Drudge Retort: Red Meat for Yellow Dogs

The Detroit City Council has taken the first step toward removing Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick over a scandal involving explicit text messages to his former aide. Kilpatrick and former Chief of Staff Christine Beatty have been charged with perjury, misconduct in office and obstruction of justice. Excerpts of sexually explicit text messages between the mayor and Beatty were published in January by the Detroit Free Press after the pair denied having a romantic relationship in sworn testimony at a civil trial.

GOOD!

Give this corrupt POS the big boot!

Agreed, Common. I just wonder why it took this long?

BUH BYE

Is that whore-monger Vitter still a Senator?

nuke Detroit from orbit

it's the only way to be sure

Seems they didn't mention his party, must republican. Oh well, get rid of him.

For the record Snip--he is a Dem.

He should step down for the good of the city and save the taxpayers a million dollars plus trying to remove him.

He has not more power or influence--he should leave--but like many Dems in power--they are entitled to stay because he thinks so...

Vitter is still a Senator and up for re election--we'll have to see how the voters decide.

The Senate can't do anything to him becuse when he had his tryst--he was in the House. The House can't do anything because he is no longer in the House but in the Senate.

Murphy

Once, dring through Detroit on I-75 I took a wrong turn and ended up on Gratiot Avenue, right in the middle of Black town. It was more foreign to me than any third world country that I have ever visited. It made the East side of Cleveland, East St. Louis, and South Chicago look friendly and safe.

Can any of you libs explain this, other than blaming Bush or the WHITE MAN.

Detroit (according to Liberal Dogma) SHOULD be a utopia:

1. No racism (no white people)
2. No corporate greed (businesses are bailing)
3. Affordable housing (hellish neighborhoods paid for with tax dollars)
4. Nurishment for everyone (food stamps the currency of the day)
5. Free education (Cornelius, Kanisha & Tyrone can't read their govenrment diplomas)
6. Diverse leadership (Black corruption rampant)

I'm sure everyone is looking forward to liberals taking over the executive and legislative branches of government.

I went to school with him at FAMU and even I wish he would leave...

If you're so worried about it, why aren't you questiong why it didn't get any better under the Cheerleader-In-Chief?

You seemed worried that it will somehow get worse under dem control, yet it didn't seem to get any better under with repubs controlling everything.

Hack.

There's no great riddle to solve here. It's rather straightforward.

It's a dying city due to the car companies deciding the Mexicans should be assembling cars in their homeland.

City Council isn't quite stepping up to the plate...

And dean-if you want to win Bush's wars, vote for the democrat because republicans haven't won a war since the Civil war. Clinton won both of his.

If you're worried about the deficit and debt-most of the national debt was created under three men-Reagan Bush and Bush.

Exactly.

I, rubato: Detroit Symphony led by robot

ap.google.com

Maybe Detroit should get a robot to be mayor. If it works for the Symphony, why not city government?

I was working in Detroit when the election happened and I followed this asshole's progress. Everybody knew he was gonna get elected even though there were some serious people on the ballot. It was a joke around the office to see how the blacks would justify electing someone so completely unqualified.

They didn't even try to justify it, they just said things like, 'we're gonna take Detroit back'.

The unions kiled the car companies.

While you losers sit around here and whine about how unfair life is (yet do noting about it), I will be on the links enjoying my retirement.

How this happened should be a case study in political science classes...

Kilpatric embraced the downtrodden and told them that they were useless and uncared for, always were useless and uncared for, and always would be.

He also told them that they should vote for him because at least he told them the truth. This tactic sparked a lot of interest in his candidacy from a faction that had actually NEVER voted before.

Add to it the fact that he tossed in a bit of racism ('taking the city back from the white man!' - although Detroit hasn't had white political influence in over 45 years) and he had a winning election bid.

In essence, he was able to win the office by courting the apathetic vote.

Why do suppose that happened?

Might it be that Detroit wasn't competitive anymore? And there are many reasons for that.

Might it be that Detroit wasn't competitive anymore? And there are many reasons for that.

Living wages and environmental and health and safety laws will do that.

Kwame uses the right side of his brain as Rev Wright explained at his NAACP meeting a week or so ago. The rigt (or Wright) side is the hippin', hoppin' and hoein' side while the left brain is the reading, writing and aritmetic side. Which side are you on?
