Drudge Retort: Red Meat for Yellow Dogs

John Nichols: A review of polling data from around the country makes it obvious that a lot more than three Senate seats could fall to the Democrats. While no Democratic incumbent -- with the possible exception of Louisiana's Mary Landrieu -- faces a serious threat, as many as a dozen Republican seats are competitive.

Back to the Carter years. Most younger voters do not remember what a mess he made. After four years of higher taxes and a bad engery policy the economy will be even worse (yes it can get worse) and a Repub will run on a platform of change.

Yeah, only bad thing will happens, we need more republicans in charge.

Signed- an utter fucktard.

"Most younger voters do not remember what a mess he (Carter) made...."

Do you think younger voters will remember the mess Bush II made?

You may be correct about younger voters. Fortunately, there is history to document Carter's presidency:

www.huppi.com

One of the lessons the Vietnam War (should have?) taught us was the economic impact that war can have. Apparently, the US is about to "re-learn" that lesson (ESPECIALLY if the war is financed by "credit card"!). I also submit that the US would be MUCH better off (economically AND politically) today if we had continued Carter's energy policies.

The numbers won't matter unless it hits 60-40 enough to over-ride a Republican filibuster. If McCain becomes POTUS they will need 67-33 to over-ride a veto.

McCain won't be president.

You had your chance, and you royally screwed it up for all of us, and our children.

"after four years of . . .bad energy policy."
SAWDUST

Bad energy policy? LOL
Reagan took the solar panels off the roof of the White House. Now that's bad energy policy.

Right on, Ignor!

It is a glorious thing watching the republicans sling every damn crumb of mud at this election, with little effect on We The People.

Can anyone say 'Death Throes'?

Maybe you can all pray to the Prosperity Jesus for help.

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA

IGNOR=IGMOR

These ignorant Republicians love to blast Pres. Carter, they do this to deflect the diasaster that the last four Republician Presidents have been....

NIXON...Quit before he could be IMPEACHED FOR WATERGATE....

REAGAN...Let 275 Marines be Killed in Lebanon, his response RUN...Than attack Granada Week later...Should have been IMPEACHED for his involvement in the IRAN/CONTRA AFFAIR, theres more but you get the point......

BUSH Number 1, fuck it he is the Father of the worst President in our History....

BUSH Number 2, the worst President in our History, TORTURE, WIRETAPPING, FIRING OF FEDERAL ATTORNEYS,ILLEGAL WAR, THIS Fuck IF THE CONGRESS HAD ANY BALLS WOULD HAVE BEEN impeached in his first term.

Mr. Carter may not have been the best President ever but his accomplishment of bringing Israel an Egypt to the Peace table, an his warning to us that the Oil crisis was serious an unless we took it serious we would be in dire states, well here we are. Mr. Carter put Solar Panels on the White House to try to lead the Country into conserving fuel only to have the Panels removes when the Reagan administration came to power...

When President Carter left office there were over 320 OIL Refineries in this Country, today ther are less that 150, explain that you Republician Assholes, after all you have held the Presidency for 20 out of the past 28 years, WHAT HAVE YOUR PARTY DONE IN THAT TIME IN MOVING THE ENERGY DEBATE??? FUCKIN LOSERS.....

SO YOU FUCKING REPUBS, spend some time looking a the damage you have done to this Country by your choices, not very impressive is it!!!!!!!

Lets compare records:

Unemployment: Bush 5.5% Carter 8%
Inflation: Bush 3.5% Carter 12%
Interest Rates: Bush 6% Carter 21%

I think I will stick with Bush's numbers.

Bee Swell

"Bush's numbers...."

IQ? As long as we're talking numbers, is the dollar worth more or less now than eight years ago? And what percentage of the increase in gas prices does that decline account for?

"Reagan took the solar panels off the roof of the White House."

In the energy crisis which will come in the next 40 years, this will be looked at as one of the true symbolic moment in our time.

Ofcourse, it was a symbolic jesture then.

Repub filibusters will be real threats, but 60-40 is within reach. President O'Bama will hardly be likely to veto anything that a heavily Demo congress passes. herm

Hey, I did not say that I agree with what Bush has done. Spending is out of control. It is a bad thing.

I said at the time that the "peace" in Iraq would be much more difficult than the war.

I believe that both Bush and Carter are good men who had bad ideas.

I believe that whoever has been president for the past 30 years has dropped the ball on energy. We should have been drilling more, building more nuclear plants, , investing in clean coal technologies, investing in alternatives to oil etc. If we had been earnestly doing these things for the past 30 years we would not be in the situation we are in.

When I look at what Obama wants to do and the fact that there will be no one to balance in congress, it makes me very nervous. A lot of what he is preaching is very similar to the things that Carter did. And trust me it was a mess. As far as trying to live, it was the worst time of my life. A time I do not want to go back to.

So call me all the names you want, but you have to, what did Hillary say, "suspend reason" to believe that Carter was not a bad president and that to return to his policies would make things even worse than they are now.

I believe that both Bush and Carter are good men who had bad ideas.

Bush is not a good man... unless, that is, running around with a perpetual smirk and having total disregard for the health of our nation are pluses.

"...SO YOU FUCKING REPUBS, spend some time looking a the damage you have done to this Country by your choices, not very impressive is it!!!!!!!"

Well, at least they have Family Values (tm).

the fact that there will be no one to balance in congress, it makes me very nervous.

So you voted for Gore and/or you voted for Kerry to balance out the Republican dominated Congress?

"Republicians love to blast Pres. Carter, they do this to deflect the diasaster that the last four Republician Presidents have been...."

Celery, you are an idiot as usual. Carter was terrible: everything he touches (even today) turns to shit.

I could give you a long list of total fuck ups, from choking off natural gas supplies to the Iran hostages. To starving millions in North Korea. But you don't care because you are too much of a partisan hack to truly grasp it.

Whatever you think of Reagan, Bush, Bush II has nothing to do with what an awful person and president Carter was.

But, but, the Drudge Righties are saying nobody likes the Dems!

Could it be the Drudge Righties are wrong?

Again?

one thing is certain, Carter loves Bush, because of Bush, Carter is no longer the worst president ever. Carter sent Bush a letter of thanks "Dear George, thanks for letting me off the hook, when people discuss the worst ever president they won't mention my name, Thank You..."

How do you raise taxes without letting people know it (keep it secret)? Call it deficit spending, Repubs are too dumb to notice!

****** Nichols: Repub Prospects Grim in Senate *****

..........they made their bed..........

Pendulum is swinging to Dems. It'll swing back later.

On a serious note, here's a hypothetical. If Bush had captured Osama and stayed fighting the Taliban in Afghanistan as so many Dems claim to have supported... would Reps be in the pickle they're in now?

I think that yes, Reps would be. Spending, immigration, acting like Dem-lite so often. Reps haven't governed as conservatives and it's caused sufficient numbers of Republican voters to either sit it out or vote for the Dem candidate. Is it any coincidence that so many Dem candidates are running as conservatives?

On a serious note, here's a hypothetical. If Bush had captured Osama and stayed fighting the Taliban in Afghanistan as so many Dems claim to have supported... would Reps be in the pickle they're in now?

Not "Claim" to have supported, DID support, and still do. I can't understand how anyone can defend NOT capturing or killing the leader of the group responsible for 911. It's been seven years now, he has essentially gotten away with it. Thanks Dubya.

As you said, the pendulum swings, regardless. But my guess is that it would be swinging more slowly if Republicans hadn't convinced themselves that they could have a "Permanent Majority" and then acted as though no one would even find out about anything they did. They shot themselves in the foot. I'll agree the Dems haven't earned the reversal through any apparent virtue. They're human, that's why the founders put checks and balances in place to begin with, and passed the Bill of Rights. Too bad the Republicans didn't feel any of that "piece of paper" applied to them.

You gotta be shitting me.

The best thing about the 4 years of Carter was Billie Beer, and that wasn't even very good.

Please enlighten me what his energy policy was. I remember turning the heat down, the cooler up, lines at gas stations, and a very stupid 55 mph speed limit. Oh did I mention double digit inflation.

What has gotten us in trouble is the "stop all growth" policy of the tree huggers. They want fuel at $10 per gal so everyone quits driving.

Carter was a much better President than Nixon, Ford and Reagan together. The Republiccans are repeating the lies about Carter to deflect from the desaster their last presidents have been.
