Drudge Retort: Red Meat for Yellow Dogs

I've been working on ways to improve the experience for Retort users who post blog entries. The create blog entry form now includes character counters and a list to recent blog posts. The latter feature makes it easier to avoid linking to a news story someone else just posted, like last night's death of George Carlin. You have to be logged in to see the list.

WTF?

WTF? Over...

Never try to avoid a double post while driving drunk.

That third post will nail your ass every time.....

What/ I can't hear!

What!!

WHAT!!!

Thanks, rcade....

Sincerely,

Hagbard "chronic second poster" Celine

Incidentally, Hagbard, I also fixed the bug that hosed your link to Bloomberg's story on Carlin's death.

Once I saw the earlier post, I never went back to mine, like a deadbeat ignoring his bastard child.

But thanks anyway.

Thanks Rogers for your contiual improvements to this site.

I like it... I felt like a real douche linking to that Haditha Marine possibly suing Murtha, when Oorah had already done so and had like 18 comments on his thread...

Hellloooooo?

How about telling people to look first to see if anyone else has already posted the story. Someone just put up a THIRD userblog today about George Carlin passing away.

I've gone to put up userblogs but I at least check the front and back pages on here first and a number of times someone has beat me to it so I don't put my story up. It's just people being too lazy to bother checking.

Take it easy chris... it's not exactly obvious what the front and back pages are for in the first place. And you're essentially implying that nobody has any business posting unless they've already researched the way the site works, backwards and forwards. if rcade wanted it that way he would... today at least he's in a kinder mood than you.

Thanks again, rcade.

Sincerely,
Hagbard "second George Carlin Poster" Celine

Some posts are just to important/infomative to post once.

CalifChris, philosophically I agree with you that people should pay attention.

However, I see nothing wrong with RCADE trying to mistake-proff his web site. Athought this feature is not strictly speaking a poka yoke kind of device:

en.wikipedia.org

it was incorporated intto the blog in the spirit of mistake-proofing the site.

It reamins to be seen whether people will pay attention to the recently posted stories. If not we are back to square one.

I don't know about the rest of you, but *I* double post when it takes so long for the publish function to execute that I think the system has gone down and hit the key again.

The kind of double posting I really want to end is when Wobbele and the grounded paratrooper post the same rightie bullshit. I take it El Cid and Ryker have retired - maybe in embarrassment. herm

How about making userblogs grammatically and spell check corrected RCADE?? Or am I dreaming??

Larry Mohr

How about not allowing posters to sign their username after every fuckin' post. A la Larry "Larry Mohr" Mohr.

Retort: Avoiding Double Posts"

Can someone post post a link to this story?

How about being able to edit/delete your own posts.
I know the function exists, enable it

Hey, did you guys hear that George Carlin died?

He was a famous comedian.

Comedy is tragedy. But Carlin will never die.

Ok, I admit to posting Carlin's death without really checking through the list, I could blame it on coffee shortage, but really just didn't have the reading glasses on and didn't catch it on the side. Just an honest mistake, no harm meant.

(third G Carlin death poster)

He was one of those guys who you never think of getting old because his humor is timeless.

Coffee shortage has been known to mess with many a thoughtful human endeavor. You are excused.

And yes, Carlin was great. Just watched his Seven Words bit again - classic.

How many gratical errors can you find in that post?

I think El Mohr was asking out of dire personal need.
