Drudge Retort: Red Meat for Yellow Dogs

John McCain broke with the Bush administration and Republican Party orthodoxy Monday as he not only declared global warming real, but reached out to Democrats and independents with a free-market solution that includes capping carbon-fuel emissions. "I will not shirk the mantle of leadership that the United States bears," he said. "I will not permit eight long years to pass without serious action on serious challenges. I will not accept the same dead-end of failed diplomacy that claimed Kyoto."

damned liberal bastard.

there's never a neocon around when you need one.

the original title of the article linked to is from the liberal new york times, "mcCain differs with bush on climate change"
airsbusto has the title closer to the truth and will start at fox a week from friday.

all the best.

RE: McCain Buys Into Gore Scam...
OH GREAT!!! He doesn't have enough against him..
I WANT a "DO-OVER" !!! Can we start all over again ???

I think he is losing his bearings.

What is wrong with this guy. Doesn't he know that science is a liberal plot to destroy religion and moral values??? If Global Warming was real it would be in the Bible.

Take heed, global warming alarmists. This is one of the biggest examples of how global warming is nothing but a political football, used for political expediency. You are being handed one of the biggest dupes in the history of man kind and you are swallowing it whole.

Well, if there were ever a case of pandering, this is it. Utter nonsense. He'll look stupid on this one along with the Greenies this time next year.

I suppose he could claim senility.

Not too big a break -even Bush acknowledged it is real and offers the same market driven voluntary non-solutions.

In fairness, John did recognize the importance of climate change long before the Bushies.

yay, the neocon shows his true colors.

Further proof that the top GOP are pandering liberal democrats in disguise... This country is truly screwed. Next thing you know he'll be producing legislation to subsidize outsourcing.

>barf<

I'm voting for Mickey Mouse, McCain/Gore just doesn't appeal to me.

Basically McCain is just another liberal democrat.
We have three running now to see who can look the most like George McGivern.

I assume this is a cynical ploy to rope in sandal-wearers from the center....we'll see if it works. I've never liked McCane, and this doesn't help.

Just one more reason to stay home in November.

I'm going to write my own name in, I certainly couldn't do any worse

He's lost his mind.

It's too bad, he is our only choice and he is such a lib.

He's lost his mind.

Posted by rightisright at 2008-05-13 10:55 AM

The entire Republican party has lost their collective minds. The fact they couldn't come up with someone better than McCain follows the downward trend the last several years. Giving up on the likes of someone like George Allen because of a innocent remark furthers the argument of their weakness. Thanks for thinking ahead to 2008. How hard could it have been to convince Cheney to step down because of health reasons and put someone in place who could unite the party???

It's always surprising to see claims of "absolute truth" when it comes to climate change. On one hand, you've got the righties claiming that nothing is wrong, on the other some lefties claiming the sky is falling. Sure there's evidence of historical fluctuations in weather patterns, but from where I'm sitting, I see the environment getting bitch-slapped, water sources being destroyed, air quality in urban centers deteriorating to the point of keeping the elderly and young indoors (!!!), etc. etc. etc.

Looking at this type of pollution, quite visible in China and India, it's obvious that existing industrial processes as well as certain types of consumption are extremely harmful to the environment. That is a non-debatable fact. So again, we're left with the right calling for status quo, the left for change.

Even if the whole climate change debate were a moot point, there is sufficient evidence to at least discuss changing the way we interact with the environment. If there is a positive impact on global climate, it's a bonus.

In any case, I find it difficult to understand the logic or reason (beyond partisan politics) of the "do nothing" crowd.

**** I suppose he could claim senility.

.....is'nt that a prerequisite for being a Republican nominee ?.....

.....that and a history of closet homosexuality ?.......

Why couldn't he have broken with Bush on ethanol? His ratings would go up five points.

Climate change is real. It was sunny and cool here yesterday, but it is cloudy and warmer today.

To run an errand, I drove 3 extra miles on my way to work today.

Proof.

McCain opposes ethanol subsidies, supposedly.

Much like his confusion on the word amnesty.

Do you believe John McCain on this issue?

Giving up on the likes of someone like George Allen because of a innocent remark

If his remark was innocent, then I don't want to hear any more bullshit about how Rev. Wright's statements have any reflection on Obama.

Joe said: I don't trust a word the man says anyway. He'll say whatever he thinks he needs to say.

Funny, you and I agree. Just that you say it about McCain and I say it about Obama. And so it goes....

Skizziks,

Na..If McCane were a closet homosexual, you'd be voting for him.

"the importance of climate change"
-----

Without climate change this planet would still be a very hot molten Sphere. Climate change is what makes life on this planet possible. I say three cheers for climate change!!!

Someday everyone will recognize the "the importance of climate change", and realize they've done nothing to further it, and they can do nothing to stop it.

Do you mean we have had hot and cold peroids here on earth before I bought my big diesel truck? I don't believe you, I think my truck is to blame for the earth's temprature not going up at all this century.

The people of Flagstaff woke up to snow again this morning. I'll bet they will be glad when it cools down some.

It is not warming abnormally!!!!!!!

The warming that we have been experiencing is not from man's activities. It is from the cyclical forces of nature. The earth warms, then the earth cools, and the cycle continually repeats itself. Those of you who cannot understand this are ignorant of scientific facts.

Those who are spreading the fear of Global Warming are acting irresponsibly, and eventually, their agenda will be exposed. It is nothing more than an attempt by the left to impose government restrictions on our lifestyles while at the same time increasing our taxes. (For example, I wouldn't be surprised if a law went into effect imposing a "carbon" tax on automobile owners. Of course, you'll have to pay a higer "carbon" tax if you want to drive that big SUV.)

The fact that John McCain is attempting to gain votes by recognizing the Global Warming myth is a bit disconcerting.

They're all here, Danni, denying global warming and celling their anointed one a lib. We're doomed.

This - "I don't trust a word the man says anyway. He'll say whatever he thinks he needs to say" - is a representative sample of rightie Doublethink. herm

"...and calling their anointed one a lib. We're doomed."

Herm, he's not my annoited one. My candidate of choice, Duncan Hunter, withdrew from the race months ago. About the only thing good about John McCain is that he's not as bad as the other two candidates.

I remember the movie "Brewster's Millions", and how one of the candidates (Richard Pryor) was campaigning on the slogan "None of the Above". Well, I wish we had that option. If "None of the Above" wins, then we wipe the slate clean and start with a new set of candidates.

SURPRISE! McCain is using Liberal talking points to get elected. Wow, what a shocker! McCain is a lame duck candidate...there is no point in voting for a Republican socialist, when the Democrats have mastered Socialism and wealth redistribution.

If his remark was innocent, then I don't want to hear any more bullshit about how Rev. Wright's statements have any reflection on Obama.

I think Allen was pointing to someone with a mohawk haircut in a off the cuff remark. Ninety nine percent of America had no clue what macaca meant. How anyone could use the Wright analogy as equal is a little beyond me.

McCain is a lame duck candidate..

Hemna, you may want to look up the definition of lame duck.

"Those of you who cannot understand this are ignorant of scientific facts."

I guess it is sort of a problem that the vast majority of scientists are ignorant of scientific facts. Fortunately they have REPUBLICAN4EVER to help them get up to speed on scientific facts.

This - "I don't trust a word the man says anyway. He'll say whatever he thinks he needs to say" - is a representative sample of rightie Doublethink. herm

Herm, That quote was initially made by Joe, in reference to McCain. You should get that jerking knee problem fixed. Or the dyslexia. Or whatever it is that causes you to read only a piece of the thread and then spew.

McCain is hand in hand with Liberals on almost every social idea.

Why do the liberals hate him so much? hmm..

The guy is a democrat on domestic issues with a (R) next to his name.

Its not hard to figure out.

Kuma

Yeah! He's SUCH A liberal!

He's no 'War Hero' like that George Bush. Bush is a cowboy AND a cheerleader....NOTHING more manly than THAT!

Rush Burned Into McCain's ass So Bad For This, He Talked So Bad About Him I Thought McCain Was A Clinton !!

Man made Global Warming is an arrogant position. I for one think that massive ball of plasma we call the Sun has more to do with it than man or cow farts.

I suspect we'll be discussing Global Cooling in less than a decade... then what???

Pipe down and get to the back of the bus, macaca.

Mr. Innocent

Well, you think wrong then ignoramus. There is no dispute whatsoever about who Grand Wizard Allen was referring to when he made that racist remark.

"To run an errand, I drove 3 extra miles on my way to work today.

Were you able to find some good shit this time, or was it that same stuff that has been stomped on? A three mile errand, indeed.

Finally a republican who GETS IT!
I'm so tired of global-warming deniers.

Why do so many people WANT dirty air?
Why do so many people WANT dirty water?
Why do so many people WANT wildlife to become extinct?
Why do so many people WANT to destroy our planet?

These types REALLY frustrate me.
As of this late date, this is the only planet we have.
We should come together and be good stewards of OUR planet.
Even though I don't like John McCain's policys of
war mongering, greed, hatred and division, he is on
track with his views on global warming.

Be Well.

Skip Wellington?????

AHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!

There are billions and billions of planets out there to defile - get ye to Mars!

Why do so many people WANT dirty air?
Why do so many people WANT dirty water?
Why do so many people WANT wildlife to become extinct?

What does any of that have to do with global warming?

Do you know that our planet has gotten colder this century? Do you know that? You can take your global warming and stick it the same place the dumb fucks stuck global cooling back in the 70s.

Get a life and do some reasearch before you run off at the mouth.

There was no proof for the last century that the 1/2 degree rise was man caused. It has only been the last 15 years that we have been able to get good tempratures for the globe.

Wait until you get a load of the cost of our "fixing" man made global warming. Those industries that have high emmissions will have to buy "carbon credits" (probably from the government) to use the available emissions from some other industry that doesn't need all of their "allowance" in order to continue to produce their product. In other words, the emissions will remain the same but the price tag of producing will increase. How in the hell is that "fixing" this so called man made global warming? It's just putting more money in somebody's pockets.

This sounds like just another excuse for the whackos out there to justify the continued ban on drilling for our own oil in our own country so we can remain dependent on those countries that hate our guts.

I'm disgusted with all the candidates. McCain (and Bush, too) want us to continue to be sympathetic to the illegal immigrants who cost taxpayers a wad of money. The other 2 candidates are right in there with that mentality, too.

IMHO, the war in Iraq was an attempt to keep the wrong hands out of control of the availability and price of oil to this country and to have a "friendly" country on our side. Look at the price of oil now.

And we all know we can't drill for our own oil if we are going to have to pay for emissions that is causing "man made global warming". So we throw more money at alternatives that are probably nowhere close to producing the same energy.

When is somebody in government going to wake up and see that we are destroying our economy and our independence from foreign countries with this kind of garbage???
