Drudge Retort: Red Meat for Yellow Dogs

The swollen Mississippi River burst the Elm Point levee near St. Charles, Mo., today, submerging farmland and threatening a residential area. A mobile home park where 700 live near the levee had already been evacuated.

Mother nature is a bitch.

Gods punishment for all these redstaters voting republican. God only loves democrats. Katrina was the work of Republicans who used tnt to blow the levees thinking they could change voter demographics. God is now repaying the favor.

Messiah-if I were religious, I'd say this and katrina and 9-11 and the lost wars in Iraq and afghanistan were all a Righteous but wrathful God's vengence for the Republicans and SCOTUS violating His gift of Democracy to America back in December 2000.

But I'm not, so I'll just put it all down to global warming and incompetent leadership.

North,
If you were truly religious you would know that God doesn't care about election outcomes, the stock market, the price of oil, and a lot of other things that you think are so important in your tiny little life.

How do you know what God cares about Vernon???

Answer: YOu don't.

Vern,

I don't see where NG3 blamed Gawd for any of those things, but keep up the stupid work.

It's more stupid to blame Global Warming, than it is to blame God. At least God exists.

By the way, what does "flood plain" mean? And if the river isn't prone to flood every few years, why have the levees at all?

Ah well. Maybe after a few years of Obama and $10 gasoline and tens of millions of poor Dem voters parking their vehicles, never to crank them up again, we'll never have another serious storm. And the polar bears won't have to swim anymore. And unicorns will again be strolling the streets of New York.

Mother nature is NOT a bitch. PEOPLE ARE STUPID!

RiR,

On what basis do you make the claim that God exists?

If we face $10/gallon gasoline, as Europe already does, what the fuck has that got to do wih Obama? How can you sit there with a straight face and deflect from those that are running the show including planning an invasion of Iran?

Just like the California Energy Crisis, this outcome is directly connected to Cheney's Secret Energy Task Force as well as destabilization of Iraq with continued threats against Iran, a falling dollar and massive speculation in oil, all secret, just like pre-9/11 investments? We can thank Greenspan and Bernanke among others for insuring oil trading is under the table.

Missouri is a "purple" state that shares a border (i.e., the now-overflowing Mississippi River) with a blue state, Illinois.

Martial Law: A License to Loot, a Permit to Plunder (Updated

freedominourtime.blogspot.com

RisR, the common use of the word "floodplain" usually refers to the boundaries corresponding with water surface elevations associated with a 1% annual chance rainfall event. However, almost everywhere on earth could be considered "floodplain" if an extreme enough rainfall event occurs (see Noah).

At least God exists

And therin lies the root of all your problems, RIR. Delusions. I would point out a century of scientific observations versus one anonymous book, but I know Righties view science like they view reality-an unnecessary evil librul plot.

But back to the whatif- your God destroyed two entire cities because the denizens weren't living up to his standards. He even turned a believer into a pillar of salt for glancing over her shoulder. Why wouldn't He smack a Nation around a bit for tossing away His cherished gift, especially if the beneficiary turns out to a prince of a liar?

But thanks for not disagreeing about Bush's incompetence. It shows you are improving.

Let's see how the locals and the state handle this compared to the Katrina victims.

Differeing demographics. Let's see if the predisposition to welfare dependency affects response in emergencies.

"You think we care about your stinking Levees?"
The Republicans

Johnson-so you're saying this flooding and Katrina are exactly alike and FEMA learned nothing frm its fuck-ups in katrina?

Or are you simply repeating the KKK talking points?

"You think we care about your stinking Levees?"

guess you think that because you named yourself a misspelled village idiot that you have a license to behave that way?

No, Eddie, I think it because it's true; the same way you choose to believe illusions.

You guys are truely a lost cause if you think the FEMA response has anything to do with demographics. Or Global warming. The areas protected by levees were historically part of the Mississippi floodplain - why do you think the farmland is so rich there? Most of them were constructed when the Corps or other agencies were in their "structural" phase of floodplain management - as was the case in NO. The levees are designed to withstand a certain storm event with some freeboard. ANY levee can be undermined, overtopped or just fail after being under hydraulic loading for a long period of time.

Statistically, a "100 year flood" has a 39% chance of being exceeded every 50 years.

Darn pork projects! Freegin' congressman wanted money to help shore up his states levies. The nerve of him. John McCain was right to speak out against this garbage. He is truly a great American becuase, it is his voice that has contributed to thousands of people losing their homes to floods. Vote McCain in 08'

And therin lies the root of all your problems, RIR. Delusions.

* * * *

Uh huh. I'll assume you'll be throwing the lever for Barack Obama, though. It's okay to be delusional if you're a lefty, I suppose.

I'm an evangelical Christian who believes in the Big Bang, and have read dozens of science books, all by myself. I didn't even need some clever guy like you to explain the long words to me. What's harder to figure is how atheistic scientists, who are always trying to figure out what caused what, have gone all the way back to the instant of creation, and don't try to explain the biggest uncaused cause of them all.

Ol' Man River
Keeps on rollin'
Keeps on rollin' along....

What the hell are you blathering on about UP? Thousands of people lost their homes because they chose to live behind a levee. There is no 100%gurantee that you will be protected from flooding when behind a levee. Even if the levees were upgraded, some of the areas being flooded are experiencing flooding events which new levees are not constructed to contain. They live along a major flooding source, it rained big time - they flooded.

" don't try to explain the biggest uncaused cause of them all."

God? Why would atheists try to figure what caused God?

"What's harder to figure is how atheistic scientists, who are always trying to figure out what caused what, have gone all the way back to the instant of creation, and don't try to explain the biggest uncaused cause of them all."

Actually, there are at least a few theories about the Big Bang et al. Biggest being the multi-universe one. Another is the Wave Function. And there are others from quantum cosmology. Still, one would have to do some reading to know about them.

What's harder to figure is how atheistic scientists, who are always trying to figure out what caused what, have gone all the way back to the instant of creation, and don't try to explain the biggest uncaused cause of them all.

The Big Bang is another version of the Cosmic Egg from the ancient Egyptians. No matter what you call it, it doesn't answer where the original stuff came from.

There are some scientists who argue that there is no Doppler red shift; color has to do with age. If that is true the universe has no age. Whatever; I subscribe to a timeless infinite universe and human imaginations unbounded by the laws of Nature.

"I subscribe to a timeless infinite universe"

That's nice, Ray.

I'll alert the editors at Astrophysical Letters.
They will certainly be in touch in the appropriate time.

Fred Hoyle has been dead a while.
You can join him. The sooner the better.

What's harder to figure is how atheistic scientists, who are always trying to figure out what caused what, have gone all the way back to the instant of creation, and don't try to explain the biggest uncaused cause of them all.

Likewise, theists don't try to explain where god came from.

... scientists... have gone all the way back to the instant of creation

Almost. They still have 1^ -43 seconds to go.

God tells us what He cares about in His Word. I read God's Word and so I know what He cares about.

Does God care about Florida in 2000 or Diebold? Does God give a flip about Swift Boaters, Exxon's stock price, carbon footprints, or ambulance chasing whores like John Edwards?

From my knowledge I say no. From your ignorance: You don't.

"I subscribe to a timeless infinite universe"

Nice and comforting. Even Einstein wanted to believe that. He hated the fact that the math and physics pointed to a Big Bang.

Einstein hated a beginning because it implies the existence of God
