If the public limits what the government can do, it must accept that the risk of terrorist attacks may increase, he said. If the public gives the government greater authorities, it should not criticize the government for using those authorities at a later date. Wow, I never thought I'd see someone actually come right out and say it. "Either give us all the power we want, or shit will start blowing up again..then we'll see how you feel about surrendering some more of those civil liberties". At least they aren't trying to hide it.

I'm only using Axioms excerpt... it's an ugly truth, but it is true...It's a fine balancing act, if we want unabated liberties...then we do limit in ways the effectiveness of how much the government can effectively combat different forms of terrorism. it's up to us to decide how free vs how secure we wish to be...we can't have 100 percent of both. I'd prefer to skew it to freedoms, I don't want the government in anyones business, and I realize this means greater freedom for terrorists to function.

What this POS says is nothing less than scrapping the constitution altogether. "Just let them do what they want and don't question whether an constitutional provisions were violated" sheer genius. This is what our dear President has been doing for not quite 8 years. If we are "luckt" be member of the executive branch will have more than 8 years to meditate on the error of their ways.

Heaven forbid we try to match up which liberties we would give up vs how exactly that would address the threat at hand. IMHO the problem ain't our liberties.
