Member, LOL. My brother who lives in Florida called me immediately when they got screwed by the clock not running. They clearly got screwed. Good thing the clock official was from Minnesota. Unfortunately the refs had to follow their rules and couldn't replay or run a clock on it. I was surprised that they arbitrarily chose to decide there were .5 seconds left rather than zero and declaring time had run out (they certainly had that option imho). Hey, at least it benefited our team.....hehehe. Bottom line, I loved it. It was a great hard fought game. The Pistons survived a heck of a run by the Magic.

For threcord, it is a big deal even here in lilly white Oregon. Cinco de Mayo soccer tournaments, food booths, big community celebrations, etc. are common.

I was driving along and saw a bumper sticker that read, "Proud grandfather of an autistic child."

I wondered just what elicited such pride. Is he "proud" that his grandson is afflicted? Does he think being afflicted confers something special and positive on his grandson?

Or is the grandfather declaring that he is not disaffected and rejecting his unfortunate grandson despite the limitations that the grandson suffers?

Is the grandfather declaring that whatever stigma is attached to being impaired, he the grandfather will not succumb to it?

I wonder what the grandfather means to convey with his declaration.

I suppose that the same connotations may apply to declarations of "gay pride" and "black pride." The situations differ. The gay pride people suffer a functional impairment. They declare "pride" in the fact they are dysfunctional? The black pride declarations demonstrate a sense of defiance, with a group saddled by being viewed as inferior, declaring that the group is indifferent to the perceptions of others, and members of the group will live their lives proudly as human beings. Black pride people do not accept the disparaging perceptions of others as defining them.

Proud to have an autistic grandson, or not rejecting the grandson because the grandson is autisitc? I would hope that the grandfather would prefer that a cure be developed and the grandson be able to leave his autistic circumstance.

Kerrin, that video is both funny and sad at the same time. It shows had horrible our education system is. This is what's gonna keep happening as long as we keep putting the interests of the teachers' unions ahead of common sense reforms like vouchers. The Bush presidency was a big failure in this regard because he was not able to get vouchers enacted into law as part of the so called education reform we had.

the bone popped out and went up the leg and when that happens the collateral ligament support is gone.
for a horse to survive, it has to stand and this injury made that impossible and an open wound on the left side gave it a high risk of infection even if repair attempted...( barbaro)
as far as jockey error...there was none. horses are always allowed to run out and slow down at their own pace and this happened as 8bells was slowed almost to a stop after a full mile and a half after the finish line.
in every race the filly tried to drift to the rail and any whipping was done to keep her from going to the rail, not to try and catch big brown.

While autism is indeed a biological disorder, being both gay and black are not disorders at all.

It's not the gays and blacks who have a disorder. I'm more inclined to believe people who feel like you have a disorder. Yours is just more socially acceptable. You're emotionally impaired.

i didn't vote for bush.

i am of the opinion that the w. should be brought up on charges of treason.
i suspect that there are hundreds of laws that he has broken though, as i am not a lawyer, as he is not protecting our borders at a time of war... that, to me, seems as though it is treasonous. i'm sure someone here could help out with other charges.

interestingly - while at my work the other day, a man with a gun and a badge (in street clothing) caught my eye.
i asked what he did and he stated he worked for a government agency on the anti-terrorism squad.
i them queried him on a few things that i've always wanted answers to.
first and foremost was - 'forgetting the illegal immigration problem, no one is protecting the borders... how many of these people crossing the border are actually here to kill us.'
while he didn't allow me to finish my question - as he knew what i was asking - he stated that, 'it's all politics, it makes my job much harder and as a result, my job is a lot more difficult... and that there are some very dangerous people here due to the policy.'
we continued the conversation and it all supports my thinking that bush is making it more dangerous to live in this country by not protecting us and securing the borders - hence, treason.
if anything does happen - and it came over the border, bush's legacy will be secure.


and on the other topic from above - i love france - tis my home away from home and i would have a second home there if i could.
call me names and what have you - the people are great, the food and culture is the finest you can find and they've an appreciation of the past that we don't.
