Drudge Retort: Red Meat for Yellow Dogs

Relatives of 24 Iraqis killed in Haditha Nov. 19, 2005 -- the deadliest documented case of U.S. troops killing civilians since the Vietnam War -- are outraged at the acquittal or dismissal of charges against seven Marines accused of their killings. "We put our hopes in the law and in the courts and one after another they are found innocent," said Yousef Aid Ahmed, one victim's brother.

News flash. War is killing and breaking things. If you are an innocent bystander, get the hell out of the way.

Not always an option, Sniper. Besides, if the same thing was taking place in the US, would you be moving to France? Or would you say "this is my country, I'm staying put?

That said, I don't know why they expected any different outcome here.

"If your an innocent bystander get the hell out of the way....."

Glad to see innocence is an important consideration for you.

I love the notion of war as a behavioral sink. Maybe, if we work hard, we can all carry machetes and cut the arms off of twelve-years-olds that refuse to fight for us.

I had a conversation with a guy once who insisted no one is innocent. Sincerely insisted. Think of the ramifications of that belief system.

Zed, I believe that's the entire basis of Christianity.

Everyone is a sinner, Argh. But that's God's to judge. What I'm getting to is men playing God, and thereby proving they are anything but.

Put a different way, if there is a Christian God, He cares if we care about innocence.

Reminds me of the argument, the worst one I've ever had on the internet, I had with a guy when I said you should protect the weak. The idea of having to protect a class of beings he refused to believe outraged him.

The concept of the Devil was a hard one for me when I was young and smart.

Payback Rules:An Eye for an Eye!

As "Snipe" said "News flash. War is killing and breaking things" So following this sage advice, what these Hadita people should do is get a gun or a bomb and just wait for their chance and then pay these Gutless,Murdering Assholes in the US Military back,Good and Fucking Proper!!!!!

Anti--go phuck yourself!

wow, I sincerely hope anticadillac was trying--badly--to be funny. Otherwise...

The Iraqi people have no one to blame but themselves for all the death and destruction in their country. When Hussein was thrown from power, they could have taken the opportunity to build a better society.

They chose to form "Death Squads" to kill anyone who doesn't interpret the Koran the exact way one group or another does... And they did it by the tens or hundreds of thousands, possibly even millions. Muslims in the Middle East are savage and barbaric... there is no denying that.

"The Iraqi people have no one but themselves to blame......"

Many fanned the flames, but the cow the kicked over the lantern came from this country.

But I'm pretty sure that cow thinks the way you do, Rob. He'll retire soon to chew twenty-million dollars worth of cud.

Rob You are so full of shit Your hair folicals spew brown stuff. The one who draws first blood is responsible for the whole thing. Oh and how dare You dictate what another Country does. You would not allow another Country dictating what this Country does now would You??

Larry Mohr

You would not allow another Country dictating what this Country does now would You??

If roving gangs of Protestants were traveling from town to town and murdering baptists by the hundreds of thousands, and vice versa... yeah, I would expect other countries to chime in.

Larry answer me this, why does us being there, mean that the Sunnis and the Shia should start killing each other by the hundreds of thousands... if they were all teamed up trying to drive us out, you'd have a point, and they would just be trying to drive out the invaders, but why kill each other in such staggering numbers?

Can you answer that?

Many fanned the flames, but the cow the kicked over the lantern came from this country.

Same question I asked Larry... yes we started it, went in took out Hussesin who they hated, and they even at first were very glad to see us, but then they decided it was time to start killing each other... as many as they could.

Why? Why does America simply being there, or Hussein not being there, mean its time to start murdering Sunni or Shia in such numbers?

Tough shit camel fuckers. When can we leave your shithole?

All I know, Rob, is that I'm sick if kids explaining to me that war is a time when things get broken acting surprised when they find shards of glass litering the floor.

Yes, the Sunni and the Shia are killing each other. What did you expect from a war, glory?

Us Military = Useless,Cowardly Scum-Bags!!!

Oh Yeah real Tought Shit all you Cowardly (and now DweadA) US Military Assholes!!! Lets hope there a whole lot more of you cowardly, useless scumbags to come home in a fuckin plastic bag!!!!

Well Zed...that guy you refer to was absolutely correct.

"I had a conversation with a guy once who insisted no one is innocent. Sincerely insisted. Think of the ramifications of that belief system."

Romans 3:23-24

23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,

24 being justified as a gift by His grace through the redemption which is in Christ Jesus;

This pretty much levels the playing field, does it not?

Can you imagine the mindset of one who thinks Nancy Pelosi is more righteous than you or me? How about George W. Bush? Will you buy one of these?

If either of these are more righteous than the other, by what (whose) standard should they be measured? Yours? Ahmadinejad's? How about Saddam Hussein's? Mohammed? You tell me.

shalom:rwb

There are no righteous men. Just men. Everything else is vainglory.

Justice, Justice we don't have to show you no fricken Justice. We are Americans we do what every we want an the hell with what the World thinks. We killed all of the American Indians, an we will kill anyone that get in our way. If you don't like it to hell with you, WE ARE AMERICANS, this World belongs to us God gave it to us and its up to us to keep it....Fuck you Blacks, Orientals, Asians Fuck you all, America first fuck everyone else.....

REPUBLICIANS, RIGHT WING ASSHOLES....WE ARE THE BOSSES....

Yes, the Sunni and the Shia are killing each other. What did you expect from a war, glory?

Posted by Zed

Glory? No... Sunnis and Shia, murdering each other by the hundreds of thousands maybe more... no not that either.

that's not war, that's just ethnic cleansing... if not for the sunnis and the shia being barbaraic savage muslims, Iraq would be a much more stable, peaceful and functioning place.... you know that's true.

Why do Shi ites and Sunnies battle it out?? Easy for supremacy. They have to fight it out to see who comes up on top. It's their way of life. Been that way hundreds of years.

........seems the Iraqis are derelict in training their three year olds to dodge Marine bullets.....

I haven't followed this incident, but I did not expect a military tribunal to prosecute those soldiers no matter what they did. This case sent a message to every soldier in the ME to feel free to shoot at will. That's the code the military lives by.

Suppose. Just suppose the next president declares martial law in this country. Iraq is a proving ground on how to lock down a country. Don't expect any less if it happens here.

According to "Just War Theory", as outlined by St. Augustine: (1) Acts of war should be directed towards enemy combatants, and not towards non-combatants caught in circumstances they did not create. The prohibited acts include bombing civilian residential areas that include no military target and committing acts of terrorism or reprisal against ordinary civilians. (2) Force used must be proportional to the wrong endured, and to the possible good that may come. The more disproportional the number of collateral civilian deaths, the more suspect will be the sincerity of a belligerent nation's claim to justness of a war it fights. (3) An attack or action must be intended to help in the military defeat of the enemy, it must be an attack on a military objective, and the harm caused to civilians or civilian property must be proportional and not excessive in relation to the concrete and direct military advantage anticipated. This principle is meant to limit excessive and unnecessary death and destruction.

These thoughts were written in the 4th C. A.D., when North Africa was a stronghold of Christian philosophical wisdom and cosmopolitan intellectual thought.

I would think that when the bullets start flying the entire family would be gone.

Boy, what a bunch of wimps, who demand that the U.S. restrain its behavior to conform to some inane idea to which they subscribe that delineates what the world "should be" like. That this does not coincide with the reality is a matter of great irritation for them.

Yes. the U.S. invaded Iraq. Yes, we have troops there now. Yes, troops engaged in combat, kill - if they are successful, that is.

We have placed too many restraints on our forces. We expose them to harm by engaging in house to house combat rather than razing areas with airpower and artillery. If we put men into battle, situations in which they are "at risk," it is our obligation to adopt tactics that reduce our casualties to a minimum. Our powers that be have not "kept the faith" in this regard.

Some of you leftist goons would summarily condemn all of our troops as deserving harm because of their presence in Iraq, and would contrive any circumstance to harm them.

If it were necessary to sacrifice someone to appease the Iraqis, appropriate people to sacrifice, ones to die for our purported sins, would be those who feel guilt. these two would be Congressman Murtha and the reporter who initiated this investigation by erroneously reporting the circumstances in collusion with a purportedly pro-insurgent employee of the same news organization.

The "hate America" crowd can "eat shit and die." Americans have no reason to credit creeps who attempt to constrain our conduct of operations so that Americans are more likely to suffer harm.

The shame and tragedy of this is that the farcical condemnation of our people, occurred at all. They should be compensated for the harm done them by a government run amok attempting to propitiate lefty America haters, who would cherish their goal to create a weaker and more vulnerable America.

Screw the Iraqis. If they wanted to have avoided bloodshed, they should not have conducted operations against our forces.

Screw the Iraqis. If they wanted to have avoided bloodshed, they should not have conducted operations against our forces.

Would Johnson be saying that if say China or Russia attacked and occupied the US? Sounds like he would be a quisling.

This is American Justice as the rest of the World sees it, Of course these Right Wing Assholes will tell you the hell with what the world thinks. Real mature thinking, THE DECISIONS IS THIS CASE ARE A NATIONAL DISGRACE!!!

blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, and blah

Small tragedies can get lost in a big war, but it is sad and troubling that, so far at least, it looks like no one is going to have to pay for the November, 2005, massacre of 24 civilians in Haditha, Iraq. That's the mostly Sunni city in which, at the height of the insurgency, U.S. Marines mowed down a carful of unarmed Iraqi men, apparently shooting them point blank as they lay on the ground, and then stormed into surrounding homes where they butchered men, women, and children.

So the tragedy of the massacre is now compounded by the tragedy of a judicial whitewash and coverup. As Bob Dylan wrote in "The Lonesome Ballad of Hattie Carroll," about a maid slaughtered by her employer who was then given a six-month sentence for murder: "Now is the time for your tears."

so if the outcome isnt what you wanted, then it is a whitewash?

obviously this puke, robert dreyfuss, hates the military...

Larry, I hope you are blown up by a roadside bomb that your neighbor plants. It would be justice in response to the way you feel about our Marines.

Hey Eddie when a person does wrong they should be punished no matter WHO it is. Sorry You don't feel the same way.

Larry Mohr

No surprise. The bigger mugger lets the little muggers go free. The Haditha event is just a smaller analogy for all that is going on in Iraq.

How do you know for sure they did something wrong?

They were aquitted.

When a civilian plants a road-side bomb, they become a soldier, be they man, woman, or child. Sorry Larry. You just don't know and you are blaming the Marines. I hope that one day you find out that you are wrong, and you will.

I would to believe that there was no cover up by the US military courts. What occurred at Haditha was horrifying.

What I find horrifying about this story is that John Murtha would go on tv and lie about the details. I'm also horrified that the lefties here would yell cover up without considering the facts given in the court martial. According to you guys their all guilty without even having a trial. What's up with that? Court martial proceedings have to consider all of the evidence and make a determination of guilty not guilty.

Anti, really you should consider moving to Iran or at least moving into the mental hospital so you can get back on your anti-depressants. You are out there in left field and NOBODY, absolutely NOBODY, is playing ball. In the mean time, I suggest you consider leaving drudge and be Michael Crook's crony since you both have the same philosophy.

If you are an innocent bystander, get the hell out of the way.

~Simply Not Paying Attention aka SNiPA

Out of the way?

Asleep in their beds?

In their own homes?

How much more "out of the way" could they get?

Are you really buying into this whitewash?

This cover-up?

Murtha was wrong?

No, Murtha was right.

This massacre was wrong.

This war continues to be wrong.

Be Well.

War is war and shit happens. This appeared on British television. Needless to say, nothing like this ever appears on US television.

Wrong war. Wrong place. Wrong time. And all because we elected an idiot as president
