Drudge Retort: Red Meat for Yellow Dogs

In spite of Republicans urging him not to run, former Republican Rep. Bob Barr launched a Libertarian Party presidential bid Monday, saying voters are hungry for an alternative to the status quo who would dramatically cut the federal government. "I've heard from Americans from all walks of life ... they want a choice," he said. "They believe that America has more and better to offer than what the current political situation is serving up to us."

If McCain years as a POW, then why is he afraid of Bob Barr? How can McCain deal with Iran and Al Qaeda if he is afraid of Bob Barr?

What are they, chicken?

I thin they are chicken.

I heard that McCain and Obama were taling about possibly having joint forums, but of course, no third party candidates would be allowed.

Completely chicken.

I am not yet angry enough to use the word coward.

Run, Bob, run. /s/ The whipped cream lobby.

Why are the Repubs so upset? They were sure-as-shit happy about Nader bleeding off votes from Gore.

They're a little concerned 'cause their accidental candidate can't get more than 70-75% of the vote running unopposed in the latest primaries.

Don't know about you, but I'm looking forward to the Obama-McCain debates. Anybody remember Admiral Stockdale?

Bwack Bwack Squawk Squawk Bwack Bwack Squawk Squawk. Peck Peck Peck Bwack Bwack Squawk Squawk Bwack Bwack Squawk Squawk. Peck Peck Peck What are You Republicans Yellow?? You sure ain't Marty McFly THAT is for certain.

"Anybody remember Admiral Stockdale?

Posted by TedBaxter at 2008-05-12 07:53 PM"

Yup. A young pup compared to McAncient.

Yeah--Stockdale was Ross Perot VP pick--nice guy and all but the worse debater--ever!

And Larry --when you use Bwack Bwack--that is reference to Barack Obama..

Barr can run--good luck and yeah like Nader is insignificant.

Murphy

One of the all-time top political quotes. "Who am I? Why am I here?"

Yeah, I can hear McCain saying that. Good thing Joe Lieberman won't be far away.

Who cares? Is this going to help the Halfrican?

Sorry Murphy i used to raise Chickens and that is the sound a chicken makes bwack bwack bwack NOT Barack Obama. Just a FYI.

Larry Mohr

Operation Chaos Part II

So is he really running or just angling for a possible cabinet position?

I find it hilarious that the guy who's opposed to big government was one of the stick the government in your bedroom hypocrites.

Bob Barr will run as a libertarian and get the usual half a percent.

Now Hillary running as an independent that has a nice sound to it. I might even donate a few bucks for that.

SEE YOU IN DENVER!

BEE SWELL

This is good. Ron Paul might not back out either. For the republicans November might look like another primary.

Invest those bucks in a lottery Crack, you'll have a better odds.

"Now Hillary running as an independent that has a nice sound to it. I might even donate a few bucks for that."

Crackpipe, first, ain't gonna happen.

Second, you don't have a few bucks.

Third, you're supposed to deal the product not smoke it.

run mofo run

Barr isn't a Libertarian so this is all self-hype. Nor for the record is Mike Gravel another wannabe Lib candidate.

Ron Paul is a Libertarian at heart though and I for one hope the Libs draft him as their choice for President and that he accepts their nomination.

Ron Paul will get a seat at the convention and a speech--He will then encourage all his pals to vote for McCain.

He will like the items he agrees with McCain and there are a few..maybe on two hands counting.

Larry--

Barack's nickname is Bwarrrack--because he is chicken to debate Hillary...

Amoung other reasons...

Murphy

Why should Obama debate Hellary?? Why get Your hands dirty if You don't have to?? I mean I could see Your point if Obama was trailing Hellary but He ain't so He isn't chicken.

Larry Mohr

"Ron Paul is a Libertarian at heart"

People keep making this assertion. I understand that his ideals are closer to Libertarian than either Republican (who lost their ideals) or Democrat (never had any ideals), but he is really a Constitutionalist. Take a look at his policies and you will see that he is more in line with the Consitutionalist Party than the Libertarian Party.

"he is chicken to debate Hillary..."

Riiiiiight.

That's why she's so far ahead of him.

He whipped her ass fair and square and there's no reason for him to debate her.

Stick a fork in her and let her deflate.

"Barack's nickname is Bwarrrack--because he is chicken to debate Hillary..."

Do you realize just how stupid that statement sounds after 23 debates???

One more time, Republicans are such hypocrits. When this was Nader they were all for it. Now it's something that can hurt them and they cry foul. Go figure!

They debated 20+ times.

Be serious or don't waste our time.

Bob Barr used to work fer the ACLU.

"Barack's nickname is Bwarrrack--because he is chicken to debate Hillary..."

Never, ever apply reality to a Righty's postings. It makes their heads explode.

Fair is fair. The DEmocratic Party needs to offer to finance Barr's campaign.

First the Republicans nominate a candidate who turns off the entire far rightwing base of the Party. Now Barr is running for the Libertarians.
I gotta say, this is shaping up to be a great year to be a Democrat.

"Bob Barr will run as a libertarian and get the usual half a percent."

If Repugs thought he only was gonna get half a percent they wouldn't be having a cow now. Obviously they think he can get more than that if they are so upset.

It is amusing watching the Republicans piss in their pants over this announcement. A classic example of they can deal it out, but they just can't take it.

How many head to head debates were there? How many debates between just Hillary and Obama? Why would any candidate refuse to debate? So you've said everything before---say it again--not everyone heard you. How many times has Bush brought up 911? Just because a subject has been discussed before, doesn't mean it can't be discussed again. Bush talked about 911 more than 23 times in just one speech. Obama didn't do so well in the last debate. Can he stand up to the pressure necessary to be President?

The only problem with him is that he has a voting record of a far right wing social conservative, which is anti-libertarian.

Why would any candidate refuse to debate?.....Obama didn't do so well in the last debate. Can he stand up to the pressure necessary to be President?

Oh please. At some point, debates DO become tedious repetitions. Unless there's a new topic or SOMETHING to warrant a new debate, 23 is more than enough. And if you're trying to make the point that you've won the primaries already, the last thing you want to do is have a ANOTHER debate and legitimize your opponent's continued campaigning.

Obama did just fine. The problem was, people have heard everything both candidates have to say, people end up parsing the meanings of hand movements and body language instead of their words.

Either one of them could rip McCain. Don't believe me? Wait and see. It'll be one of the highest rated debates in history.

I think 21 debates is enough among democrats.

21 Debates isn't enough(Stomps feet)21 debates isn't enough(Stomps feet) We need more Debates(Shakes finger) We need more information (Flips the bird) We haven't learned anything in the 21 debates(Scratches ass) We need more Debates.

Signed any Anti Obama Poster.

Larry Mohr

I truly think Hillary should run as an independent. Yes I know if she won it would fuck up the country but I feel the same about Obama and his magic dreams without actual stated facts to back them up.

She would have a very good chance in all honesty. Right now she is the stronger democratic candidate and with her strong support in New York and California it would be tuff to beat her.

The democratic party should be careful as to how unfairly they dismiss her. You know what they say "hell hath no fury like a woman scorned".

SEE YOU IN DENVER!!!!

Bee Swell

So Box Itch aka YouKnewWho aka CrackPipeJunkie wants chaos more than ever. He really doesn't give a flying fuck about America and healing this Country. Typical Righty Tighty Fuck.

Larry Mohr

Why exactly are debates important? How often does a president actually have to DEBATE issues? I'd prefer a president who's a little more flexible and ready to concede when confronted with obviously superior ideas. I'd like to have a president who is willing to hire specialists who are better informed in their specific jobs than s/he is and takes their counsel seriously. A good debater is nothing more than an egotistical child, more inclined to throw tantrums than to act with reason. We've had one of those for almost eight years now. Not that he wa a good debater, either...

OT - who the fuck would actually vote for Bob Barr??? Only the freakiest of the fringe.

Larry, name calling aside my statement was in reference to Hillary's win at all cost attitude. For the same reason she continues in the democratic race she should run as an independent. That reason is she wants to be president.

The same can be said of Barrack. He knows he does not have the experience to be president but yet selfishly is running and the country be damned. 2 years in the senate does not qualify one to be president. During those 2 years he has been an absentee senator.

What meaningful accomplishment has he had since being in the senate? None whatsoever!

Like him or not John McCain has an extensive history of accomplishments in the senate including campaign finance reform.

Barrack was back in the Illinois senate voting for a gas tax freeze when McCain was getting things done in the U.S. Senate.

SEE YOU IN DENVER!!!

Bee Swell

Hey Larry Mohr.

SEE YOU IN DENVER!

Where you get your ass handed to you. Don't cry when Hussien gets owned.

Because its on like Donkey Kong.

Kuma

Sorry but John McCain's experience is meaningless when He sold His soul to the devil and supported and KowTowed Dubya. The Guy has lost My total and complete respect. As far as Obama You don't believe His Illinois Senate time doesn't count?? I would hazard an educated guess that MultiMillionairs that started out as Paperboys would say their time throwing papers helped them get where they are today and that experience does indeed count. Funny how that works out.

Larry Mohr

LOL Donkey Kong that is so 1980's get with the times Kuma.

==========
They had 20 debates already and the last one Barack was set up. What more do you want? Hillary could have used one more debate considering the situation she is in but again she screwed herself big time. She is her own worst enemy so lets not let her be ours. She should go on here way.

Oh please. At some point, debates DO become tedious repetitions. Unless there's a new topic or SOMETHING to warrant a new debate, 23 is more than enough. Sure.

www.electoral-vote.com

You must be correct.

www.electoral-vote.com

"Like him or not John McCain has an extensive history of accomplishments in the senate including campaign finance reform."

That, in reality, you oppose as a violation of "free speech" right??
Perhaps his "experience" rewarding lobbyists with land swaps is what you like about him or perhaps his "experience" as part of the Keating Five is what draws you to him.
We NEED the least experienced because in Washington "experience" translates to "Washington Insider" and "old ideas."

Just checked out his website. Looks like he wants to repeal the 16th amendment implement that "fair tax" nonsense. Good luck with that one.

The day that a real liberatarian becomes president will be the day that I become engaged again in the process of American government.

And the day that a 'constitutionalist' like Ron Paul becomes president will be the day that I give everything to the larger good.

It ain't gonna happen. Too many vested corporate/political interests to let this country go back to the enlightened days when an individual had rights and responsibilities. Never fucking happen.

"back to the enlightened days when an individual had rights and responsibilities. Never fucking happen."

When was that exactly, and what rights are you talking about?

"Barr isn't a Libertarian"

Says who? Name one issue on which his stance does not coincide with the libertarian platform.

It ain't gonna happen. Too many vested corporate/political interests to let this country go back to the enlightened days when an individual had rights and responsibilities. Never fucking happen.

So you're saying most Americans are self-centered, brainwashed half-wits (most likely true) who don' care.

Or are too chicken to require the government works towards their best interests, and stand up to these corportions as a unified populace.

OR, the populace (in general) really are united in purpose, but the media is a disinformation tool used to divide the US populace along the lines of:
1. Race
2. Gender
3. Class
4. All of the above

"They debated 20+ times."

Posted by midiman

Stupid flag.

They debated 20+ times with moderators asking questions. A head to head format would have been something new, possibly setting a higher standard of debate, which would have been good for everyone.

Not the whole "rights" stuck needle again!

We NEED the least experienced because in Washington "experience" translates to "Washington Insider" and "old ideas."

Are the planets realigning??? I could have sworn the current POTUS has been spit on more times than the floor of the Dodgers dugout because of his lack of experience. Now because it happens the least experienced candidate in the last 60 years is a dem... Sounds a bit fickle.

That damn 'rights' issue is just a problem for the totalitarians, ain't it, Letusprey.

I'll tell you what I'll do. You show me a law that was passed by the government of this USA that requires me to pay income taxes and I'll never post on this site again about rights or responsibilites and I'll praise the idiot left wingers and the nazi right wingers every single day from now on.

Before you search, you should know that every court that has allowed this line to be considered has come up empty. Even the IRS can't find it when pressed to present the law.

"every court that has allowed this line to be considered has come up empty."

Oh, boy, just wait until Wesley Snipes hears about this!

"You show me a law that was passed by the government of this USA that requires me to pay income taxes and I'll never post on this site again about rights or responsibilites and I'll praise the idiot left wingers and the nazi right wingers every single day from now on."

Here you go.

Internal Revenue Code, Section 1(c): There is hereby imposed on the taxable income of every individual.

Section 63(a): The term "taxable income" means gross income minus the deductions allowed by this chapter.

Section 61(a): Gross income means all income from whatever source derived, including (but not limited to) the following items:
(1)Compensation for services, including fees, commissions, fringe benefits, and similar items.

1(c) should say "There is hereby imposed on the taxable income of every individual a tax determined in accordance with the following table."
