Drudge Retort: Red Meat for Yellow Dogs

Newly elected California Congresswoman Laura Richardson walked away from the mortgage on her $535,000 Sacramento home, letting the house slip into foreclosure and disrepair less than two years after she bought it with no money down.

There goes her appointment to the Finance Committee.

Classy...

Why won't America bail her out?

She "bought" a $600,000 home with no money down, and had to take out a $15,000 loan just to cover the closing costs!

Stupid bank.

R8...you are right. It seems to be a case of dumb meets dumber.

CRACKPIPE also posted this thread... but with the emphasis on the politician's party (Dem). That's fine, but I purposefully didn't want this to go down that tit-for-tat path and instead wanted to simply highlight the point that our "leaders" are making poor buying decisions followed by bailing out of their obligations.

And please tell us oohray were this congress person is bailing out of the obligation.

Within a 12-month period last year (2007-2008), I was a member of Long Beach City Council, the District Director for California Lt. Gov. Cruz Bustamante, a member of the California State Legislature, and, now a member of Congress. While the transitioning has impacted me personally, the residential property in Sacramento California is not in foreclosure and has NOT been seized by the bank.

I have worked with my lender to complete a loan modification and have renegotiated the terms of the agreement -- with no special provisions. I fully intend to fulfill all financial obligations of this property.

What part of this in the article did you not understand?

MON-
I could be wrong, but I think the article's been updated since I first posted it. It even has the word "update" in the top part in bold. I did not re-read the article this morning before posting my comment. Perhaps the congresswoman's version of the story is accurate. For her sake I hope so, otherwise I assume her resume will also include liar.

Still, my point was not to go down the path of Rep/Dem tit for tat and instead focus on the broader issue of pols living their lives in a "do as I say, not as I do" manner. I think we can agree on that aspect, no?

Oohray,

Yes, I understand what you are saying. I read the article last night and clearly saw that she was taking care of the problem.

More to this than meets the eye but she is doing the responsible thing to correct the problem.
