Drudge Retort: Red Meat for Yellow Dogs

The federal government's long-term financial obligations grew by $2.5 trillion last year, a reflection of the mushrooming cost of Medicare and Social Security benefits as more baby boomers reach retirement.

That's double the red ink of a year earlier.

Where's Obama gonna get the money to pay for all the bullshit social programs that the democrats started?

The democrats have been raiding social security since it started and now their chickens have came home to roost!

Bee Swell

Now Hillary and Obama want to make Health Care an entitlement.

It will end when the country is completely bankrupt.

These democrats are the blame for this mess and the people are the ones who are gonna suffer.

SEE YOU IN DENVER!

Bee Swell

With all the bitching and crying about the cost of the war and gas prices I don't hear a fucking peep out of shit eating liberals about the clusterfuck social programs they started and the financial destruction they are doing to our country!

Bee Swell

"Taxpayers are on the hook for a record $57.3 trillion in federal liabilities to cover the lifetime benefits of everyone eligible for Medicare, Social Security and other government programs, a USA TODAY analysis found. That's nearly $500,000 per household."

This is all that needs to be said. If individuals had more control over their own social security and health care they wouldn't be forced into government dependency and would be more fiscally sound.

All we need is to be turned into another Canada.

Fuck off, crackpipemoron.

Didn't Canada's dollar just pass us by? Oh, and apparently you don't know how often people in northern states make a little jump across the border because of the CHEAPER BETTER HEALTHCARE, while our FDA, which of course isn't affected by lobbyists (lol) refuses to allow Canadian drugs because we don't know how safe they are. Yeah. Look up heparin right now, that's the kind of quality we import. Quality first.

Maybe if we fixed healthcare and stopped spending the greatest amount of money of any civilized nation on prison and military industrial complexes we would have a chance at making sure our sick, weak and elderly had a shot at decent healthcare and a secure retirement.

Nope, you won't hear a liberal screaming about those costs - at least they're spent on a legitimate goal.

I have to laugh my ass off whenever a moron feels obligated to spam his own blog post.

Keep up the good work.

Enough already. Anytime I see "CorkPipePoleSmoker" I just know it's crap.

Jomama, just doing my job of setting the record straight about the democrat party and the destruction they have caused this country.

I just hope its not too late.

No interest in this topic. The sheep rather talk about the Punch and Judy show, otherwise known as a national election. Do they prefer a black wolf or a white wolf? They want the wolf that makes them feel the most safe.

Yeah, it has nothing to do with the money we're spending on a bullshit war.

Nothing at all.

If Bush hadn't taken money out of social security and medicare--money that the people put in, not the government--there wouldn't be any problems.

I know I mentioned this yesterday but its still true. Boob, you are an idiot.

Medicare is the biggest obligation of all. Probably why we won't go to a single-payer system, although I suspect a lot of people would willingly pay more in taxes for an easier and fairer health insurance. But then, there will always be a virulently angry minority opposed to anything like that.

If the US population continues to grow naturally, and if the new generations remain at least as innovative and relatively productive as past generations had been, then the federal obligations should be offset by rising economic standards and increased incomes and wealth. If, however, these next generations are less productive or if the number of taxpayers in the newer generations shrinks then there is a problem that the obligation will get too top heavy to sustain.

Europe and Japan are facing such a topsy-turvy situation in their social safety net. So far the EU and Japan look as if will have to deal with all of these issues sooner than the USA. Let's see how thay grapple with the social obligations cast before them.

If Bush hadn't taken money out of social security and medicare--money that the people put in, not the government--there wouldn't be any problems

Come on Bob. Even you don't believe that. Both parties have been using it as a cash cow since they started it. That's the reason they started it in the first place. Other wise it would not go straight into the general fund.

Crack-most of that debt was set under three Republican Presidents Reagan, and the Bushes. Clinton was running a surplus when he left Office.

So what you're really saying is, Republicans are morons?

Old news, dude.

Well said Crackwhorejunkie! We need to get rid of those crappy programs that help people live so we can afford more that kill people!

Preach it sistah!

Vote GOP in November... kill social programs and Iranians in one fell swoop!

......Republicans had 8 years to fix the "Dem" problems.........

........what happened ?........

........too busy bum-fucking the congressional pages to get anything done.........

Cost of war per year estimated at $720 million per day, according to washington post.

Total: $2.62 Trillion

Total Cost of Social Programs: 2.24 Trillion

Just completely fucking disgusting on soo many levels.

The people put their money into the social programs--not the government--the government took the money out of social programs for war.

It's like a kid works a paper route all his life for college, then dad takes the money for his motorcycle gang. When the bill collectors come they say--well look here, you're spending way too much on college.

Buffalo Bob, the money was being taken out of social security for social programs long before the war came along. Guess who had control of the house of represenatives for 40 years and was raiding social security the whole time?

Bee Swell

SOCIAL SECURITY HAS BECOME A POLITICAL FOOTBALL....SOON SO WILL YOUR HEALTHCARE

The people put their money into the social programs--not the government--the government took the money out of social programs for war.

The federal government has been doing that from the first day Roosevelt signed the bill into law. It never was an insurance program for that very reason. It's an old age welfare program sold as an insurance program. There isn't a chance in hell to save it from its inevitable demise. You get the government you pay for - good and hard.
