Drudge Retort: Red Meat for Yellow Dogs

Sen. Robert C. Byrd, a former member of the Ku Klux Klan and a one-time opponent of civil rights legislation, endorsed Barack Obama for the Democratic presidential nomination on Monday. "I believe that Barack Obama is a shining young statesman, who possesses the personal temperament and courage necessary to extricate our country from this costly misadventure in Iraq, and to lead our nation at this challenging time in history," he said.

Rogers - this was a no brainer in my mind, despite the fact that his state overwhelmingly went for Clinton I think the poor man was between a hard place and an even harder place. Despite the fact that he could (with rational minds in place cause his state supported her) endorse Clinton, with his history I am afraid that the lunatics would have seen a Clinton endorsement as "racist" and "see, see, he is just going back to his KKK roots!" I am a full blown koolaid drinking Obamanite but I actually think in this particular case, with his state trouncing Obama 2 (or was it 3) to one. He really should have endorsed Clinton. JMHO.

Honestly, it doesn't prove anything one way or the other. Nice that he came out in support of Obama though. I wonder how long it will be before he's pegged as a chauvanist instead.

Byrd only endorsed the white half of Osama

.........Byrd is so old.....that when he was young......the Civil War was still not too distant a memory in this country........

..........give him credit for changing and maturing along with the country........

Damn. Who'da thought.

What a Country, a former KKK Member turned to a respected U.S. Senator endorsing an African American For President of the United States, maybe we truly are making some progress. This must be killing you fucking rednecks racist bastards, in January we will be swearing in a BLACK man as the next President of the United States, what will those Klan meetings be like GOATMAN Ha, Ha, Ha, Ha, Ha, Ha,

Celisary - goatman is neither a racist nor a bigot, if you spent about three seconds reading any of his posts you would have figured that out, but then that would cut down on your exclamation point time so I understand.

"LITLEBRITDIFRNT"....Take your nose out of that Racist Pricks ASS, GOATMAN can speak for himself, I spend my time dealing with Right Wing Pricks all the time, you don't even get to that level you fucking piglet, there was no exclamation points on my last note so FUCK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Celisary - there is nothing more glorious than a self retorting retort and I think you just won the self retorting retort of all time. I could be wrong, but I don't think so.

Wow , it's been awhile since we have heard anything from the white hooded Bush whacKKKer .Now he has become a horse of a different KKKolor .Was'nt he a grand poo pah or dildo of the KKK or something ?

I think that considering Byrd's speech against the Iraq invasion that his support for Obama is most likely based upon Obama's more consistent record of opposition to that war. The fact that Obama is a "Halfrican" is only important to folks far younger that Sen. Byrd.

I'm sure that Celisary is an expert on pricks. And his overuse of the exclamation point isn't so much journalistic license, but a phallic symbol.

ONLY the democratic party could have a
former ku klux klan member in it's ranks.

Ever watch republitards at a gathering? Count how many blacks are in the photo shoot. My, my how times have changed.

"RIGHTISRIGHT"...I know very little about Pricks, accept the one in your JAWS, spit that prick out I know that it doesn't belong to you.......

The russians , iranians are chomping at the bit , waiting for obama to lead America into oblivion . It's amazing how you can tell who would be the most worthless president just by the endorsements that they get from America's enemies .
obama can't repair America's soul , it's not broken , yet ! He can't bring America together , that will only be in the fictitous stories of him that leftwing media writes , trying to convince America they he can . The only people who will buy the tripe are those on the left that keep buying the LIE at American taxpayer's expense .
Stop and think about this , obama's speeches have no substance , and the promises he makes are antiConstitutional .He is just another worthless leftwing piece of shit , who does'nt have a clue .
America deserves everything it gets , when that piece of shit is made president .

Why can't folks just think that Byrd is making a decision based on his set of critical thinking and has nothing to do with race or gender?

Clinton beat Obama in Mass and Teddy backs Obama.

And Rez--I know lots of blacks who are Republican.

Murphy

Maybe Byrd is suffering from an extreme case of White guilt. Why does this former Ku Klux Klan organizer think he knows more than the folks of WV who voted 2-1 for Hillary.

I heard Byrd on endorsed Obama's white side.

Let me see not one Black Republican Member of the House of Representative, not one member of the Senate that is a Black American, not a Black American Governor in the Country what is this tell you about where the Republician Party is today?????

So much for diversity, the Republician Party is the party of White America, what a shame!!!!

"Why can't folks just think that Byrd is making a decision based on his set of critical thinking and has nothing to do with race or gender?"
posted by MURPHY

Isn't this the way all decisions should be made? This election has made so much more out of race and gender than we imagined was still alive in America. The MSM has been the main component of this. Everyone who votes against Obama is racist or to use his middle name is insulting, but only if it is someone on the right. It seems ok if it is someone on the left (which makes NO sense). If you vote against clinton, you are sexist.

Let me tell you liberals a secret that conservatives have been keeping from you...there is just as many racists that are liberal as conservative. Just as there are as many corrupt politicians in the democratic party as the republican party. Somehow you seem to turn a blind eye to the dems though..not quite sure why. Is it because the ends justify the means?

Asswipe, I've said it before and I'll say it again. Anytime you're up for a little challenge I'll put on a Bush/Cheney t-shirt and you can put on a Hillary Clinton t-shirt and we can go to an Aryan Nation or Klan rally.

How about it?

Yeah, that's it Pinkie. When right wingers say "Barack HUSSEIN Obama", they're not trying to imply anything, they're merely using his formal name.

Celisary, every time a black runs in the republican party blacks vote against them.

Michael Steele, Lynn Swann, and Ken Blackwell. Liberal blacks couldn't stand it if a black republican won because others might leave the democrat plantation and the white democrat slave masters wouldn't like that.

SEE YOU IN DENVER!!!

Bee Swell

How about you, Crack? Would you like to wear a Hillary Clinton t-shirt to a Klan rally? Surely if democrats are "slave masters" then you'll be welcomed with open arms.

Well, I guess this means the righty DR Klansmen will now be supporting Obama as well.

I just love it when the righties have to change their spin from clockwise to counter-clockwise in the middle of the flight. Robert Byrd is as much one of theirs as anyone in the Demo party, yet they suddenly find it necessary to reverse their adulation because he endorses the guy likeliest to pull the country out of its GOP hole. And as if they were one, the DR's entire rightie lineup announces that oh well, the grapes were probably sour anyway. herm

Rasty--the Dems have been perpetuating race into this race and the MSM. Obama is terribly out of touch--and it is not his race. He is a Markist without a doubt--His ideas on how to run this country are out of touch. He is without experience--athough Biden says he "has learned a lot since August of 2007". Well--excuse me if I don't feel the same.

But come November--folks will make decisions based on ideas and judgment and experience and character. It will also be economic and national security issues...

It won't be Obama who crosses the finish line.

Murphy

not a Black American Governor in the Country

Do you mean Black Republican Governor? Because that would be accurate. There have been three black governors. Coincidentally, some of the most "progressive" states in the Union have failed to elect a black governor.

texasliberal.wordpress.com

...Hey check that out. One of those black governors was elected in one of them there redneck racist backwood hillbilly states. That's one up on California and I think New York...well New York has a black governor now...but only because the white governor got caught with his hand in the cookie jar.

I spend my time dealing with Right Wing Pricks all the time, you don't even get to that level you fucking piglet, there was no exclamation points on my last note so FUCK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You spend your time on the internet on blogs like this typing, poorly at that, your inane banter. To which, only a few pay attention. You're going to give yourself a coronary if you don't ease up on the internet tough guy routine.

They might go a little easy on him, because at least hillary is white. If he wore an "Obama" t-shirt, we'd never find the body.

Does the Klan still have rallies? I am surrounded by some of the most backwoods bigot asshats in the south and I've never seen a cross burning anywhere. I did work with a grand dragon of the KKK once. He ran a cash register in a gas station.

Boy howdy did he hate brown people.

And when Obama loses--it won't be about race--it will be about his ideas and lack of character, judgment, and experience.

Yes--there will be folks who vote based on race--but the raqce is the secondary factor--

And when it happens--I hope that folks do not continue this as race.

Murphy

Celisary, every time a black runs in the republican party blacks vote against them.

POSTED BY CRACKPIPEJUNKIE

Black voters don't vote for black republican candidates because republican policies systematically limit social and economic opportunities for the poor, which is disproportionately black.

But you knew that, right?

One of the best ways to distract a populace is to divide it.... Political Parties are one great example of "disconnection"... a toll of Globalists.

Globalization Architects know how to move you people anyway they want. Be careful who you call your enemies - you may want them closer to you than you think?!

How is it possible that Hillary wins the state by such a huge margin and Byrd comes out for Obama?

This is actually bad for Obama because it undercuts one of the arguments the Obama supporters will need to use to keep the SDs in line: How can you vote for Clinton and override the vote of the people?

How is it that Byrd is overriding the vote of his constituents?

How is it that Byrd is overriding the vote of his constituents?

I agree, it clearly shows the democratic party in its true form and how the actual people matter very little.

The shows just how the democratic party think they are the elite of everyone.

"Just as there are as many corrupt politicians in the democratic party as the republican party."

If that is true then Democrats are just a hell of a lot smarter than Republicans cuz they sure as hell don't get caught as often.

"How is it possible that Hillary wins the state by such a huge margin and Byrd comes out for Obama?"

I realize you won't understand but SEnator Byrd expressed only his own opinion and the voters of W. Virginia are very used to Sen. Byrd doing that.
Do you really believe that W. Virginia was lined up with Sen. Byrd against the Iraq invasion??
But it turned out he was exactly right. He has judgement and the people of W. Virginia have returned him to the Senate many times because of it, not because he always agreed with their first take on issues.

After he made his announcement he was heard muttering BARBARIC!! BARBARIC!!

Ever hear the term "I am black, not stupid?"

Well...thats only partly true, if they are black, and democrat, then they are stupid. But then again, every democrat is stupid, so its not about race.

Kuma

Wow! As far as "Bad Omens" go thats the worst!!!

As one politician notes: "Senitor Byrd never met a program he didn't like". Libs love programs

From Byrd's personal philosophies of life, it would be far more 'manly' to support Obama than Hillary...he could never recognize a woman as even close to his equal...and sleep at night..!!! with 'oSama', he has at least a little hedge with the gene pool...

So unlike the the GOP of privatizing profits but socializing losses. ENOUGH OF THAT SHIT!!!

Self-retorting righty retorts run rampant!

"ONLY the democratic party could have a former ku klux klan member in it's ranks."

I was going to say that is true because the Republican's only accept current Klan members but then I remembered David Duke.

Byrd Endorse Obama because it was the smart political thing to do.

The people of WV didn't support him because they are the kind of people that would elect Byrd over and over.

People in WV are so dumb they actually amke the people in Pennsylvania and Michigan (and other rust-belt states look smart.

well, he used to play Banjo pretty well

That's the most complimentary thing I can say about Senator Byrd. He can't help getting old, and I don't make fun of him for that.

However, he's been as much as anyone, responsible for institutionalizing some horrible practices in the Senate.. he was probably the king of earmarks.

Did he come from Africa? What Part? I knw some white guys that are African. I thought you had to be 'natural born' here in the good old USA to become president.

"he used to play Banjo pretty well"

Didn't know that.
Pretty good fiddle player, though.

When it comes to Byrd, I'll never forget him rambling on about "My little dog, Billy."

That'll help Obomba with the old, white, racist voters!

"That'll help Obomba with the old, white, racist voters!"

Important observation, coming, as it does, from within that demographic.

Senator Byrd has nothing to lose. And that was actually really sweet what he said about Obama, considering it came from a former KKK member.

I think his endoresement says more about him than it does about Obama.

Maybe a man who sees his impending demise and wants to make up for past sins?

Who cares really? I've pretty much accepted the Obama candidacy at this point, for good or ill. Besides, it was getting tiring arguing with ally'all that Clinton had a right (and a duty to the millions that voted for her) to stick it out.

Sorry Corky.

But I'm really sorry for FL and MI.

Doc,

Nah, not me. I'm not old, I am white, but not a racist....However, I do know it when I see it. Obomba has three groups as his base right now:

1. Racist blacks
2. Limo-libs
3. Closet-racist whites who think that electing him will end racism in this country.

These are not numerous enough to get him elected. He needs another group....looks like he's after old racist white people...won't work, but he has to try something. He is currently unelectable...Sounds like he's got you hooked, though, Doc.....

Sieg Heil!

Ok. Now what?

Which one of those groups do you fit into, Doc?

Yes We Can!
Yes We Can!
Yes We Can!

I still can't get over how anyone without an agenda of fear and hatred can look at the state of the country and say -- we need another 4 years of a republican at the helm. It's either idiocy, or as I said, fear and hate. I once wanted to be republican, hey, I'm an individualist, a lover of the free market; but one who believes that responsibility to oneself extends to the community within which you live. I see no community in current conservatism.
I see no true individualism. I see thuggism. I see the celebration of
our basest nature and the demeaning of thought and introspection.
I see... stupid people who are proud to be stupid and an elite group of polticos and pundits who exploit that derisory desire. The current republican party is the chain that holds this nation back, a chain to a past that only existed in the smoothed over brain pleats of the easily deluded. Time to move on, or like a shark that stops swimming, die. The thugs are sharks that stopped swimming, long ago.

"Which one of those groups do you fit into, Doc?"

Sorry I can't help you out. My world's color spectrum is broader. But you keep sticking to black-and-white. It's sooooooo much simpler. Plus, you don't have to do much thinking. Bon appetite!

Doc,

But I'm not the one voting for him. Don't you know why you're voting for him? See, if you have a job, you wouldn't be, because his plans are to jack taxes way up, both on your retirement (through corporate tax hikes) as well as "rich people" income tax hikes, and a big jump in the Death Tax....So, that can't be your group...

Tell, me, you think KKK Byrd will have a nice, firelit ceremony for young Obomba if he wins? What color would the robes be?

Does this mean that Barry gets Booby's white hood when he dies?

Wonder what he'll say about the fact that Warren Buffet also endorsed Obama.

Wonder no more Miniman! I don't give a fuck who endorses a candidate -- any more than I care if a celebrity endorses shampoo.

Buffet especially. He's been a long-time Dem supporter who makes billions but pays no taxes -- ever wonder why he's a Democrat? All those expensive bureaucracies that accomplish nothing, but you pay for it, not him.

McCain v. Osama is a pathetic choice. Glad I'll be out of the country and glad that you, Miniman, have to live with the awful results.

I just replied to a spam about the Obamamama...

"Stanley Ann Dunham, was a...left-wing social activist..."

Isn't that great?

"... a full fledged radical leftist and practitioner of critical theory."

Greater yet. WHICH critical theory?

"... no evidence has yet been presented to show they were ever married.[And you know what that means]"

No. What?

" Obama ... portrayed his mother as (a) conservative girl from Kansas (but) she was a radical leftist and cutural Marxist."

So far I'm inclined to believe that thar cutural Barack.

"She ... spen(t) her teenage years in Seattle's coffee shops with other young radical leftists. Obama claims his mother's family were conservative Methodists or Baptists from Kansas. However his mother's parents were members of a left-wing Unitarian church..."

Aha! NOW I see where this is going. I re-learn every Sunday how you gotta watch out for them thar radical left-wing Unitarians.

"The church ... was nicknamed the little red church because of its communist leanings."

(One I know) is called that because it's colored red. OUR UU church leans 'cause it's almost a hundred years old, but hardly to communism. We even have a Republican in the flock.

"(His) Mercer Island High Schools was a hotbed of pro-Marxist radical teachers ... on it's staff."

I doubt that he said "it's." Indeed, I doubt very much that he used THAT phrase.

"Dunham has been described by her friends as a fellow traveler... meaning a communist sympathizer.

A Sputnik. A dirty pinko comsymp. A lily-livered traitor(ess) for sure.

"Obama referred to her as 'the dominant figure in my formative years...' She ...wanted to adopt a mixed-race Korean baby."

Gasp!!! Surely proof positive of SOMEthing. As is the minister he once had. Do you vicious swift-boaters have anything about Obama himself? herm

The right is so scared, and it is so f'n fun to watch their true worm-like selves sprout from the human facades they've been hiding in.
Sad thing is, they're so scared you don't know what drastic measures they'd take to save their false, childish and dimblefuckbrained concept of a free society. Everyday marks another day when fewer and fewer citizens fall for the BS. Not that Obama is guaranteed to win, he may lose to McCain, and then we hit rock bottom -- which I believe is guaranteed if we continue down this path -- then the right has signed their own death notice. Either way this election is a win, win from where I stand. We go for a new way, a new paradigm now, and make the sacrifices and take the time needed to reap the benefits, or we bottom out, suffer a bit and then relieve ourselves of the garbage masquerading as Patriots and allow the nation to be reborn into its ideal. It's gonna happen either way. The thugs are simply on a mission of dusty last gasps and drowning baby thrashing. Let 'em thrash.

Racism is rampant in the Democratic Party. Sen. Bryd admittedly was not only in the KKK but was a leader in the KKK and fought against the Civil Rights Act of 1964. Sen. Clinton has repeatedly played the race card saying that Obama can't win middle class WHITE votes. Sen. Obama attends church services for decades with a racism anti-American preacher.

Is this the great party that will UNITE America? Bullsh--!!!

Is this the great party that will UNITE America?

Hard to believe, isn't it? We owe it all to Republicans and Bush though. Now there's a uniter. 67% disapproval.

Tell, me, you think KKK Byrd will have a nice, firelit ceremony for young Obomba if he wins? What color would the robes be?

Some facts to cast before the Sheeple around here:

The FIRST Black Leutenant Governor elected in the USA: Oscar Dunn, LA 1868

First Black Ambassador: Ebenezer Don Carlos Bassett, 1869 - appointed by Rep President US Grant

First Black US Senator: Hiram Rhodes Revels, MISS 1870

First Black Congressman: Joseph Rainey, Rep SC 1870

First Black Governor: P B S Pinchback, Rep LA 1872

First Black VP candidate: Fredrick Douglass, Equal Rights Party 1872

Second Black Congressman (First post reconstruction): Oscar Stanton de Priest, Rep IL 1928

First Black Congressman elected as a DEMOCRAT:
Arthur W. Michell, IL 1934 (about 64 years AFTER the first Black Republican Rep)

Second Black VP candidate: James W. Ford, Communist Party of the USA 1932

Second Black US Senator: Edward Brooke, MA 1966

Second Black Dem Congressional Rep: Shirley Chisholm, NY 1968

Since then there have been Blacks elected and appointed to high offices in both the Democrat and Republican Parties such as several Dem Governors, Dem and Rep Judges and Justices, members of the President's cabinet, etc.

Bottom line is that the Republican Party was the first to have Black Senators, Congressional Reps and Governors, both during Reconstruction and post Reconstruction.

The Dem and Rep parties effectively changed sides back in the sixties over the whole civil rights thing. All the stupid rednecks and KlanKlowns moved to the Republican tent and everyone that was a Republican left in horror and turned Democrat.

So, in effect, you just listed examples for what is now the Democratic party. Take a look at Lincoln and Douglas (study their writings, read the debates). By any measure, Lincoln would be a Democrat today and Douglas solidly in the Rtard fold.

Rush the boy-buggering-bastard needs to feed his parrots a little more up to date info. They just keep embarrassing themselves in public.

Axe, I know you would like to hide your democrat shame over its involvement with the KKK but claiming that Lincoln would be a democrat is just too much. Even the other fucktard liberals here aren't willing to stretch their asses that far.

Lincoln wouldn't have freed the slaves if it would have kept the union together.

Freedom is a liberal concept--not a republican or a democratic concept--not a leftist or a rightis concept. Liberals are none of those. Lincoln was a republican who put through a liberal concept for political reasons. Freedom for slaves was not a central issue for lincoln or republicans or democrats--freedom for slaves would have been a central issue for a liberal.

Buffalo Bob, its your opinion that Lincoln would not have freed the slaves. He was the first to offer a bill in congress to outlaw slavery in D.C. That bill was offered in 1844.

Bee Swell

Axe,

YOU are the one who was sleeping through history classes. I've forgotten more history than you'll ever know.

The statement was that Republicans never had a Senator or Governor. The statement was false.

The fact that at one time Democrats defended State's Rights while Republicans wanted Federal control means nothing other than if you believe in Central Government in 1860 you may be a Republican while in 1960 you may be a Democrat (maybe, since NO Party is uniform in its beliefs). There are radical righists and leftists in both Parties.

Lincoln probably would'nt be a Democrat today since he is'nt what you think he is. His image as a poor sod farmer is a myth.

Lincoln was a corporate lawyer for the Illinois Central Railroad. In todays currency he was a multimillionaire.

His freeing of the slaves was not because of belief in the equality of man. He ONLY freed slaves in Confederate states in hopes that they would rise up in rebellion against the Confederate Army. It didn't work.

Abraham Lincoln's father HUNTED escaped slaves for a living. His wife's family owned slaves. His two Brothers-in-Law fought for the Confederacy.

His views on Blacks:
"I have no purpose to introduce political and social equality between the white and black races. There is a physical difference between the two, which, in my judgment, will probably forever forbid their living together upon the footing of perfect equality; and inasmuch as it becomes a necessity that there must be a difference."

"I am in favor of the race to which I belong having the superior position."

"My paramount object in this struggle is to save the Union, and is not either to save or to destroy slavery. If I could save the Union without freeing any slave, I would do it; and if I could save it by freeing all the slaves, I would do it; and if I could do it by freeing some and leaving others alone, I would also do that."

"Your race suffers greatly, many of them by living among us, while ours suffers from your presence. If this is admitted, it affords a reason why we should be separated."

His proposed amendments to the Constitution:
1. Federal compensation provided for states agreeing to abolish slavery by January 1, 1900.

2. Frees slaves who "enjoyed actual freedom by the chances of war" before "the end of the rebellion."

3. Congress authorized to provide for colonization OUTSIDE of the United States of free blacks by their own consent.

The last was partially implemented in the form of the Nation of Liberia, which is why its capital is named Monrocia (after James Monroe) and its flag is one white star on a blue field in the upper corner and eleven red (6) and white (5) stripes (signifying the eleven sinatories of the Liberian Declaration of Independence).
