And BTW Boaz. I didn't see this article as too complimentary to Cons. It basically says they're happier because they're better at lying to themselves.

To justify economic inequalities, a person could support the idea of meritocracy, in which people supposedly move up their economic status in society based on hard work and good performance. * * * Hmmm. So conservatives believe in hard work and performance, and liberals don't. Well, that explains a lot. Have a great day!

happiness = delusional seriously, libs have been down and out for so long, they should be downright depressed. they want social programs that are never going to happen with the money this administration's put out over the last eight years. they want clean air that even their grand kids won't breathe in. they want peace that will not occur in any of our lifetimes. they want equality for all that hasn't happened ever (delusion know no boundry) on and on.. basically, they've set their sites higher than conservatives. cons seem to be happy simply by screwing someone, denying someone something or simply wallowing in their own dirt. when you are pacified that easily, this conclusion makes perfect sense. all the best.

Duh, everything is great, George. Tell me about the rabbits, okay George? I want to get a rabbit. I would hug it and squeeze it and play with it and then wring it's little neck.

Liberals are not happy, because they are stubborn, stupid, or mentally challenged. At the very least, they suffer from low self esteem. They do not accept the fact, that others can be more intelligent than they are. Also, you would be "Not as happy" if you had to defend yourself all the time. They do not want to admit they were/are wrong, because they feel that would show weakness, and they would rather be wrong, than to admit weakness. Want proof? read the Bitching and whining that follows this.

Thats for sure. We are happier because we are smart. The liberals on the other hand are stupid, low level thinkers. Thats why they need the government to run their life and everything else. Because they can't do it themselves. So because of this, democrats "worry" about how the government is going to save them their entire lives. Me on the other hand, I rejoice in the opportunity each day to mock every single democrat I see on the street openly. It makes me laugh. They are like stupid trolls that walk around with no real thoughts. You try and engage a liberal in an argument, GUARANTEED within 3 sentences its Bush's fault. Thats the level of intelligence they have. Which doesn't surprise me, since democrats believe they actually evolved from rocks. Kuma

Here's the presidential candidate for the happy go lucky cancervatives. I know he's pissed off because he's short, because the "gooks" used him as a pinata, because he's married to a trollup cunt ,because he was caught up to his wrinkled ass in the savings and loan scandal,etc.... rightsfield.com

KUMA You wrongly assume every Democrat is a liberal, just as it's wrong to assume every Republican is a NeoCon moron BTW, Americans are identifying themselves as Democrats by double digits over Republicans. You're outnumbered. The GOP is in a slide. Soon, all the idiots like Rush and Hannity will be nothing more than another radio show no one listens to but the few remaining sheep and dittoheads. Young people 17-35 - the future of politics - are voting Democratic by huge, huge margins. Older GOPers are pissed as hell with what the NeoCon morons did to the party. Party's over for the GOP for the foreseeable future.

Hey AmericanUnity. Let me spell it out for you. Obama c a n t w i n. N O T E L E C T A B L E. You understand? And I have no doubt your right, in 20 years 65% or so of Americans will be total liberals. I mean you can't have unfettered illegal immigration, and import the poorest people in the world with entitlement mentality by the 10's of millions and expect even 1 of them to be GOP. They are all democrats. Just in the last 10 years, because of Clinton and Bush, because of the births, and illegals, I would assume about 45 MILLION people are the results of illegals. there you go, 45 million democrats. So I agree with you there. GOD KNOWS why you guys like the poorest people in the world, and you want to give them every free social service, but hey, its your downfall. Kuma

Hey AU, Obama will be our next president by a LAND SLIDE, it will be the shortest count in history. We will know by 8 pm in the evening.

In fact they won't need to do total counts because the majority will be reached just half way thru.

The only way they will gain control, is if they do not use writtten communications at the polling place. It will have to be pictures, and chads. So there is still hope.

Alahu Bushbar! Alahu Cheneybar! "Submission" is good for the soul and easy on the intellect. So there is no need to justify inequities and unfairness. It is all the same. To me social conservatism is the FIRST COUSIN to Fundamentalist Islam. They are both willing to tolerate inequities and a tiered existence between the lucky and the less fortunate. They are both willing to tolerate repression and punishment, and to decry individual thought and expanded social freedoms. This is why Cheneybar and Bushbar are so hyped up on becoming modern-day American Emirs. They see nothing wrong with petro-dollar inequality and social repression. It's all right for them, therefore its all right for everyone.

Is there any inherent difference in the way a lib or a con defines "happiness" for himself?
Posted by OohRah at 2008-05-08 03:11 PM | Reply | Flag: Flag: (Choose)FunnyNewsworthyOffensiveAbusive
The very ideologies of liberal and conservative prove that conservatives are happier. Conservatives are happy with the way things are and do not want to change them. The liberals want to change things. The only reason people want to change is because they are not happy with the way things are. Think about it -- have you ever met anyone who wants to change something that they are happy with?
Posted by goatman at 2008-05-08 03:16 PM | Reply | Flag: Flag: (Choose)FunnyNewsworthyOffensiveAbusive
Odd -- I hear conservatives saying that "liberals" are against hard work and performance. Wonder where that comes from? Though I am a confirmed "centrist" and I don't understand what the terms "liberal" and "conservative' really mean, it seems to me that some of the world's most "liberal" innovations have been some of the best things that ever happened in the world, and that many people more liberal than me are much harder working than either me or my more conservative brethren. Look at the revolution in public health, consumer advocacy, environmental advocacy, and open governance. These were all "liberal" innovations, and it seems the world is better off for them. On a more personal level, look at the protypical "liberal" USSC Justice Thurgood Marshall. He was a prodigious worker! Look at the civil rights workers who turned out en masse against Jim Crow -- They all were selfless and tireless in working themselves nearly to death (or in some cases, beyond) to rectify social injustices. Today, many liberal, hard working D.A.'s know they will make less money at their chosen career, but they choose it because it will make them feel that they are living honest lives that are more meaningful than pursuing careers in corporate law representing special interests. The kids at my graduate schools who were often the biggest slackers were generally from the fancy watch wearing crowd; they regularly found shortcuts throughout their blessed youth; and they finagled their way into high-status corporate jobs based on connections and their willingness to work for mammon rather than for mankind. Their "success" had less to do with their willingness to "work hard" as opposed to willingness to "work for the highest bidder". Often, the absence of a social conscience helped them find their way.

Any human still happy in the age of Bush ... Herm: Some of us have a life outside of politics and our happiness is therefore not dependent on who is president. I've been happy my whole life, even when I didn't like the president as the one we have now. I'm sorry to hear that your happiness depends on who is in the White House. No offense, but you really need to get a life, herm, and quit letting Bush control yours.

I am a Conservative and completely content in my life because I don't worry about things I have no control of; global warming, the economy (everybody else can have a recession, but not me), poverty, so on and so forth. Yeah call it having your head in the sand. I'd rather not try to depress myself which is what some people do. We live in a great society with a robust economy, so great that people have to manufacture things to worry about. We have the leisure to worry about things out of our control. I am in college and some classmates get so damned depressed about shit like Tibet and the environment, while I just enjoy going to off track betting and living my life. Its not ignorance, its knowing what the hell you need to worry about.

It's literally having one's head firmly planted in their Ringpieces. The Economy is in ashambles if You would just open Your eyes as see. You SHOULD worry about the economy because everyone suffers when it's bad even YOU Andy even though Your mind is breathing in methane it still affects You negatively. But I suppose living as You do not caring about ANYONE but YOURSELF one would tend to be "Happy" Larry Mohr
