Drudge Retort: Red Meat for Yellow Dogs

Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton is bracing for one of the most difficult days of her presidential race on Wednesday, anticipating new pressure to quit the race and facing a set of financial and logistical decisions that will determine just how robust a campaign she can continue to wage against Sen. Barack Obama, according to several advisers and political allies. And that is only for starters, these people say: After her narrow win in the Indiana primary and steep loss in North Carolina, working off a few hours of sleep, Mrs. Clinton is also bound to think over a question in her own head and to hear it from at least some supporters — should she continue running?

The Fat Lady is warming up!

Come back Tony Roma.

Depends on the outcome of Tony Rezko's trial. If he starts singing it's a new ball game.

Also why haven't they come to some compromise decision over Fla voters? The DNC, Howard Dean and company have disenfranchised far more voters the dangling chads

Lots of people calling the race over this morning, including Matt Drudge and hosts on MSNBC.

I think it's been over for a little while now. Obama just widened his lead, it's 12 delegates picked up so far I believe and an additional 210,000 in the popular vote. Clinton couldn't close the deal in NC, she got whipped and it was a close close call in Indiana where she was supposed to 'do well'.

Obama is going to get mighty close to the 2000 delegate count.

As soon as the media decides its over...its over.

Right now it looks like the media is swinging that direction and warming up for the GE.

"Also why haven't they come to some compromise decision over Fla voters?"

Because it's better to do it in June when hopefully things will have settled down. Doing it now in the middle of a heated primary battle is just not realistic. Just chill people, MIFL delegates will be seated, a compromise will be found. Howard Dean has a 50 state strategy, not a 48 state strategy. But these negotiations take time.

It's not over until I say it's over. I just can't afford to make my trailer payments without those checks from right wing organizations.

Sincerely,

Corky Lieberman

I think that at this moment, Hillary's chances of being the nominee are almost obliterated and I would imagine she is felling bitter about that.

It's nice to have hope and talk positive, but stick a fork in her. She's done.

It's over. Time for the Rethugs to start getting out the racist attack ads.

The fat lady has sung (badly).
Now she needs to find a graceful way to exit.

I think that at this moment, Hillary's chances of being the nominee are almost obliterated and I would imagine she is felling bitter about that.

Posted by member2586 at 2008-05-07 07:37 AM

Bitter indeed. The nomination was supposed to be hers. And, to be losing it to a junior senator has got to be a hard pill to swallow.

Today would be the exact day to do it gracefully.

Can she?

Can she prove she's a Democrat first, as she has been saying, and mean it?

Good riddance.

Anyone named bush or clinton should be showed the door. Both have wrecked this nation.

She'll do the right thing and be a powerful advocate for Obama is my bet. She may not feel great about it but she isn't going to pout.

Go Hillary Go!!!!!!!!!

Billery: You did everything to make this private war happen. You've done enough damage. This mission is over, Hillery. Do you understand me? This mission is over! Look at them out there! Look at them! If you won't end this now, they will kill you. Is that what you want? It's over Hillery. It's over!
Hillery: Nothing is over! Nothing! You just don't turn it off! It wasn't my war! You asked me, I didn't ask you! And I did what I had to do to win! But somebody wouldn't let us win! And I come back to the world and I see all those maggots at the voting booths, protesting me, spitting. Calling me baby killer and all kinds of vile crap! Who are they to protest me? Who are they? Unless they've been me and been there and know what the hell they're yelling about!

This thing should be over and it probably would have been had it not been for the "Rush effect" which publicly steered republicans to vote for Hillary in cross over states. The cross over issue has been significant in every state Obama lost in states that allow cross voting. I think yesterdays vote in Indiana having been as close as it is would have yielded a victory for Obama had cross over voting not been allowed. Democrats and the Super Delegates in particular should not allow the nominee to be chosen by the opposition party and should come out today and end it in Obamas favor.

The funny thing about Rush's Operation Chaos is that many of the cross-over voters will stay crossed over. The Republican party is over. Rush is over. Only people determined to live in a right wing dream world will listen to that idiot.
Bill Clinton tried to pick up his date....hahahahahah....hey Rush....if Bill wanted your date she wouldn't even remember your name.

Obama has increased his lead in the popular vote by 210,393 and increased his delegate lead by 12. At this point you're likely to start seeing SDs choosing the best moment to declare for Obama that will give them the most clout for their vote.

It's been over for a while.

It's just that Hillary's in denial. Just like she's blind to the fact that no economist doesn't support the gas tax relief, she's blind to the fact that she went from the inevitable winner to the inevitable loser.

Dream on Danni!

Ugly Truth Why Hillary Won't Quit

by Thomas M. Defrank

While the case for Hillary Clinton to stay in the race is shakier than ever, one ugly reason for staying in could be found Tuesday amid the ruddy, sun-kissed Hoosiers who cheered her on to victory at the Indianapolis Speedway.

With Clinton posing alongside pioneering Indy speedster Sarah Fisher, there were almost no African-Americans to be seen. Many in the white, working-class crowd were simply not ready to back Barack Obama - for reasons that are disturbing.

"I'm kind of still up in the air between McCain and Hillary," said Jason Jenkins, 32, who cited information from a hoax e-mail as a reason to spurn Obama.

"I'll be honest with you. Barack scares the hell out of me,"he said. "He swore on the Koran."

Obama did manage to pull in many white voters, but still encountered similar sentiments from a man who refused to shake his hand at a diner in Greenwood, Ind.

"I can't stand him," the man said. "He's a Muslim. He's not even pro-American as far as I'm concerned."

Such feelings leave Clinton and the Democratic Party in a tough spot. With the largest number of remaining delegates nowbeing party insiders, they have to decide if Obama can overcome enough of that antipathy - essentially deciding if enough working-class whites will back away from the black candidate, whether because of the false Muslim rumors, the Rev. Jeremiah Wright flap or old-fashioned racism.

"I think that's right," said former Bill Clinton pollster Doug Schoen. "Obama showed that he could put together that coalition in North Carolina. In Indiana, he was less successful."

"He has to convince people that he can win over working-class whites in places like Florida, Ohio and Michigan," Schoen said.

That cold calculus, while not of Clinton's making, gives her a reason to stay in the race.

Two separate sources in the Clinton orbit insisted Tuesday night it's now more likely Hillary will pursue her quest until the August convention in Denver - unless party leaders rise up en masse and publicly tell her it's time to stop. The math, after all, remains solidly in Obama's favor.

"I can think of no reason why it would not go to the convention now," one top Hillary Democrat predicted. "Why should she get out?"

Some insiders still want to make sure no new bombshells will explode around the freshman Illinois senator.

"He could slip and stumble some more, her polls could continue to be strong, and once the party decides what to do with Florida and Michigan, his lead in the popular vote will be very narrow," an insider said.

A top Democratic source with insight into Bill's and Hillary's states of mind says the Clintons are convinced that a Democratic presidency is all but certain no matter how messy the fight for the nomination.

In that scenario - which the Obama side and some Democratic elders worry is wishful thinking at best, delusional at worst - there's no downside for Hillary doing whatever it takes for as long as it takes.

"At the end of the day," a Hillary loyalist who talks regularly to campaign headquarters sighs, "I think he still wins the nomination." But not without a bigger - and longer - fight than Obama, and many in the party, had hoped for.

The downside to our system(or any democracy):

"I'll be honest with you. Barack scares the hell out of me,"he said. "He swore on the Koran."

Obama did manage to pull in many white voters, but still encountered similar sentiments from a man who refused to shake his hand at a diner in Greenwood, Ind.

"I can't stand him," the man said. "He's a Muslim. He's not even pro-American as far as I'm concerned."

Stupid bastards like this can vote. Oh, well. Beats the alternative, doesn't it?

Slate's "Hillary Deathwatch" - "Obama comes up big in North Carolina, and Clinton merely ekes out a win (as of 11 p.m. ET) in Indiana, the combination of which all but ends Clinton's shot at the nomination. Her chances drop 8.4 points to 4.2 percent."
www.slate.com

Is it over? I hope not! It's been quite amusing watching the so called "Party of the People" disenfranchise two populous states and eat their own. This is a show that could not be scripted if you tried. You democrats think that 1968 was a debacle? Congratulations on outdoing y'allselves!

Thanks, Doc, for the deathwatch info. I was wondering about that last night but couldn't find the link.

"I'll be honest with you. Barack scares the hell out of me,"he said. "He swore on the Koran."

Obama did manage to pull in many white voters, but still encountered similar sentiments from a man who refused to shake his hand at a diner in Greenwood, Ind.

Hillary's "as far as I know" comment on 60 Minutes didn't do much to help dissaude voters that this myth is false. If the Clintons want to do the right thing for anyone other than themselves, they will support Obama's nomination and go out and enthusiastically campaign for him. If they don't, they will hurt their standing in the party and Hillary can forget about being a viable presidential candidate in the future.

It was over the second that Corky started her incessant shilling for Hill-arious. That was her demise. Way to go Corky.

"He swore on the Koran."

Looks like my dreams are coming true JMJF.

Thank you, Larry.

That nice Mr. Wolfson hasn't come by with the talking points yet. But he will. Oh, yes, he will.

PS: Remember when I said the number of delegates needed to win the nomination is 2024? Cancel that, no longer operative, shove it down the memory hole. Keep the first "2," change the "0" to another "2," take the original first "2" and put in a "0," then drop the "4" and insert a "9." You know, DNC rules anticipate such a change, don't you? In other words, "2024" is statistically insignificant, while "2209" isn't.

The wheels have come off the bus in the democrat party.

Careful inspection of the bones of Obamas carcass will begin soon.

Yes college kids might ignore his past but seasoned citizens and down home folks will see him for the left wing nutbag he is.

Wonder what has been swept under the rug? Well we will just have to look under said rug.

Don't worry DR leftwing posters I wouldn't expect you to change your view even if Obama was Hitlers baby.

"Barack scares the hell out of me,"he said. "He swore on the Koran."

It wasn't Obama, it was Rep. Kewith Ellison of Minnesota.

"Oh, uh, well, yeah. . .but he's black, too, isn't he?"

Where's Corky?

Trying to build up the courage to pull her head out of the sand.

MSNBC says Hillary loaned herself $6.4 million last month.

It's important to consider the source here. The Daily News is a terrible rag of a newspaper that is anything but credible. I'm not saying that the above quote is made up - just that the News distorts the truth to make this seem like a much more widespread problem than it is.

Back on-topic: the Fat Lady may have already sung, but Hillary's not going to give in. I'll preempt this by saying I'm an Obama supporter, but I think Hillary's going to keep fighting this until the very end. I admire her tenacity, but I found myself watching her speech on the news this morning and doing a double-take as she said that she'd be riding this momentum all the way to the White House. Okay, so she may very well win West Virginia and Kentucky, as well as Puerto Rico (though the PR primary isn't until June, iirc). Even so, the momentum that was built up from her win in Pennsylvania is extremely diminished after losing NC by such a wide margin and by barely winning IN. Her argument to the superdelegates has been weakened, and fundraising is going to be extremely difficult for her in the coming weeks.

Should she give up? Maybe. Will she give up? Probably not.

I guess we'll see.

Wow...a HIllary campaign official said Hillary loaned herself $6.4 million

Doc beat me to it.

It's Over, Hillary, Go Home

By Doug Thompson

Hilary Rodham Clinton's struggling, long shot campaign for the Presidency turned into no shot Tuesday night. She's out of cash, out of time and out of excuses. It's time to fold and head for the wings.

Financial reports scheduled for release today will show a debt-ridden campaign that will need another loan from the candidate to keep the doors open and the thumping from Barack Obama in North Carolina and her narrow win in Indiana will not convince donors to waste any more money on her futile effort.

It's over. The fat lady sang, collected her fee, and went home. Clinton needs to follow her out the door.

The only question that remains in the long, bitter campaign for the Democratic Presidential nomination is whether or not Clinton recognizes the obvious and finally puts what's left of her political party ahead of her avarice and personal ambition. If she doesn't, any chance of ever regaining a prominent position in the party that once revered her and her former President husband is long gone.

Clinton put on a brave face late last night, claiming her hallow victory in Indiana but the distracted, morose face of Bill Clinton told the story. Her campaign sent him into the bowels of North Carolina to try and wake up the uneducated, uninformed white vote that forms the core of her electability and Bubba failed to deliver.

Her brief flirtation with momentum, sparked by the win in Pennsylvania, is gone. The Clinton campaign bus is stalled, mired in a swamp of political mud - mud she threw by the bucketful at Obama and mud that just did not stick.

For a while, it looked like the distractions of Rev. Jeremiah Wright and missteps by Obama might sink his candidacy. He lost focus, stumbled badly, but recovered. The Obama that strode on stage in North Carolina Tuesday night had the old bounce, the old gospel orator style and a renewed message of hope for an America that needs any shred of hope that it can find.

Obama delivered one of his best speeches of the this overlong campaign season, invoking memories of his parents and those of his wife, outlining his vision for the future and cementing his love of country and strength of motivation.

The rhetoric rang true, the style invoked passion and the delivery demanded attention. Obama is back and his twin foes of Clinton and old-style politics are vanquished.

The only thing left is for Clinton to finally do the right thing and start working to bring the fractured Democratic Party back together.

Mrs. Clinton, the stage is yours. Please take your bows and exit, stage left.

Not to go too far off topic, but what about gerrymandering? It's a commonly accepted practice, but is also easy as hell to abuse by spreading minority votes across several congressional districts. Granted, there's regulations to prevent this, but that doesn't mean it can't be abused.

Wow, you're a perceptive one.

Tell me, what percentage of blacks fail to graduate from High School?

So, Clinton had to lend her campaign $6.4 million in the last month. Just how much of that $100 plus million is she willing to fork out to keep her lifeboat afloat?

Clinton lends herself $6.4M as Obama's lead grows

apnews.myway.com

Well, if Clinton wants to waste her money that's fine.

How can someone who can afford to lend herfsefl millions try to portrary herself as a working class girl while while having the BALLS to to try to portray her opponent as an elitist?

Hillary is such an elitist she thinks she can buy the dem nomination.

Which proves nothing.

I am a Conservative and registered Republican and I live in the blue state of Michigan. According to the dictates of your 'challenge', you get to count me as a blue stater - a Liberal and/or Democrat.

Your challenge is founded upon a flawed premise to say the least.

So Clinton has dumped $11.4 million into a campaign that is a fraud on the American people, and continues to bash the now presumptive nominee of the Democratic Party, and now she's shopping for a bailout...anyone who sends money to her has be an idiot.

I'm around everyone. I've just been too busy to post. New job and all. You'll see more of me soon. BTW...its BEEN over! When Hillary lost 12 in a row it was finished. All she's done is to trash Obama and expose weaknesses to the GOP that they think they can exploit.

Did anyone bother to notice the "white working class voters" are the very reason the Democrats were thrust into the wilderness until 2006 in the first place? They voted for Bush in 2000 and 2004, so why is the Party so concerned with them after Obama has built a better coalition among educated whites and nearly unanimous support from the black community that always supported the Democrats? The Clintons are doing nothing but driving their own ego's and desires for power. I don't think the Party would have allowed any other Democrat to campaign in the primary like they have, but again, its over and the Super's need to put an end to it immediately.

Here's hoping they will.

Maybe I misread your post. Between the main body of your comment and your use of Obama's middle name, it sounded like you were essentially saying "lol Blacks are dumb." If this isn't what you were going for then I'm sorry for going off half-cocked.

If it is what you were going for, however, then I stand by my "racist prick" comment.

btw, I think she has to share about 10% ofthe Indiana delegates with Limbaugh.

Perfectly stated, Rob.

I agree, they don't have anything... but that's not to say there isn't anything.

Clinton dominated Obama in the Elderly categoty... I'll be very interested to see what happens with that group of voters over the next 6 months...

The original post suggested an IQ test for voters. It is a fact (why? that's another subject) that blacks do poor on IQ tests. I'm sorry, but it is an ugly fact. To quote that fact does not make one a racist.

You're right, of course. Discussing race, and studies about race, does not equate to racism.

However, implying that Blacks do poorly on IQ testing compared to whites because of some form of genetic inferiority is indeed racism. Like I said earlier, maybe I jumped the gun on yelling "racist!" And maybe I didn't. It's hard to discern the true meaning behind someone's words on the Internet.

And as far as the red/blue state thing goes, I think I'll let the obvious speak for itself

Yes. Please do so, Midi.

It's a blue state where the 'Red sections' - Oakland County - support the 'Blue Cesspools' - the City of Detroit.

You are full of shit and I think you know it.

Good riddance.

Anyone named bush or clinton should be showed the door. Both have wrecked this nation.

I disagree on half of this.... Bill, in my estimation, deserves a plus legacy of about 70% for his presidency.

This was a man with a superior intellect, a Rhodes Scholar, who tried to govern from the center, and exited that presidency with a high personal rating (thanks in large part to a partially unsuccessful GOP lynching party):
And our nation was respected and economically sound.

His negative 30% rating was self-inflicted by his personal conduct in the WH.
He sullied the honor of the WH.
------------------------------
---

As for the Bush legacy ?... a new president in '09 will have an opportunity to bring honor back to the WH, and stability to our nation.

Limp-wristed liberals just can't help but call anyone that speaks the truth about race a "racist".

If Obama wins (which will never happen) I look forward to the non-stop accusations of racism. All of the political pundits and late night talk show hosts had better be prepared!

Here's the whole post. Tell me which part has you confused...

Over 90% of the black vote went for Obama.

You still want that IQ requirement? I'll bet Hussien doesn't.

Yeah ... took the brain power of an 8th-grader to come up with your "joke".

Yet you got indignant and threw down the gauntlet at my "8th grade joke". LOL

If I hear BS from an 8th grader, I ignore it.

Are you SERIOUSLY giving yourself any credit for that little "tee hee" of a comment you made?

I'm giving YOU credit for challenging something you consider juvenile.

Maybe Goat, but Crescent is right...101 is a racist prick...doesnt bother him to admit it...fact is, he is proud to be a racist prick...am I correct 101?

Gonna be a long 4 years... don't vote for him? Racist. Don't support his bills? Racist. Call him a jigaboo? Racist...

Fucking Democrats...

I'll be very interested to see what happens with that group of voters over the next 6 months...

Probably
this.

"It" hasn't started. THis was all a sideshow. Neither Billary nor Obomba has the base to win the election. All this hoopla was for nothing.

However, implying that Blacks do poorly on IQ testing compared to whites because of some form of genetic inferiority is indeed racism.

It indeed is. To read such an such implication into the original post on the subject is racist as well. Here it is for your benefit:

It is a fact (why? that's another subject) that blacks do poor on IQ tests. I'm sorry, but it is an ugly fact.

genetics were not mentioned. In fact, the author (me) took pains to point out that the reasons for this fact was another subject.

Gonna be a long 4 years... don't vote for him? Racist. Don't support his bills? Racist.

Yes, clearly, because that's EXACTLY what I was saying.

Screw it, I'm out. I've got better things to do about people whose best retorts include "Fucking Democrats..."

Yes, clearly, because that's EXACTLY what I was saying.

Screw it, I'm out. I've got better things to do than argue with people whose best retorts include "Fucking Democrats..."

Also, I am good at clicking buttons on the internets.

1 in 4 Repulicans in NC voted AGAINST McBush, 1 in 5 in Indiana.

Says a lot.

Or as Commander Ryker would say "all our base are belong to somebody else"

Yes, clearly, because that's EXACTLY what I was saying.

Holy fuck Nancy, quit crying and get a sense of humor... do you think I was serious in that post... read the last part... Calm down big guy.

Clinton supporter George McGovern says Hillary should bow out of the race - MSNBC

Hillary blew her opportunity for a graceful exit.

Off to West Virginia to be "white" some more.

" I will fight for the Democratic party so long as it's for ME"

"Gonna be a long 4 years... don't vote for him? Racist. Don't support his bills? Racist. Call him a jigaboo? Racist..."

Ya did good Rob, til ya added the jigaboo piece. Yes, that part of the remark would be racist anywhere, except maybe Mississippi.

It's over. Time for the Rethugs to start getting out the racist attack ads.

Dude, the racism does not need the help of any particular party's ads......

Got enough rabid racism on the left for the racism to take care of itself. Just look at everything that went on in the Dem race so far!
Enough with the belief in the VRWC already. you are one hopeless guy, Danni.

We'll let 101's non denial of his racism speak for it's self. But to expand the point, he is also a sexist and a homophobe, and is kinda proud of that too.
The rest of you right wing tools can yuck it up with him and then criticize others for their 'associations' if ya like, but but dont think for a minute that you dont all have the stench of 101 all over youeselves for your clubbiness.

And as far as the red/blue state thing goes, I think I'll let the obvious speak for itself

Yes. Please do so, Midi.

Ah, yes ... another brilliant thinker speaks. Your use of anecdotes to combat an argument based on broader points is typical for someone not particularly skilled at debate.

Don't worry, I won't tax you further. YOu can check the facts for yourself, but you won't. Either way ... makes no difference to my plans for the day. Hope you have a nice one, though.

Your use of anecdotes to combat an argument based on broader points is typical for someone not particularly skilled at debate.

Au contraire, Midi.

I am dissecting your simplistic and non-nuanced bullshit - and the facts are on my side.

YOu can check the facts for yourself,

I have - and apparently you haven't.

Do you want to 'debate' me on Michigan Demographics?

Let's see you try, Coppernicus.

Ya did good Rob, til ya added the jigaboo piece. Yes, that part of the remark would be racist anywhere, except maybe Mississippi.

Yes... that was the joke...

In Mississippi that's how you say "good morning." I think its on their state flag...

The population of the Northeastern United States, which had the smallest population of any region with thirty-six million residents, had the highest percentage of high-school and college graduates. The western United States had the highest percentage of those with some college or an Associates degree and ranked second for college graduates. The South which had by far the largest population with roughly sixty-six million people had the lowest educational attainment at every level.

US Census Bureau report on educational attainment in the United States, 2003. Retrieved on 2006-07-31.

Blue state, red state ... broadly speaking

101's non denial of his racism speak for it's self. But to expand the point, he is also a sexist and a homophobe,...

Says OWS as he, in the very next sentence, mocks all who subscribe to religion and/or reside in the southern portion of the US.

OldSourpuss,
What have I ever done that would give you the idea that I care enough to answer your questions?

Dems have the least and the most educated. Repubs, have the middle. Plenty of ignorance to go around.

The red states just seem to take greater pride in their ignorance and have popular radio hosts to promote it.

broadly speaking

Nice cop-out.

Your implication was clear - liberals/Democrats are supporting, via tax redistribution, conservative/Republicans.

That ain't the case, at least not in the blue state of Michigan. In fact, quite the opposite is true, in Michigan.
