Did you see the big news event the US forces had last week in the Green Zone? They had promised to produce some of the weapons that the Iranians were suposedly providing to Iraqi terrorists for use against the US troops.

As promised, they displayed 20,000 weapons, ranging from IEDs and morters to Shaped Charge Devices. Very impressive array of some mighty nasty bits. There was one hitch.... The Defense Department's own analysists concluded after a comprensive review that not a single weapon was from Iran or had any connection to Iran. NOT ONE SINGLE ITEM.

4. from our base, fully secure and militarize a border, running from the 51st state in a southern direction, cutting off the Sunni from the Shia.

5. intense bombing campaign of the eastern, or Shia section, of Iraq AND IRAN. scorched earth campaign.

6. keep the Sunni closed up in their western corner of Iraq , while US companies turn eastern Irag and all of Iran into the world's largest oil field.

All polititians are all about exploiting whatever they can. Don't give all the credit to the Republicans. Though Democrats may not seem to be on the surface, they do indeed have the smarts to exploit whatever opportunity they can. Don't be so hard on them.

Even if Bush wanted to launch an attack; he would have to borrow an army to do it with. The liberals have nothing to fear; the military is busy elsewhere.

Huh? I've not seen chatter that we'll be invading Iraq with ground forces. With all the goodies the US has they'll be no need for them. DU bunker busters, etc will achieve what they're after. Who wants to invade Iran with troops? I've never heard that. There's been talk about a strategic attack since well before 2006.

You know what? It hasn't happened yet and I highly doubt it will under Bush's last months in office no matter what people think or how hard the Israelis bitch and complain. If it does I'll be as surprised as the Iranian nuke techs onsite just before their insides are turned to jelly.

No "Second" Army needed. no reconstruction, no no-bid government contracts, nothing. Just a few suspected sites gone or contaminated with enough DU to give the next couple of generations increased incidences birth defects and increased incidences of cancer. And then $135 a barrel oil will look like a blue light special on furbies the day after X-mas at K-Mart. I'm 100% sure there are advocates in Washington for this scenario, but it appears they are being neutralized by the more sensible in our government. But really if it happens, it happens -- I highly doubt any of us can do a damn thing about it.

Reading through the retorts on this thread, I can't help but to laugh. It seems that the same general crowd who thinks that Israel is evil and controls WDC is the same crowd that buys into this Jerusalem post (an Israeli publication, folks!) story.

This is a realistic statement. After eight years, I have no idea what sort of factors restrain George Bush. I don't think oil at $200 a barrel is one of them, though.
