CLEVELAND - Republican John McCain said President Bush should not be held responsible for the much-criticized "Mission Accomplished" banner five years ago, but he should be blamed for bungling the early months of the war.

On Thursday, the fifth anniversary of Bush's dramatic landing on an aircraft carrier where the banner hung, McCain said, "I thought it was wrong at the time."

"So all I can tell you was that I was the strongest advocate, or one of the strongest advocates, for changing to adopt the surge," McCain told reporters. "And I think that history will judge me by the fact that I thought it was wrong."

"But he (Bush) should be blamed for bungling the early months of the war..."

What continues to slay me is that it was blatant he was bungling at the time.

The problem with this country is that too many adults are apparently willing to praise kids for sticking their hands down garbage disposals.

You know, if you nod your head and smile some people WILL take that as a sign a few missing fingers must be a good thing.

Come to think of it, the above is not a good analogy. What Bush did was delegate any possible missing fingers to others.

He's going home to Crawford in a few months. The chances he will have to look at a brain-injured vet reduces to zero.

He should be blamed for invading Iraq in the first god damned place. The banners and the bungling just show what an incompetent fool he was, the invasion showed what a liar and a murderer he is. They invaded that nation because it has lots of oil, pretending differently is for weak minded fools willing to believe anything they tell you.
Do you think Alan Greenspan is a loonie leftie???
I sincerely wish I could completely believe in God and eternal justice as some of you do because it would be comforting to know that people like George Bush will eventually face God and pay for his crimes.

yeah... it was the fault of those damn libruls...

and maybe a talking tator...
