Drudge Retort: Red Meat for Yellow Dogs

Although Democrats are still tangled in a fractious presidential primary, both Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama would probably beat presumptive GOP nominee John McCain in the popular vote if the election were held now, according to a Los Angeles Times/Bloomberg poll released today. McCain remains competitive, but the poll identified one important vulnerability: Voters ranked him lowest among the three candidates on who could best handle the nation's economic problems, by far the most pressing concern for the public irrespective of party, gender or income.

this article does not take into consideration that the dems could lose a presidential election to any clown running... actually, they just did that.

all the best.

The only economic concern is oil. This country has an addiction to oil worse than a heroin junky. Oil goes up and we fall.

How about different technologies. Cyclone engine, electric cars, 35 mpg minimum rating and drill the crap out of the US for oil! Stop foreign dependence!

nationwide polls are useless. Totally useless.

Kuma

I tend to agree unless it's Zolby's:>)

Its funny it again, Favors Hillary. Obama people don't care, the blinders are fully on and its do or die all the way.

Kuma

kuma, it's not that we don't care. it's that we want to see the system play out, and a united party. yes, it favors hillary, but she isn't winning the nomination is she? so look at the big picture.

Democrats are the preferred party in every single category from national security to the economy.

The GOP is kidding themselves if they think this exausted nation will vote for 4 more years of Bush policies.

AmericanUnity. Thats for damn sure.

I am the most right wing guy on this board. maybe, and I absolutely despise Bush. Bush is terrible.

From my perspective, I look at Bush, and I can't even grasp why democrats hate him so much. Almost every democrat voted for the war, and will stay in Iraq. Thats all you have on him.

Other than that, Bush is a totally left leaning social liberal that spends money like its going out of style + grew the government HUGE. + the border and amnesty.

Bush is so terrible, he absolutely sucks, worst president of my lifetime, worse than carter even and carter sucked dick.

the GOP will totally revamp its guts in 08, or they will be crushed, and no longer will be a party. They suck horrible.

One thing I like about McCain is that he isn't a big spender, like Bush. And his border plan is doable and realistic. On the war, your going to get the same thing with democrat or republican.

Democrat gets elected, goes to Petreus, says "pull out now" And Petreus says "we can't because of all these reasons" if Obama says do it anyway, then he will immediately resign, and Obama will be faced with a crisis of epidemic proportions going against sitcom commander and all the other top commanders who will resign. Obama won't do it, and either will Hillary.

So don't fantasize on that, it won't happen.

Economics wise, McCain is the best bar none, as well as on Border and immigration.

+McCain works well with democrats, and Hillarya nd Obama are generally despised by all republicans and they won't be able to pass a god damn thing because it will be blocked in the senate.

Democrats should be happy mcCain is elected, you guys can WORK WITH HIM.

Whereas, republicans will stonewall the living shit out of Obama.

Logically, I am right here, and I think you know that I am.

If you can conclude that republican economic policies are viable after all of these reapeated failures, then facts - and LOGIC- aren't your strongest suit.

Which recent repub pres hasn't left an economic mess which required tax INCREASES and a follow-on of democrats in order to fix? Reagan - nope. Whopper tax increase, as I recall. "Read my lips" Bush 1- nope. Dubya? hahahahahaha

The LA Times has less creditability then the NYT. I don't believe their poll.

"The LA Times has less creditability then the NYT. I don't believe their poll."

Ozzieoswald has less credibility than Tadowe. I don't believe he has ever had a logical thought in his life. His grammar and spelling are certainly shit though.

Voting today is like choosing your executioner. The endless war, the declining economy and the fatal stupidity of Washington are late warning signs. I'm living in a land of the brain dead who are voting for the self destruction of this nation.

Anyone who didn't bother to read Lincoln Chafee's op-ed about the tax cuts for the rich really shouldn't pretend to have an intelligent opinion about our economy and how the Bush administration has put it in the toilet. John McCain's new found support for the tax cut for the rich shows that he was right when he said "I really don't know much about economics." That statement was the last time he was right about anything. I used to respect him though I disagreed with him, now I don't even think he plays with a full deck. I didn't think it was possible for anyone to be more ambitious than Hillary Clinton but I was wrong.

McCain works well with democrats, and Hillarya nd Obama are generally despised by all republicans and they won't be able to pass a god damn thing because it will be blocked in the senate.

You honestly think the republicans are going to keep all their seats in the senate?

This is where Bush has really hurt the party, the republicans will take a beating in congressional races.

You honestly think the republicans are going to keep all their seats in the senate?

Yes, and if there is as many people as I think there are who feel like I about the democrats in congress the republicans are going to gain seats.

I will not vote a democrate one for congress, NOT a one.

Republicans all the way baby! A bad decision is better than doing nothing and that is all the democrats do, nothing, but they sure can whine and cry about how it's not their fault. Throw all the lazy do nothins to the curb.

"I will not vote a democrate one for congress, NOT a one."

Oh gee, and we were so depending on your vote.
The lunatic fringe vote is always so important to the Democratic Party.

"I will not vote a democrate one for congress, NOT a one."

So. . .how about a Democrat?

The lunatic fringe vote is always so important to the Democratic Party.

And who said the democratic party is not the ELITIST party?!!!

Not one democrat in congress, NOT a one. They have done nothing, and have made a sham out of this primary election with the ELITE SD's that as for the congress they are a waste of time.

"And who said the democratic party is not the ELITIST party?!!!"

OMG!!! Elitist???? Wow, a manufactured accusation meaning virtually nothing of any consequence.
Elitist is a useful accusation for opponents who have nothing of substance to argue with.
No one with any real intelligence would consider the term anything except useful in motivating poorly educated voters to reject a candidate for reasons that have nothing to do with their own welfare or the nation's welfare. Purely an emotional term to evoke the anti-intellectual bias of blue collar voters. I am a little surprised that you would even consider it a legitimate term to use but then perhaps "lunatic fringe" was a better descriptive term than I originally thought.
FDR was an elitist.
JFK was an elitist.
Please.....let us elect another "elitist."

If we end up with a democratic congress (which we probably will) and a democratic pres (which we probably will) look forward to more years of mad government spending, unchecked growth in government and more of the downward spiral we are experiencing now. The whole point of the system is to have checks and balances. If one party controls all we loose that.

Heck I have no beef with Billy but his best years were with a Republican congress. Bush has had 6 years with a republican congress and things have gone from bad to worse to just terrible. We need the checks on power that come from the executive being split with the legislative.

It doesn't matter which of the 3 get elected as far as the economy goes.. None of them will bring ALL of our troops home, cut government, decrease spending, etc. As long as American sheeple continue to believe our government was designed to take care of them cradle to grave, our financial situation will generally head downhill.. Don't let the occasional boom fool you...

Anyone who didn't bother to read Lincoln Chafee's op-ed about the tax cuts for the rich really shouldn't pretend to have an intelligent opinion about our economy...

It isn't the amount of taxes that they collect, its how much they increase spending every year. When is the last time they actualy decreased the size of government?

It is nothing but a simplistic talking point that decreasing spending will bring properity. Nothing could be farther from the truth. In reality we need to greatly increase taxation on the wealthy and spend, spend, spend on infrastructure, alternative energy research, and environmental improvements. Creating high wage jobs will bring prosperity for the working class, reducing government spending will only increase the already too extreme concentration of the wealth at the top.
Americans need to learn and learn quickly....trickle down economics, Milton Friedman and REaganomics are all different names for economic disaster.

Facts are no one has increased government like George W Bush. Doubled our budget. And for what? Where are all the new schools, roads, and bridges?

What we got was a war and a prescription drug plan that costs the government more for prescriptions than a company of 40. Why? The GOP made it illegal to negotiate prices with the pharmas.

If you can conclude that republican economic policies are viable after all of these reapeated failures,

What has failed?

The housing bubble burst? That was all speculation by investors. They were greedy. Who's fault is that?

Banks are in trouble? See housing bubble. Banks made loans they should not have made. They were greedy. Who's fault is that?

Our government spends more than they take in. Every administration for a long time has done that including Clinton.

Headline correction: "Poll: Economic Concerns Put Obama Ahead of McCain."

we need to greatly increase taxation on the wealthy and spend, spend, spend on infrastructure, alternative energy research, and environmental improvements.

You think that a tax and spend government is the answer to everything.

Tell me one thing government invented besides weapons of war.

As soon as alternative energy becomes profitable, it will happen. Right now oil is still the cheepest form of energy for cars and will be used until it isn't.

"You think that a tax and spend government is the answer to everything."

Of course not! As Republicans have shown, a spend and borrow from Red China gov't is the way to go.

If we end up with a democratic congress (which we probably will) and a democratic pres (which we probably will) look forward to more years of mad government spending, unchecked growth in government and more of the downward spiral we are experiencing now

TAOWARRIOR

What you've stated is exactly what the GOP Congress and Bush did. That's why I'm voting Democrat.

AU: BINGO - And only koolaide drinking, Rush worshipping pinheads will fail to see just that.

"You think that a tax and spend government is the answer to everything."

Well, me and John Meynard Keynes.

If you think the economy is bad now, just wait until the Democrats get their hands on it and try to tax us into prosperity. It's never been successfully done before, but they won't let that stop them.

Yeah those Bush tax cuts have done one hell of a job with the economy, Republicancer!
