"The security situation has improved in Baghdad lately, and the attacks happen much less now. ... 'Improved' means there are less explosions, less or no more sectarianism and maybe no more terrorism organizations or militias. 'Improved' doesn't mean that we can move freely, doesn't mean that we can stay up in the streets till morning or go to cinema, clubs, theaters or concerts." -- Iraqi journalist Mudhafer Al Husaini

Look back to the post-World War I era in what is now Iraq. Winston Churchill then called the UK's exercise of Post-Ottoman control in Iraq as "miserable, wasteful, sporadic warfare".

Can you imagine living in a situation where you say, 'there was only a few people killed on this block this week'.

Thanks Georgie....

Does anybody remember why we went there in the first place? Oh yea, WMD, or was it terrorism. So far, we have all the WMD and we are attracting all the best terrorists organizations. Is there a grading scale to judge the killing efficiency of your terror cell?

Back in 2002, it was clear that Bin Laden was winning the "hearts and minds" propaganda war against Bush and Cheney. As, SECDEF Gates recently pointed out, "How has one man in a cave managed to outcommunicate the world's greatest communication society?"

U.S. officials have also acknowledged their inability to counter al-Qaeda's ideological arguments, despite a multibillion-dollar investment in public diplomacy and covert propaganda. Duh!

(See: www.washingtonpost.com)

So in 2002, we could have focused our effort on expanding soft power, but the neocons and shrub and shady and rummy decided thay wanted to satisfy their thirst for Iraq's oil rather than fighting the ideology that actually aimed at harming all societies on Earth.

Great going neocons, AIPAC, Shrubby, Shady, Rummy, and Condi!! Great going, Congress!

How has one man in a cave managed to outcommunicate the world's greatest communication society?"

Binladen could speak arabic and probably some English-Bush neither.
But if they could have a dance-off, Bush could kick his ass!

"Improved" means there's an election coming up and a urgent need to spin. Five years after invasion (longer than US WWII engagement), No jobs, no 24 hour water, no 24 hour electricity, little heating oil or gasoline, 1 million dead, 4 million displaced, all Christians have left the country or are in hiding, trillions wasted, Moslem hatred on the rise.

But honest, things are much "improved" from last year, as long as Arab life is meaningless and BushCo is free to define progress.

"How has one man in a cave managed to outcommunicate the world's greatest communication society?"

Maybe because his cave is in Langley?

4 Americn soldiersilled in the last two days-in "secure" council meetings, not on the street.

Mission so not Accomplished.

Damn MSM distorting all our victories in Iraq.
