Drudge Retort: Red Meat for Yellow Dogs

ST. LOUIS (AP) - Belgian Brewer InBev is offering a big payday to shareholders of Anheuser-Busch Cos. (BUD) (BUD) Inc., but its bid to create the world's largest beer company is already facing a major obstacle - U.S. election-year politics.

If this is allowed to take place it will be a travisty. We are losing more and more of AMericana each and every day. Something needs to be done to curtail this.

This happens when countries have a trade deficit. Those dollars they get from us buying imported stuff have to be invested somewhere and if you consider the trade deficit to be about $60B a month, we are selling America at the rate $2B/day.

Why do you think people around the world hated "free trade" and American multinationals? Not all of them were commies, some were just as concerned about their country being overtaken by foreighers.

Free Trade is something the United States has been pushing very hard since after WWII. The rest of the world is now using our rules of the game to compete with us and of course some people don't llike it.

I don't know, I am not too concerned about this. As someone pointed out in another thread yesterday there was a lot of fear of the Japanese in the late '80s and early '90s and now it turns out Japan has been stuck in a sluggish economy for years.

BTW, our week dollar should in theory help our trade deficit, but we have to import so much oil because we don't have enough domestic production thanks to Democrats and RINOs.

Something needs to be done to curtail this.

Something? Apart from developing a new economic system, there isn't anything we can do. This is just the end result of free market capitalism. The American people shrugged and that ball is now rolling down the hill all over us.

"Apart from developing a new economic system"

And what system would that be? Even Cuba is slowly moving in the direction to free-markets.

I don't know what f'ing system. I just meant that this is what you get with THIS system, free market capitalism.

Don't try to bait me, member. you know that I wasn't suggesting another system in particular... that is a topic for another thread.

The only thing that is going to help us now, barring a change of economic philosopy, is for us to figure out a way to harvest exo-planetary resources, because efficiency here has hit the wall and the resources we have are drying up.

I blame Busch!

Eric, ROTFLMAO!

on the up side - bud is really bad beer.
the best beer in the world, arguably, is coming from germany and belgium (rip britain).
maybe a bud would finally be a beer that one could drink without it being two degrees away from freezing. america has to chill make their beers to half-ice so as to drink the swill. not so with european beers.

all the best

Concur. Bud is the worst. I prefer microbrews like Stone or Lost Coast.

Great title.

I'm sticking with St. Louis beers no matter what. AB sells out to overseas owners and there will be nothing but Schlafly's in my fridge.

Oh wait...that's about all there is in my fridge as is.

" nothing but Schlafly's in my fridge."

Whew! For a minute, I thought you were going all Falstaff on us.

Falstaff maybe, but absolutely no Griesedieck!

Harry Caray must be rolling over in his grave.
