Drudge Retort: Red Meat for Yellow Dogs

Ten years ago, Michael Roach and Christie McNally, Buddhist teachers with a growing following in the United States and abroad, took vows never to separate, night or day. By "never part," they did not mean only their hearts or spirits. They meant their bodies as well. And they gave themselves a range of about 15 feet.

Sounds like 101Chairborne and his vibrator...

In times like these, I'm reminded of a song.

They actually seem to be pretty centered.

15 fett?

They should get some type of device that zaps them with electricity or something if they ever violate taht 15 feet rule. Now that would be fun.

Fine Young Cannibals - She Drives me Crazy

Well, that would apply to all couples, not just this one.

Hope they do all their shopping online.

Fucking kill me now!I need a weekend alone from the wife (and she is really easy going) once a month....

What about trips to the dentist? Follow each other into the exam rooms?

What if the public bathroom stall is 15 feet away from the entrance?

When I read the headline, before reading the story, I was thinking, "Oh no, did one of them die or something?"

What if one of them dies, is the other one burried along?

How about this
www.innotek.net
just put the sensors in thier pockets ;)

HanoverFist , lol! That would do the trick!

How fucking ignorant. Someone needs to fit the word "moderation" into their vocabulary

And celibate?!?

www.youtube.com

What's the point of putting the "office" 100 yards away?

They meant their bodies as well. And they gave themselves a range of about 15 feet.

I guess the members of this religion will last as long as the celibate members
of the Protestant denomination of the Shaker religion. In 2006 only four members of the Shaker religion were left.

I know of no one in the entire world that I could stand to have within 15 feet from me at all times -- day and night -- especially if they talked alot. It would drive me nuts not to have my own space.

Unfortunately they're not Hindus. Then since the man has a shorter life expectancy, they could demonstrate the strength of their endearment by the surviving (for a short time) woman, performing the ritual acts of sati (suttee).

But Buddhists share some ideas with Hindus. Hmm. Build that pyre.

Self-immolation is for the enlightened. They probably can't live without each other. What a remarkable degree of codependency.

Amazing.

This article has been up for about 3 hours and no one has labeled the Buddhists discussed in it "religious nuts," "fundamentalists," or "whackos."

Man, some of you are losing it.

Alright, Anton, just to make you happy --

What a bunch of wacko, religious fundamentalist, rapture-happy,
lemming-like cultists these Buddists are.

Okay now?

I'm all smiles now.

it sounds like they don't trust each other.

all the best

Plus, if you read the article, the two of them are not supposed to do these things.. you cannot be a Buddhist Monk and have a female companion unless you are very very VERY special. And the Dalai Lama says he is not, therefore he is not.

Why is it always douchebag hippies seek out Eastern enlightenment... and then proceed to ignore it once they find it and become part of it? Why did they come to Eastern religion in the first place? They didn't like the rules of Western ones. What, Eastern religions have rules also? "Bummer, man! That Dalai Lama is a real drag. We white people who've been Buddhists for a whole 20 years know oh so much better then him. He's stupid, man."

Coming from a white guy claiming Shintoism.. for only the last 20 years.. I realize it would kinda look like I'm calling the kettle black here. I, however, don't pick and choose my own rules or go around saying the Emperor is an idiot.

That is funny. My wife and I had a conversation about this very thing a few days ago. I wonder how many people who are fashionably Buddhist (or some other eastern religion) realize that eastern religions aren't just a combination of hedonism and yoga. In many ways eastern religions can be just as austere, if not more so, than western religions (presumably because they are western).
