Drudge Retort: Red Meat for Yellow Dogs

Former Sen. John Edwards is endorsing Sen. Barack Obama's presidential candidacy Wednesday evening, in a dramatic attempt by the Obama campaign to answer concerns regarding Obama's appeal to working-class voters, several senior Democratic sources tell ABC News.

Taxman, cool, you just beat me with this good news!

Very exciting news and it should help Obama a little in KY. It would have helped in WV had Edwards endorsed him on Monday.

Good for him finally doing this

Obama was going to lose West Virginia big even with Edwards. It was smarter to wait until after that loss to use the Edwards nomination to one-up that bit of news (assuming it was already in the bag before Tuesday).

I like the looks of an Obama-Edwards ticket, although Jim Webb of VA and of course Billary are just as viable VP candidates.

Edwards doesn't count.

**Corky

Obama-Edwards has the stink of 2004 all over it. As much as I like Edwards, I don't think he's viable as a veep candidate.

I think it should be Obama-101chairborne that way 101 can reachimify all those disallusinisted republicans.

oh...and 101 has a military record of fine conduct and lots of pretty medals.

Kelloggs called; they want those medals back!

I don't think this is a good time for someone like Obama to be teaming up with someone like Edwards. I think Obama needs to pick someone with gravitas and some sort of military credentials. I have a lot of respect for Edwards, but I don't think he's a good choice for Obama.

Ha-ha!

Well, I didn't think it was possible to be any more disappointed in how this election season was going, but if Edwards is going to cheese over to Obama's side so's he can be Veep, then that hits a new low.

There is no fucking way Edwards and Obama can be a viable pair. The New Guy and the New Haircut.

Ach. SOTCH cred-uh-billidy!

Who is this gal on MSLSD with Chris?

She is going to scream--"YES YES YES! at any second!

Edwards does not bring anything to the table for Obama as a VP pick.

No State, no military experience--no experience really in anything. He can't help with the white voters since recism was brought into the race by Wright.

They don't even agree on most issues.

He does have pretty hair though.

Murphy

"I think Obama needs to pick someone with gravitas and some sort of military credentials."

That will be after he becomes the "presumptive nominee" - in other words, after Clinto finally bows out.

Masterful.

Tonight the pundits won't be talking about West Virginia anymore, but rather Grand Rapids.

Also this was done around the time most people watch the news.

Those who don't take obama seriously do so at their own peril. This was very well executed and very well timed.

Member - you are absolutely correct, this was perfectly executed, I mean just down right perfectly done, there could not have been a more perfect execution, when the media should have been talking about the big Clinton win they are totally overshadowed by this endorsement. Man, it continues to impress me how damn good this campaign is, I mean really. Whatever you think about the candidate you have to be impressed by the way his campaign has been run, it is about flawless. It tells you alot about the people that he gathers to him. They are smart, they are very smart, and they know how to play the game.

But the candidate is flawed to the tenth degree.

I can't wait for the debates and for the folks to really see how left this guy is. It's worse!

Wright and Ayers are only the tip of the iceberg.

How hard is it to schedule this ??

Some folks give him way to much credit.

Murphy

Will John switch to Afro-_Sheen or will Michelle insist that the Cracker sticks with Brylcreem?

Seriously, this is like a bad Broadway Play. Hillary wins big on Tuesday, and Obammy holds this stupid fucking announcement of in all palces, Michigan. Maybe Fidel Castro will endorse him on Thursday in Miami.

Murph - put a beer in the fridge, leave it there. Take it out in January 09 while you are watching the inauguration. It should be Really cold by then. Personally I am pretty sure I will be crying buckets when Barack put his hand on the bible and takes the oath, in front of the largest crowd ever to flood the mall for an inauguration. "We are the people we have been waiting for"

yawn...oh, yeah, you mean the Edwards who couldn't even win his home state in 2004?
McCain in November is the winner...can't wait to see what you Obamabots will do then.

Edwards may be our next attorney general. Common sense dictates drafting (if necessary) Hillary as veep. That ticket should sweep 47 states. herm

hillary as veep will still lose the democratic vote.

I for one will cross. hillary is out, no ifs ands or buts.

HERM - NO, NO AND DAMN NO, Hillary as VP it the surest way to ensure a bullet in Barack's head on inauguration day, damn NO! Do not underestimate this woman, she will KILL to ensure her rise to the post that she believes is hers.

"yawn...oh, yeah, you mean the Edwards who couldn't even win his home state in 2004?
McCain in November is the winner...can't wait to see what you Obamabots will do then.

Obama/Biden '08.

Edwards fer AG.

This is a good call by Edwards and as the blog-god sez it's good timing as well.

Common sense dictates drafting (if necessary) Hillary as veep.

The so-called Dream Team is really a nightmare.

Nobody will believe that she isn't running the show behind the curtain a'la Cheney wif Dumbya and GHW Bush during the Raygun Daze.

Besides she wouldn't take the bottom bunk on a bet.

Hillary wants it All and will end up with Nothing.

Edwards made some good,, neccessary and serious points during his campaign but unfortunately he was unable to connect with folks righeous indignation and mostly ended up bumming folks out.

He will make a fine AG charged with the task of purging "loyal Bushies" from the now highly politicised office, restoring competent USA's in place of the bent melon farmers installed by BushCo and, hopefully, firing anyone who graduated from the Regent School of Gud Lurnin' from any office in DC.

Maybe he'll even end up throwing BushCo in jail fer destroying the servers that woulda proved their complicity in the multiple DoJ scandals.

Mmmm. That'd be nice, eh.

Spud knew somebody woulda already posted the good news here.

You guys RAWK!

Be Well.

/not really here.

*YAWN*

So the Breck girl decided. Guess the salon was closed.

McCain in November

Nephew, puh-lease.

Both Shrillary and Obama beat McLame handily in November even now and to date he's been getting a free pass while the Dem Nom plays out.

Once his little vacation comes to an end and folks start really looking at the man as opposed to the largely fabricated myth it will become increasingly obvious that he is more of the same old shit in a different, leathery package.

John McLame is no war hero.

John McSame is no leader.

John McAncient aint fit to serve both mentally and physically.

John McTaint is the last survivor of the Keating 5 and his scandals are not as well hidden as he'd like.

Essentially, he's a raging, philandering, gold-digging, moronic, pandering, foul mouthed, inauthentic piece of shit who's too beholden to the worst element of the rethuglycan party.

He aint the real deal.

G08ama.

Be Well.

No Hillary for VP. Colin Powell is the man!!!

*YAWN*

Yeah Edwards endorses 0 (that's a zero folks) big frigging deal all the wannabes jumping aboard hoping for a piece of the pie come January. Last thing we need besides 0 being Prez is a shyster like Edwards as AG.

Last thing we need besides 0 being Prez is a shyster like Edwards as AG.

So GWB Is..........?

-Sarge

If he does choose Clinton for VP, there will be a huge swell of support. The Clintonistas are hard core, as are the Obamamaniacs. Those people will vote, and vote in droves.

LitBrit--You do the same when McCain wins it!

As for Spud--

You are an animal and detest patriotism for our country.

It's ok--you are a Canuck..

McCain is a true war hero--

He is a leader--

He was vindicated in the Keating 5--

And I am sure McCain will not hold his oppenents age of 47 against Obama..his lack of character, lack of experience, lack of judgment--lack of a a suit!

You have obviously missed the American view of Racism--Introduced by Wright.

And the Ayres relationship that he is friendly with--

And Farrakhan--wait for that to break--out big time!

And Rezko--scumbag--another great friend!!

and Mr. Elitist..Obama's own words!

He won't win the electoral college which is what counts here in KKKAmerica..

It will be a slight landslide in McCain's favor.

Murphy

inauthentic piece of shit

A little harsh, perhaps.

But incredibly accurate.

In a different time, he would been called queer as a three dollar bill.

Edwards sells his soul for to the company store in hopes of a VP slot. Did anyone expect any different.

Lets see two lawyers on one ticket. The trial lawyers of america are loving this one. Lets see, Obama said he wanted someone who knew things. Well Edwards knows how to make a frivilous lawsuit omelette.

This is really what we need two rich lawyers one who can't make ends meet on $500,000 dollars a year and another who complains about the homeless while living in a 28,000 square foot home and still not inviting any of these homeless to come stay with him.

Bee Swell

Murphy

Spud's 8:58 was full of truths.

When the media quits coddling this doddering old fool, you may begin to see him as he is.

Or maybe you're just a big fan of Lieberman but don't wanna say so.

Last thing we need besides 0 being Prez is a shyster like Edwards as AG.

Please. After gonzales a blow up doll could bring credibility to the AG position.

Posted by MURPHY at 2008-05-14 10:15 PM

I can't improve upon that.

He was vindicated in the Keating 5--

Hardly.

We're gonna hear a lot more about how McCain obstructed justice and took payoffs from his felon friends. There are a whole crop of voters that need to be given a history lesson on the savings and loan scandal and believe me the PACs will make sure they are.

This alone could crush McCain.

Ted--Actually I did vote for Gore/Lieberman in 2000.

But I digress...

Obama is not going to win for all the reasons stated above.

And it is a grand ol' ride to the finish line--isn't it!!??

Murphy

On that we can certainly agree.

It's too bad you are so WRONG.

A president (HA!) who has a HUGE financial interest in this war and whose family does business with the family of Osama Bin laden....NO BIG DEAL!!!

McCain is a true war hero--

Being a shitty pilot and then squealing to the enemy is your definition of a hero?

Damn! You're easily impressed.

NARAL Pro-Choice America backs Obama

ap.google.com

This is WAR!

Until now commentators had remarked that Obama was trying to be a nice guy, trying not to embarras Hillary and alienate her supporter, but today the Obama campaign declared WAR on the Clinton campaign. Not only did he get a few more delegates, but also a pro-choice group backs him. Obama need not be afraid to walk on eggshells, Hillary's supporters will understand that Hillary came in second and won't vote for McCain who might appoint pro-life SCOTUS judges.

The Edwards endorsement has the potential to erase Hillary's delegate gain yesterday. Edwards has 18 delegates. If 12 of them decide to vote for Obama (they can't be forced to do so) her delegate gain from yesterday's huge win is wiped out.

IT'S WAR.

No more Mr Nice Guy.

DAMN..HILLARY IS GOING TO GO HOME AND BAKE COOKIES..

BADAOPHAY , ROTFLMAO! FF!

Since when is Hillary so conservative anyways? People forget about the baking-cookiegate controversy already. Back then thos same working people who now apparently adore her probably though she was some radical femenist marxist or something.

Of all the democratic candidates, I can't think of any that disgust me more than Edwards. A trial lawyer that made millions suing the medical industry is a sleaze bag.

Maybe among die hard dems his endorsement means something, but its hard to imagine why, especially given that he waited until he was sure obama had it tied up before committing himself.

When the American people are informed of the McBush record of voting AGAINST veterans benefits and the new GI Bill, they will know his mantra "I support the troops" means he supports them as long as they are dying for their country, but if they survive--Fuck them.

Edwards was obviously hitting on both Clinton and Obama for a cabinet position.

My guess is Clinton wouldn't commit while Obama has been handing out promises like lollypops.

Edwards may find himself on the outside looking in.

Fox News reported a rumor that Clinton has a real bombshell she's going to drop on Obama prior to the convention.

I can't imagine what it could be but if it's a dud, she's going to look really, really bad.

Yes, the medical industry never screwed people over. They are perfect angels, and our great country apparently has a joke of a legal system according to you, so maybe you're saying this country is shitty? Why do you hate our country?

Colin Powell for VP!!!

Thats a thin reed to hang your hat on. Those only matter to democrats when a republican has those credentials and vice versa.

Those who don't take obama seriously do so at their own peril.
Posted by member2586

What is that supposed to mean?

"Fox News reported a rumor that Clinton has a real bombshell she's going to drop on Obama prior to the convention."

Sorry, but when you have a real source for your nasty rumor Twin Pack then you can spread it around but thing is if she had the ammunition she would have used it in NC.

DANNI

That's why I used the source in my post. People can decide for themselves about the credibility of FOX.

Additionally, this rumor has been around since the start of the primary and the source was the Clinton campaign itself. I would hate to see something like this come into play but the fact is, Obama is naive and the Clintons are a lean, mean fighting machine.

If the Clintons have anything that will rock the superdelegates to their core, the most opportune time would be after the MI/FL delegate issue has been resolved and before the convention.

It won't be long before we know.

Twin,

I've been saying it for over 2 months now - in the general, Hillary is more formidable than Obama, particularly when matched up with McCain.

I think McCain kicks the living shit out of Obama and he loses to Hillary.

JEFFJ

Personally I think that a Charlie Brown/Snoopy ticket could beat McCain but I also think Obama will come out of it bloody mess once the neo-cons get hold of him.

It might be good for his learning curve, come to think of it.

There's not a doubt in my mind that Hillary could put the neo-cons away for good. And I do mean FOR GOOD. Obama, on the other hand, is way too touchy-feely and inexperienced. He's likely to open the door for the neo-cons to come back in 2012.

That would be my greatest concern.

Obama/Biden '08.

Now you're talking. But I suspect that Biden isn't viewed by the public at large the way I view him -- as one of the strongest and most experienced leaders on foreign policy the Democrats have had in years.

I could see him getting a Secretary of State nod, but I'd be stunned if Obama chose him to be veep.

TWINPAC if the Clintons actually do have something on Obama and have held it to strategically break that news it shows just how unethical they are and I would consider not voting for her if she then became the nominee.

Some people have a destiny. They realize it when they are young and then they concentrate their efforts to finally arrive at that destination.
I think John Edward's destiny is to be vice president. His whole life has prepared him to be second banana waiting for the unspeakable and ready to answer the phone at 3 a.m.

RCade,

Biden is one of the few Dems your party could have nominated that I could actually vote for, despite being opposed to him on just about every policy issue.

He's a bit of an obnoxious jackass, but he's also brilliant and very qualified (experienced) to be POTUS. Unfortunately, your party prefers a guy who views POTUS as an entry level position.

DANNI

As far as I'm concerned, it would depend on whether or not an allegation is true.

I can understand why one Democratic nominee would not want to use it on another Democratic nominee unless it was absolutely necessary.

I have every intention of voting for Obama if he's the nominee but I'd like to do it without crossing my fingers behind my back.

I'm also keeping in mind that four years of an Obama presidency is nothing more than a speed bump to the neo-cons and they're probably already plotting an easy comeback in 2012.

That's where the danger lies . . . 2012 not 2008.

I like Biden too. Sure he's got some polar opposite views (compared to me), but he's candid, and very entertaining.

Biden for VP!

RCADE

Agreed about Joe Biden.

I was thrilled when he threw his hat in the ring. I wanted to go throw myself at his feet.

Too bad he wasn't more serious.

Twin,

Agreed about Joe Biden.

I was thrilled when he threw his hat in the ring. I wanted to go throw myself at his feet.

That sounded dangerously close to: "I wanted to drop to my knees...."

Be careful with your wording in these parts, my friend.

JEFFJ

Thanks, but no one would ever think that about me.

And I don't do flame wars so if anybody has something to say, the hell with them. I just sort of graze over top of them.

LOL

"That's where the danger lies . . . 2012 not 2008."

Not if the next presdient declassifies documents and reveals the corruption and treason which is rampant within the present administration. Many of the neocons will be lucky to avoid prison and/or extradition to either a world tribunal or a foreign court for war crimes and crimes against humanity.
Prosecution should be priority numero uno considering the danger of their return to power.

Thanks, but no one would ever think that about me.

You're a woman, right?

Anyways, my point is within the context of the old-days of DR - Nasty shit!

JEFFJ

You're a woman, right?

I've been on this site since May 25, 2005 and no one has ever been able to figure that out.

Depending on where one has their mind, "Twinpac" could refer to a man's genitilia or a woman's breasts.

Or it could refer to a double pack of toothpaste that was sitting on my dresser.

It's a secret I'll take to my grave. LOL

DANNI:

From your keyboard to God's eyes.

Would that it could be so.

I've been waiting but so far I haven't heard any candidate push that issue. I think they all belong to the same club and to tar one is to tar them all. The money might stop rolling in.

Sort of like the way televangelist think when it comes to policing their own.

woman's breasts.

What the hell is with democrats and their willingness to suck off their party candidates?

Biden was the only Dem I could have voted for, because he seemed to want to leave Iraq in a more responsible way than just cutting the running.

Seems other righties agree; maybe Biden as VP would be a strong choice after all in softening up the opposition.

101

I never said I was a woman but I did say that I live at a nudist resort in Florida.

That was a long time ago. I'm surprised you remembered.

BTW, men outnumber women about 10 to 1 at this particular resort.

And no, I'm not in my 50's. But I am white, educated, self-employed and drive a pickup truck.

I'm surprised you remembered.

Of course I remembered. I pretended to be outraged.

Imagine how I felt when I found out there weren't any nymphs prancing through the pine trees.

And that was AFTER I signed the lease.

No matter who finally wins the Democratic nomination, we're going to have to decide which of the two Democrats should be elected to the White House, the one with the "D" or the one with the "R" next to their names.

knock off the even mention of it, hillary is bad for this country.
