped.

No they don't. They scroll off the front or back page after time when newer stories are posted.

His name is Obama and he's coming to a White House near you. The Dems will control both houses of Congress (in reality) and your boys are toast.
That's who, you God damned nazi.

While I understand some of the underlying frustration, I think it was a pretty dumb thing to say, and the honorable thing to do would be to apologize.

rcade,

Thanks for clearing that up. I tried DU twice. They can't tolerate an opposing view thus their support of the "fairness doctrine".

Father of four. Two words of advise...birth control.. Your welcome;-)

YAV,
I did see that. Looks like 2 of them. How many Dems voted for FISA?

If they are that stupid they won't last long. Clinton was a dumbass in his 1st 2 years and the Repubs took both houses as a result. I suspect Obama is smarter that the slickster. We will lkiely see.

I hope you didn't chip a nail while typing that sweetie.

The reality is that you broke dicks aren't going to do shit. You aren't prosecuting anyone for torture, you aren't getting out of Iraq, and you certainly aren't going to stop harsh interogations, secret prisons, rendition, etc

Face it you ignoramus, you've been suckered.

BTW, the whole "nazi" thing doesn't make you a drama queen at all. In fact, it makes you unique and very intelligent...

How many Dems voted for FISA?

You'd have to be more specific for me to take the thread in that direction. Best left for it's own topic away from here. I've gone through the proposed bill though. There is no immunity from criminal prosecution, only civil. That is too much for me, personally, but I understand the issue wrt the President promising the telecoms "safety" and them proceeding based on that assurance.

Qwest got it right, IMO.

RE: Looks like 2 of them. Not exactly:

Mr. WICKER (for himself, Mr. VITTER , Mr. CRAIG , Mr. ROBERTS, Mr. INHOFE, Mr. BROWNBACK, Mr. ALLARD, Mr. THUNE, and Mr. SHELBY) introduced the following joint resolution; which was read twice and referred to the Committee on the Judiciary

(I'm sure you know the party all those listed that sponsored and co-sponsored the bill belong? I looked them all up to make sure.)

MWM clinton is/was all about clinton. Bush is dumber than a box of rocks. My hope is that Obama will shake the shit up. If not I will vote Repub in 2012. 4 kids my God! I have two and that's a fucking house full! Yea he should say sorry and man up. Welcome to DR... Off to the Cubs/Soxs game.....peace!!!

Congressional Sepina brought two vile advocates of torture out of the dark. Some of their testimony was played on free speech TV while the rest of the media largely ignored the event.

Addington's favorite phrase was, "I don't recall". He barely answered one question, thumbing his nose at Congress and covering CHeney's ass at every turn.

Tenured Professor Yoo squirmed and dodged questions, by refering tog third parties whenever a Congressman asked him a direct question, such as , "Can our enemies use the techniques you justified against out troops" and "Is it legal for the President to bury someone alive"?

Of course these policies were initiated at the highest levels of our Government, namely Bush and Cheney. But don't count on SCOTUS to give these favorite sons the same treatment they gave Clinton. They will resort to unimaginably twisted logic to assert their extreme Republican agenda. One set of rules for you and another completely different for us. This is one of the characteristics of modern American Right Wingers.

I hate agreeing with you.

This time I do.

Damn.

YAV,
By the 2, I meant two hypocritical jerkoffs. I have no idea if the other sponsors are adulterers, although nothing would surprise me anymore.

The moral of the story is both parties are full of "do as I say" and feign outrage when the other party does exactly the opposite of what they say or does exactly what they just got done railing against.

What was it the Dem's ran on in 2006? Do you really believe we're leaving Iraq? Do you believe a Dem would be doing anything different in regards to Afghanistan? How about the Iran blockade?...Isn't that just blatant hypocrisy on the part of the Dems?

You're right though, different topic for a different time.

OK. I don't disagree; waterboarding is torture - which I don't condone. My son is swearing in today as an Army medic. I wouldn't want him tortured either.

Again, the issue here was the inappropriateness (at the very least) of the Congressman's comments. He should be ashamed.

Hag,
I'll bet we agree on much more than we disagree. I simply ramp up my opinion a little more aggressively because there are so many strange agents on the left that are so fucking far out there that I enjoy taunting them.

I am pro-torture, pro rendition, pro-secret prison (anti-talking about it publically though). By "pro" it doesn't mean it should be done for the hell of it, but "pro" as in I'm glad we have those options available.

He should be ashamed.

Should he be more or less ashamed than:
Addington,
Yoo,
Bush,
Cheney?

Without who this entire C-Span episode wouldn't have been possible.

It was inartful, unneccesary, over the top and unprofessional. It was also meaningless in terms of a threat. That's a world of difference from those we've tortured, grabbed illegally, held for years and then released saying "Oops!"

Good afternoon to all!

I'll bet we agree on much more than we disagree.

Chair, I don't know, when I agree with you, it's like meeting you in the east by travelling due west.
That is, generally speaking, I'm to the left of Ghandi. I don't hold it against you though. ;-)

I have to go make baby food. See y'all later.

Most of the Dems are clueless on what it takes to combat terrorism.

Unfortunately for you-you have no idea that they're not even trying to fight terrorism-all they're doing is lining their pockets-and the pockets of their corporate donors. At your expense, I might add.
In all your rantings about Dems-remember this-WE didn't start a war with a country that was no threat to us.

Seemd that conservatives did'nt care so much when Valerie Plames identity got ou. Conservatives are hilarious with thier selective outrage. Just like now by pointing out Obama's flip flop's. Maybe so but McCain has flip flopped more but to conservatives it's okay becuase they agree with the flop part. It is a really good thing that conservatives are getting voted out. Dems may not be much better but who cares. At lteas their is no selective outrage.

Why does it not occur to anyone that Delahunt's remark might have been a veiled reference to the extreme difficulty of getting anyone in the Bush administration in front of Congress?

It was badly phrased, true. But if Delahunt had said, "Mr. Addington, of course they can see you. And I'm sure they're just as fascinated as we are to see one of this administration's officials actually appear at one of these hearings, instead of hiding behind assertions of "executive privileges" that seem to exist only in the minds of the President and Vice President," I think Delahunt's possible meaning might have been clearer.

That's the way I took it, anyway.

Arthur Neville Chamberlain (18 March 1869 9 November 1940) was a British Conservative politician and Prime Minister of the United Kingdom from 1937 to 1940.

conservatives, forever on the wrong side of history.

You see, Chairborne, in America everybody gets to watch, even our enemies. It's called democracy.
"I am pro torture. . . . I'm glad we have these options available."
Wrong yet again. In a civilized society we to not have these options available. Torture is an option available only to war criminals. Zieg Heil and have a nice day.

newsworthy and worth repeating...

Chairpoodle gets his tool handed to him...spot on IGGY!

"I'm pro-torture...."

Whenever I hear things like that I have the mental image of someone cultivating dermal sores, much like Baron Harkonnen in Dune.

"By pro that means it (torture) doesn't have to be done for the hell of it...."

Now, this is interesting. As if anyone that tortures doesn't have a reason.

"Is it legal for the president to bury someone alive....?"

Well, if I understand Chairborne's point of view, it's always good to give him that option.

...Just always make sure the man, woman, or child so buried is someone Chairborne really, really, really dislikes----That injects morlaity into the process.

I love the Republican spin on this. A Cheney aide can't handle tough questions on the torture practices crafted by the administration, but we're all supposed to be outraged that the torture enthusiast had to endure a sarcastic remark. I rewrote the summary to show what the "glad" comment was in response to.

Posted by rcade

So you felt the summary wasn't an accurate portrayal of the story, and felt the need to change it...

McCain's Pastor thread went unchanged, McCain offers strange praise of Mafia thread went unchanged, McCain: Cheney in my administration, Hell yeah thread went unchanged...

Its just fucking silly at this point...

And sarcastic comment or not, a Democratic Representative said he was "Glad" Al Qaeda could identify an Admistration official... what are we supposed to believe that means, he thinks Al Qaeda now knows who to send their complaint letters too? Bullshit... he was saying he was "glad" because he wants al qaeda to be able to target him...

Well, I'd say this Bush shyster and any al-Qaeda operative that happened to be watching him on TV have an equal chance to fry in Hell---It's just a question of who gets there first.

BTW, the whole "nazi" thing doesn't make you a drama queen at all. In fact, it makes you unique and very intelligent...

Oh there's the headline cop whining again. Note that Rob is missing in action whenever some rightwing douchebag posts a "biased" headline.

You're free to start your own blog, you big crybaby.

What "tough questions" on torture? Torture of terrorists is justified, particularly if there is any chance of eliciting information that might result in interdiction of attacks on Americans.

Get over this mentality that somehow we need to restrict ourselves. Retrun to the old adage, "All's fair in love and war."

Remember that we may have killed 100,000 Germans when we fire-bombed Dresden, and may have killed 100,000 Japanese when we fire-bombed Tokyo.

No quarter.

The Japanese built 20,000 aircraft the last year of the war, but lacked the fuel with which to fly them because our subs were so successful in sinking their tankers bringing oil from Indonesia. Nowadays the libs, the left, would chastise our forces for "not rescuing" the Japanese seamen, who were "harmed," and thus compromising our actions.

The lefties act as if outcomes are a foregone conclusion, and that total effort and commitment are not necessary in pursuit of victory.

Weep for the decent Americans, whose lives are endangered by the impediments placed in the way of our warriors engaged in the front lines of this conflict. Torture our damned enemies and be without remorse. The torture is warranted. No "apology" is necessary. Exult in the suffering of your enemies. What a bunch of wimps this feminized country has become.

Nice to know it doesn't bother you at all though, lmao.

Now if you'll excuse me, I have to go buy a new grill.

Your selective outrage is hypocritical. You've been awol anytime one of your conservative pals have posted opinionated headlines.

I change titles when promoting stories to the front page fairly frequently.

Opinions are one thing, dishonesty is another. If the recent trend of headlines towards McCain were just opinionated there wouldn't be a problem... the problem I have with them, is they are dishonest.

I responsd to everyone who has something to say to me... doesn't mean I care.

"And you think I care if you take me seriously, because?"

I really don't care. I'm just pointing out that you're a hypocritical whiner.

"...al Qaeda may watch C-SPAN,"

And I should care because....?

I think we can take it for granted that Al Qaeda watch C-SPAN. I'm sure they watch CNN, MSNBC and FOX too, the latter for propaganda tips if nothing else. That sounds like a good reason to shut them all down or would be if the Cheneys and Addingtons of this world had their way.

So what's this snake Addington's concern here?

It's that the illegal and unconstitutional behavior of the Bush administration and their lackeys, of whom he is one, sees the light of day. If you had used your legal skills to enable the torture of prisoners, allow illegal searches and weaken Habeas Corpus and were asked to justify them you wouldn't want the details to see the light of day either.

As a reactionary, hard-right fascist(not conservative, which is an honorable political position) you'd use the occasion to throw in some gratuitous, sneering disrespect for the people and their elected representatives too. You shouldn't be blamed too much for that as that socially despicable behavior seems to be embedded in the DNA of people who would do the more reprehendible things that are under scrutiny.

No sh*t, Sherlock!!!

The Spec Ops reports from the caves of Kandahar reported that Al Qaeda monitored the global media, and had a vast intel network that far outstripped what the USA and West mustered. AQ continues to excel at exploitation of the internet and global media.

Hey Dick Shady! What use is it to spend hundreds of billions on the Executive Branch's private secret army and intel service (CIA) if it doesn't gather intel better than our would-be enemies? The POTUS's CIA has become the puppet of the VP, eh! Good enough for Dick Shady!

Why don't Republicans understand sarcasm?

Or is it just the ones being questioned by congress?

If this guy REALLY thought that Al-Queda was watching C-Span then he should not have agreed to have been there.

CLEARLY the statement about them being glad to finally see him was sarcasm as anyone could look up what he looks like (probably an adress too if they tried hard enough).

But typical of the Rpeublican noise machine now the press will talk about this non-story instead of the non-answers that were received during the questioning.

Yet another sign that our country is going straight to hell...and soon.

they are watching cspan?

well then the war on terror is over...
well thats IF we could get them watching cspan AND THE weather channel.........they will all be mesmorized by the screen with the clouds and the different temps around the country and then they will get where they cant move until the the shot of the house or the senate floor is over while the votes are being counted.......
oops......dont the rest of you catch yourslef with these images on your tv????????
uh oh!!!!!!!

It is well-known in Intelligence Circles that Al Qaeda only watches Roadrunner cartoons for the insights provided into IED's and their sourcing.

We gotta tighten up TV; it's providing "aid and comfort to the enemy."

Next thing ya know, Bin Laden will be getting his ideas about American women from re-runs of the Donna Reed Show.

If the guy has some information that they should just waterboard him .

What? There in absolutely NOTHING wrong with waterboarding, it's a perfectly legitimate technique to use for getting a guy who won't cooperate to spill the beans. It's either that or they can pull some Abu Ghraib style fraternity pranks with the dogs and the car batteries hooked up to his nuts and what not. Nothing wrong with any of that stuff, right guys?

I just thought it over and I think I'm going to find out who my representatives are and send out some letters about this. Waterboard the entire Bush administration everytime they won't cooperate, it's only exactly what they would do to anyone else. . .

These Turds that the republitards put into the WH are completely fucking clueless.

Saddam Hussein was watching CNN during the first gulf war according to Bushit 41. Why would it be a surprise that Al Qaeda is watching our news now?

no it isnt and they are probably watching road to the white house right now. I mean, why wouldnt they, since hamas has endorsed barrywayne for pres????????

no it isnt and they are probably watching road to the white house right now. I mean, why wouldnt they, since hamas has endorsed barrywayne for pres????????
