Olberman is good for the type of show he does, but I don't see him as a MTP kind of journalist.

Why would you think that? Olbermann's been blunt in saying he's not qualified to hold that position.

Williams did OK, but he got walked over. He shouldn't stay long or his reputation will get trashed by comparisons to Russert.

Follow up - does anyone know when Brokaw will take over? Was Williams only for this Sunday? I read the linked article, but didn't find anything declarative. I'll go read it for the 3rd time.

The sense I got from watching Williams this morning is that Brokaw starts next week.

williams was a little stiff but anyone would be considering the situation. an interim ANYTHING is usually not the long term when replacing someone as good as russert

Lyndsie Graham just kept repeating his broken talking points over and over again. He sed that Obama wanted to unilaterally abandon NAFTA. Biden disabused him of the notion. Brian cuts to a quote of Obama saying that he is not talking about either acting unilaterally or abandoning NAFTA but rather renotiating from a position of strength in order to put verbiage in there that ensures enforcable environmental and labour standards.

Graham tried to make out that Obama's decision to forgo public financing was a negative and a BIG DEAL.

He FAILed.

Biden noted that Obama's reason for supporting Public Financing in the General was because he backs the winnowing out of corporate bigmoney.

By having so many low money contributors Obama was able to compete without having to sell his soul.

Biden to Graham: "Your entitled to your own opinion but not your own facts"

So for the umpteenth time, Olberman has said publicly, as recently as on his own show Friday that he IS NOT qualified and doesn't want the job.

And it seems BL2 was watching TV in Bizzaro World again and saw something different yesterday than everybody else.

For the short term Brokaw will add stability and give Meet the Press direction until NBC finds Russerts full time replacement after the general election.

Yes Russert had his own style which is going to make it hard to replace him but there are a number of excellant journalists who can develope there own style into this serious sunday morning show.

Not only did Olberman never say that, he openly said that he didn't want it and that he is in no way qualified for the position.

Also, the Chris Matthews piece was due to someone hearing him say "how should I approach it".......he was a having a private conversation about an interview he was going to be doing soon.

The Republicans had 6 years.... 6 years in control of both the POTUS and Congress... Did we get a smaller government? Did we get any streamlining of the budget? Hell did we even once get a balanced budget?

No... what we got was runaway spending, a new social program in the form of prescription drug benefits, a few new government agencies, a power grab by the head office, basically the most bloated Federal Government in history. A massive deficit (when he was handed a surplus for chrissake)... Oh and lets not forget the trillions tossed down the drain on a pointless war...

So ya know, despite all the cries of "OBAMAS GONNA SPEND US INTO OBLIVION!!!!" The last time the Democrats held the office we had a balanced budget and a surplus...
