Drudge Retort: Red Meat for Yellow Dogs

Eleven months after a cable on the Superman Tower of Power ride at Six Flags Kentucky Kingdom in Louisville severed her feet, Kaitlyn Lasitter, 14, lobbied Congress to begin regulating rides at amusements parks such as Six Flags, Kings Island and Disney World.

Sissy.

I wonder if the federal regulations will be looser than the parks' current standards, offering them an excuse to just get by.

Loose, Foot Loose, took off my feet and shoes. Pulease, Louise, I just lost my piggies...

Sincerely,
Opie and Anthony

Way to keeep those parks on their to-, er, put your best foot for-, uh, show them the meaning of defea-, uh, good show!

Fucking commie. Let the free market decide. Enough people die, lose body parts and pretty soon people will stop going there. Unless of course that damn librul media is silenced so no one reports the deaths and maimings.

Elect McLame and you get your wish!

I thought you'd like it better when women had no feet.
Makes it so much harder for them to run away from you. (grin)

It's hard to believe this was 11 months ago already.

Just like the DR to kick someone when they're down. To their shins.

Damn guys..

You cannot judge or joke about something like this until you have walked a mile in their shoes...................

shit!

could not resist.

She's a 14 year old girl, guys.

She's be barefoot and preggers at Oz's house, er, cabin.

I feel bad for the girl but Federal regulation of themes parks is not the answer. All the feds will do is make the rides less fun. If there is evidence of negligent maintenance of a ride which causes serious injury sue the pants off the theme park owners.

Concur.
Sometimes stuff just breaks, too.

1,800,000,000 safe rides

18,776 injuries

This is really a problem?

But the really damning part...

"Fixed-site rides at amusements parks such as Six Flags, Kings Island and Disney World are not subject to federal regulation, even though rides at a traveling carnival or a church festival are."

Seriously? Rides at Disney World should be as fun and safe as rides at your local carnival? Those things are insanely deadly and even the best are horibly boring, atempts to make you vomit with the jerky movements. If that is federal regulation I will take Disney and my risk any day!

As a father who has taken his two daughters to Kentucky Kingdom, I wouldn't mind a little extra assurance that the rides pass some sort of national safety standard. It doesn't mean the rides have to be less fun -- just that they won't, you know, cut my kids' feet off.

Anything the gov't does they seem to f'up....

so cbob...I get the feeling if the gov't is involved the likelihood of your daughter needing prosthetic feet goes up if they are involved and not down.

You're in a lot more danger driving to a park than you ever will be on the rides. Get you priorities straight.
